Revealed!!! Abducted Chibok girls are still alive – Salkida

Barely 24 hours after President Muhammadu Buhari declared that he cannot tell if the Chibok schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram terrorists are still alive, the journalist renowned to have access to the leadership of the sect, Ahmed Salkida says he has been told by credible sources that the missing girls are still alive.

It would be recalled that close to 300 schoolgirls were kidnapped from their dormitory in April 2014, with at least 219 of them still believed to be in captivity.

Clues as to the exact location of the missing girls have remained elusive.

But revealing that some of them have refused to convert to Islam or allowed themselves to be married off, Salkida, wrote in an opinion that Buhari should use state machinery to open up access to the militants rather than say he has no clue on the kidnapped girls whose abductions sparked off the #BringBackOurGirls campaign.

According to him: “Most of the Chibok girls, whether they are split into groups or not, are alive, multiple credible sources have told me, and if a deal to release them will weaken national security and endanger the entire country, then the federal government shouldn’t make a deal.

“I am confident that Chibok girls and other captives can return to their families if the government is half as strong-willed as some of the girls in captivity that have refused to be married out or give up their faith.

“The girls would have never backed out of any process, no matter how irritating it is. They would stay on and negotiate hard until they get a deal that will earn them their freedom and stop such abductions so that no one else can ever witness their woeful plight.”

My take:
I think this guy should be drilled... He knows more than President Muhammadu Buhari.

Fayose Blasts Buhari Again, Says His Presidency A Misadventure For Nigerians

Gov. Ayo Fayose
Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has described the return to power of President Mohammadu Buhari as a misadventure for Nigerians, calling on the international community, especially organisations like the United Nations (UN) and European Union (EU) to focus their attention on human rights abuses and contempt for the rule of law in Nigeria in 2016.

Governor Fayose, who said he was not disappointed by the President’s response during his media chat, to question on the disobedient of court orders by the Department of State Security (DSS), added that he had said it several times that once a dictator will always be a dictator and that those who helped him to power will end up in his gaol of dictatorship.

In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said he was aware of plot to muzzle him and others considered as non-conformists because of their opinion and critical stance on the President and his government, adding that; “such plot will definitely be counterproductive.”

He described the way and manner the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) was being treated by the federal government as the hallmark of a dictator.

“I said it earlier that Buhari is a dictator and I warned several times that those that were promoting this lion will end up in its belly.

“Having heard from the President himself declaring Col Sambo Dasuki and Nnamdi Kanu guilty even before trial, Nigerians should be prepared for a return of the 1984 experience in which Buhari’s Military tribunal sentenced people to jail terms ranging from 21 to 300 years, such that the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) had to boycott the tribunal.

Even when former Ondo State Governor, late Chief Michael Ajasin was twice cleared. of any wrongdoing by Buhari’s military tribunals; He was made to remain in prison.

“Those who witnesses Buhari’s regime in 1984-1985 will still remember how the National Security Organisation (NSO) – now DSS broke up a press conference of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU); detaining four of its officers, banned the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and other associations and arrested their leaders.

Even those who were not arrested were watched and warned by the NSO.

“As it was in 1984 when an accused was presumed as guilty and must have to prove his innocence, Nigerians are now being told by Buhari, ademocratically elected President that those he accused of corruption are already guilty and they do not have rights to enjoy bail granted them by the courts even after meeting all the bail conditions.

“That is enough a signal on what is to come in 2016 and the international community and lovers of democracy in Nigeria must be watchful of the level of human rights abuses that will be perpetrated by President Buhari.

“However, I want to assure Buhari that democratic time will surely catch up with him because no dictator has ever succeeded in muzzling the rule of law, which is the basic ingredient of democracy,” the governor said.

While calling on Nigerians to brace up for more hardships to be occasioned by the federal government’s strange economic policies, Governor Fayose said; “With the President referring to Deutschmark and French Franc as still being in use in Germany and France, it is obvious that 1984 economic solutions will still be applied to Nigeria’s economic problems in 2016.”

Davido, Baby Mama Fight Dirty Over Baby’s Alleged Abduction As Families Wade In [All What You Need To Know]

Nigerian award-winning artiste, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, says his baby mama, Sophia Momodu can never be his wife, despite having a child for him.

According to widely circulated reports, the music star and the mother of his child seem to be at loggerheads, as some months ago, the singer was alleged to have lured Sophia into bringing the child home where the baby was forcefully taken away from her.

Reports say Davido and his sister, Ashely, had on Tuesday been stopped from travelling to Dubai with the child by immigration officials at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in response to a petition by Sophia that the child had been abducted.

Also, Sophia’s lawyers had in a petition to the Director-General, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, alleged that the baby had been forcibly taken from her on July 11.

The said petition also claimed that repeated efforts by Sophia to get her baby back since then were unsuccessful, leaving her to turn to friends and her cousin, Dele Momodu, for help.

The petition reads in parts:

“We act as Solicitors for Miss. Sophia Ajibola Momodu, (hereinafter referred to as our client) whose instructions we have to forward this petition to your esteemed Agency. Our client, a 27 year old, is the biological mother of a baby girl with name, Aurora Imade Adeleke, who was born on the 14th day of May 2015.

The baby’s father is Mr. David Adedeji Adeleke (aka Davido).
“The father and mother are unmarried. On the 11th July, 2015, our client was tricked to visit the house of Mr. David Adedeji Adeleke’s half sister – Miss Ashely Coco Adeleke’s with her baby, Imade Aurora Adeleke.

After getting to the house on Baderinwa Alabi Street, Lekki Phase I, Lagos, our client’s baby was forcefully taken from her and she was thrown out of the premises with the threat that she would be decisively dealt with if she ever bothered to return there.

“There were armed policemen in the premises and our client’s survival instinct prevailed on her to make her leave her breast suckling baby behind, with so much pain in her heart.

By daybreak on the next day, our client was again at Ashley Coco Adeleke’s house to take her baby, but she was prevented by armed policemen from gaining access into the house.

She was again threatened and warned never to return for the child.”

Osinbajo was Burkina Faso to represent President Muhammadu Buhari at the inauguration of the newly elected president of that country Roch Marc Christian Kabore.

He said that President Muhammadu Buhari had announced job opportunities for 500,000 graduate-youths to be engaged as teachers.

He added that an estimated 500,000 non-graduate unemployed people would be trained as artisans.

The Vice President explained that the Conditional Cash transfer Scheme was intended to utilise the thrift system to grant loans to market women to enable them improve their businesses and earn decent living.

He said the homegrown school feeding programme would not only provide adequate nutrition to school children, but would also boost agriculture, create jobs and wealth locally.

Osinbajo assured the Nigerian community that the fight against corruption was a continuous one.

He said that the Buhari administration would not only prosecute those involved but also recover all the loot that had been traced.

“We will go after Nigeria’s fund wherever it is found and we will recover it,’’ he said, saying “our country is bound for greatness.’’

The Vice President told the Nigerian community that President Buhari was a man to be trusted; a man of integrity.

“I am proud of our leadership and this is a great opportunity for the country to be great,’’ he added.

In his remarks, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Burkina Faso, David Bala, described the one million Nigerians resident in the country as `peaceful and law abiding.’ people.

Michael Adeyanju, the leader of the Nigerian Community in Burkina Faso, thanked the Federal government for attending the inauguration of the Burkinabe President.

He described the gesture as a sign of cordial relationship between both countries.

He said Nigeria was the only country that donated 20 Hilux vans to assist the country’s electoral commission, adding that the gesture raised the pride of the Nigerian community.

Biafra: Ericsson Confiscates Radio Biafra Transmitter On MTN Mast In Enugu

Ericsson Nigeria has admitted that a contract employee working with it was actually responsible for the Radio Biafra transmitter installed on an MTN mast in Enugu.

In a statement signed by its Managing Director, Johan Jemdahl, the firm said it had confiscated the transmitter and had notified the authorities.

The statement reads: “ Illegal FM transmitting equipment was discovered connected to an outsourced MTN mast, managed by Ericsson, in Enugu in Eastern Nigeria.

The equipment was immediately confiscated and the authorities were notified. A contractor to Ericsson has subsequently been taken into police custody after his involvement was discovered.

He has been discharged from his contracted responsibilities with Ericsson.

“Ericsson views this incident in an extremely serious light. It is the result of a violation of its process that permits access to its mast sites. As a result, Ericsson has initiated immediate action to foil any similar attempts.

All mast sites in Enugu and Port Harcourt regions have been audited while FM scanning was conducted.

Critical attention was given to all high masts and sites located in mountainous areas, i.e. locations attractive for illegal activities. In addition, the Site Access Process will be reviewed for all employees and third parties.

“We sincerely regret the unfortunate incident, which violates our code of business ethics and code of conduct, contracted responsibilities as well as our company’s values.”

An MTN source had disclosed that the engineer, David Nwawuisi, “was able to install the transmitters because he worked with Ericsson Nigeria Limited, one of the companies to which the telecommunications firm outsources the maintenance of its base stations.”

MTN owns 12,000 base stations across the country, and Huawei, a Chinese networking and manufacturer of telecommunications equipment, is the other company that is responsible for the maintenance of these Base stations.

However, Nwawuisi, who is currently standing trial with the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, is a field maintenance engineer with the Swedish technology company.

The MTN source, who did not wish to be mentioned, said Nwawuisi’s role was to grant access to IPOB engineers to mount the transmitters on MTN’s masts under his care.

“The transmitters, which were used in boosting the signals of Radio Biafra allegedly transmitted from London, the United Kingdom, were discovered by the security agencies on MTN masts in Enugu and Anambra states,” one of the sources said.

According to him, the second suspect, Benjamin Madubugwu, helped with the installation of the transmitters in Anambra State, also in concert with IPOB engineers.

Both men were contacted by Chidibere Onwudiwe, a suspected IPOB member, for the job, according to court papers filed by the Federal Government.

Indian Plane Turns Around After Rat Spotted On Board

An Air India flight to London has been forced to turn around after a rat was spotted scurrying around the cabin.

Passengers on the plane, which had set off from Mumbai, noticed the rodent on board mid-flight.

A hunt for the creature began and even though it was not found, the pilot chose to return to Mumbai for passenger safety, the airline said.

A spokesman for the company said the aircraft would have to be fumigated before getting back into service.

An alternative plane was used to fly the passengers on to London.

Two other incidents are reported to have hit Air India flight in the past day.

On one occasion, a pilot aborted take-off after a stray dog ran onto the runway in northern India.

And another plane from Mumbai collided with a catering van at the Newark airport in New Jersey, US.

Davido turns to God for intervention as baby abduction drama lingers

Davido
Award-winning artiste, David “Davido” Adeleke, has left those accusing him of abducting his daughter, Imade, and denying his baby mama, Sophia Momodu, access to her daughter to God.

The music star and his sister, Ashely, had on Tuesday been stopped from travelling to Dubai with the child by immigration officials at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in response to a petition by Momodu that the child had been abducted.

Sophia’s lawyers had in a petition to the Director-General, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, alleged that the baby had been forcibly taken from her on July 11 at Ashley’s house in Lekki after she was tricked into going there.

The petition also claimed that repeated efforts by Sophia to get her baby back since then were unsuccessful, leaving her to turn to friends and her cousin, Dele Momodu, for help.

The Ovation Magazine publisher had accompanied Sophia to alert immigration officials, sparking a war of words between the two.

Momodu took to Instagram and Twitter, posting photos from  the airport and mocking Davido over his inability to use his influence to have his way.

“All the phone calls to Abuja by Davido’s powerful family failed to impress the highly professional officers at MMIA as they tried to travel illegally with a seven month old baby they had seized from her mum months ago!” he wrote in a post.

Davido, who had initially, expressed disappointment in Momodu, however, tweeted in the early hours of Thursday, “I leave them for God.”

In another tweet, he explained that he did not deserve all that was happening as all he had ever done “is to love that baby”.

Earlier, an angry David had told Momodu he should be ashamed of himself.

“You should be ashamed of yourself!!
God bless you still,” he tweeted.

Momodu, who also put up a screen shot of a chat between David and Sophia in which the artiste insulted him, said in a post,

“No one no matter how wealthy or powerful has the right to forcefully detach a baby from her mum… Nigeria is not that lawless!”

Sophia, who says she has been denied access to her daughter for months, is however worried that the baby could be sneaked out of the country via land.

She has also asked the Department of State Security, the police and the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, to intervene in the matter.

The parties could not be immediately reached for comments.

Sharia: Unmarried Man, Woman Caned After Being Caught In Guest House Alone

An unmarried man and woman were caned on Monday in the Indonesian city of Banda Aceh after they were allegedly caught alone together in a guest room, CNN reported.

The duo, who are unrelated, were found guilty of violating Sharia law by a court and sentenced to caning.

According to Yusnardi, who heads a unit charged with finding people who violate Sharia law, it is prohibited in the area for two unmarried people to be found alone together, due to the strict enforcement of Sharia law in the area.

The Sharia police chief, who only goes by one name, said the duo were arrested two months ago after authorities said they were found alone together.

He also said four other persons were caned on the same day, but this time for gambling, which is also prohibited by Sharia law.

FG targets 400,000 jobs through locally-made pencils

The Federal Government yesterday in Enugu said the country must stop importing pencils in the next two years.

Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonaya Onu, gave the directive at the Projects Development Institute, PRODA.

Onu equally mandated the institute to produce the first made-in-Nigeria six-cylinder engine.

He said apart from boosting the country’s economy, production of pencils by PRODA would create about 400,000 jobs which is one of the main thrusts of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

The minister who spoke after a facility tour of PRODA establishments at Emene and Iva Valley, both in Enugu State, regretted that despite the fact that Nigeria has the capacity to manufacture pencils, it has continued to import them.

He assured the management of PRODA that the administration of President Buhari is committed to creating new jobs, promising that his ministry would support PRODA to meet its mandate.

His ministry, he assured, would assist the institute in achieving its target objectives of contributing meaningfully to the nation’s technological breakthrough.

He requested the assistance of the institute in giving technical training that would enable many unemployed youths roaming the streets to acquire skills that could equip them to fend for themselves.

Earlier in his address, the chief executive officer of PRODA, Dr. Agunanna, had disclosed that part of the imported machines that would have enabled PRODA take-off with full scale production of pencils are withheld at the Wharf in Lagos.

He assured that when the machines are released to PRODA, it would embark on mass production of pencils.

Another White Lie?? Jonathan’s govt did not divert funds meant for arms purchase – Fani- Kayode

Femi Fani-Kayode
Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode claimed yesterday that former President Goodluck Jonathan administration did not divert money meant for arms purchase.

The former Director of Media and Publicity insisted that the last administration purchased arms and fought Boko Haram insurgents to a standstill, except not infiltrating the Sambisa forest.

He stated during a Channels TV programme, Sunrise, that the arms purchased were used to reclaim about 22 local government areas captured by the insurgents.

He said: “I don’t think it’s helpful to continue blaming the government on challenges we are facing on the warfront.

But it is important for us to come together to support the government in the fight against terrorism because we are all Nigerians, regardless of what political party you are in.

“This is not the time to cast aspersions, but time for everyone to join efforts to fight this war to ensure that we have a solid victory against Boko Haram.”

According to him, Jonathan administration had to purchase arms with cash because of the arms embargo on the country, which frustrated the former president to buy weapons from the black market.

He added that United Kingdom (UK) and United States (U.S.) governments refused to sell arms to the country.

“The President came out few days ago that no arms were bought by the previous administration.

This is a lie. It is not true. If no arms were bought, I wonder how the previous government could have recovered 22 local governments in few months. Arms were used, so to claim that no arms were used is untrue.”

Ondo2016: 2,500 dump PDP for APC in Ondo

The rocky town of Idanre in Ondo State yesterday witnessed an unprecedented mass defection of leaders and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The over 2,500 former PDP members were led by the member representing Ondo State at the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr Oluremi Akinbobola and an ex-Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Akin Akingbesote (A&T).

At the rally were National Vice Chairman Pius Akinyelure; Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs Prof Cladius Daramola; former Deputy Governor Ali Olanusi, former Ekiti State House of Assembly Speaker Adewale Omirin; State Chairman Isaac Kekemeke; his deputy, Ade Adetimehin; Ifedayo Abegunde(Abena); Dr Tunji Abayomi and Prince Olu Adegboro.

Also, some governorship aspirants – Jamiu Ekungba, Victor Olabimtan, Olusola Oke, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) and Segun Abraham – were present.

Akinbobola said: “We want to ensure that we join hands with our leaders, in the local government and in Nigeria.

“The national vice chairman of APC is our brother in Idanre, so we have to join hands with him.

“So, we want to join hands with President Buhari to ensure a better Nigeria.”

Akingbesote described his defection as a fulfilment of his dreams.

He promised to use his structures to work and win elections for the APC.

Receiving the defectors, Akinyelure urged them to be loyal to the party.

He urged them to continue to preach the gospel of the APC and the change agenda to the people.

Kekemeke said the APC had become a preferred destination, stressing that it has graduated into a big party in Ondo State.

“Go and tell the people, nine months from now, we shall win election to occupy the Alagbaka Government House.”

Tradition worshipers want August 20 declared public holiday

No Stranger in Heaven

Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. – Ps 73:24
From day to day and from year to year my faith believes in the wisdom and love of God, and I know that I shall not believe in vain. No good word of His has ever failed, and I am sure that none shall ever fall to the ground.
I put myself into His hand for guidance. I know not the way that I should choose: the Lord shall choose mine inheritance for me. I need counsel and advice; for my duties are intricate, and my condition is involved… The counsel of the infallible God I seek in preference to my own judgment or the advice of friends…
Soon the end will come: a few more years and I must depart out of this world unto the Father. My Lord will be near my bed. He will meet me at heaven’s gate: He will welcome me to the gloryland. I shall not be a stranger in heaven: my own God and Father will receive me to its endless bliss.
Glory be to Him who
Will guide me here,
And receive me hereafter. Amen.

APC to Ladoja: You’re finished politically

Sen. Rasheed Ladoja
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State is taunting a former governor of the state, Rasheed Ladoja, saying the incumbent governor, Abiola Ajimobi, has already knocked him out of active politics and that’s final.

The party’s claim followed a media report in which Ladoja, who was the gubernatorial candidate of Accord Party (AP) at the April 11, 2015 general elections in the state, said neither APC, nor a combination of Ajimobi and a former governor of the state, Adebayo Alao-Akala, who also contested for the governorship seat on the platform of Labour Party (LP) could send him to political oblivion.

Alao-Akala has signified his intention to defect from LP to APC. But the APC in a statement issued today by its Director of Publicity and Strategy, Olawale Sadare, stated that it could only sympathise with Ladoja, who he described as fighting a lost battle as far as the 2015 gubernatorial election in Oyo State was concerned “for jejune personal reasons.”

Ladoja had stated in the media report: “Am I in oblivion yet? No, I am not. Or is it the association of Alao-Akala and Ajimobi that will send me to oblivion? No, it cannot.

Therefore, you cannot say it is over yet. It is too early to say they would send me to political oblivion.

“Definitely, at a certain time, I will have to retire from active politics when I become Olubadan of Ibadanland.

At that time, can I still play active politics? But today I am not yet Olubadan, and it is not sure that I will become Olubadan. I only pray that I will become Olubadan.

But Sadare contended that “it is to the common knowledge of the public that Ladoja’s political career has ended on a sad note and his pains in this regard are self-inflicted.

“If not self-delusion; what else can make a septuagenarian, who has had to lose same election consecutively for a record three times after being imposed on the people for a disastrous first term, believe he could be governor again in a state where competent and promising materials are in abundance?

“Pointedly, Ladoja’s perceived political relevance has always been exaggerated as lacks virtually all the qualities of those who have made and those who still make indelible marks in the political space globally.

But with his recent resolve to rock the boat of democracy and good governance in the state, he has nailed his own political coffin.”

The APC stated, however, that Ladoja stands a good chance of staging a comeback and become an issue in the politics and governance of Oyo State if he could meet certain conditions including coming up “with a magic to reduce his age by at least 20 years.”

While the APC was busy taunting Ladoja, the former governor disclosed that he has taken his battle to unseat Governor Ajimobi to the Supreme Court over controversies surrounding the April 11, 2015 governorship election in the state.

Ladoja, who contested the poll on the platform of the Accord Party, said he has filed his appeal before the apex court today.

This is coming barely two weeks after the Court of Appeal, sitting in Ibadan, affirmed the Tuesday October 27, 2015 verdict of the Justice Mohammed Mayaki-led election petition tribunal that affirmed the victory of Governor Ajimobi.

Senior Media Assistant to Ladoja, Alhaji Lanre Latinwo, in a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan this evening, noted that the five man panel at the appellate court led by Justice H.M. Ogunjumiju delivered its judgment on Thursday December 17, 2015, but the court did not release the judgment to Ladoja’s legal team till about 4:30p.m local time on Tuesday December 29, 2015, which was 12 days after the judgment was delivered.

The five-man panel of judges in the unanimous decision, had held that Ladoja’s appeal lacked merit and that the evidence of the principal witness, Bimbo Adepoju, tagged PWI, was inadmissible.

The appellate court also dismissed a separate appeal filed by the Accord Party on which platform Ladoja contested, for lack of merit.

According to him, Ladoja has 14 days to file the case before the Supreme Court, adding that the case was eventually filed today, December 30, which was the last day to the deadline stipulated by law.

He expressed concerns on why the judgment, which is among key documents to be submitted by the petitioners at the apex court, was not released on time, saying: “if not for God and the determination of Senator Ladoja and his legal team, the petition would have suffered a technical difficulty.”

Lantinwo further stated that Ladoja “gave glory to God that this deliberate and very obvious conspiracy against the honest pursuit of justice failed.

The petition has been filed at the apex court. Senator Ladoja also reiterated his belief in the Supreme Court to render due justice to his petition and that of Accord Party. God is on the side of truth.”

PoliFocus scores Buhari low on his maiden media chat

I write to vent my anger on the ways and manners by which the incumbent President of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari answered the questions asked him during the session.

It will be recalled that the media was a debut chat that has been conducted by the present All Progressives Congress (APC) led federal government.

Though I can't shy away from the fact that he answered some perfectly well but those of paramount interests to we Nigerians were attended to with kids gloves.

Should we say at this juncture that His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari lacks the political will to achieve all what he told us during electioneering??

He was equally proud of disobeying the rule of law which he sworn to uphold.

Saying categorically that he had no control no influence over the members of the national assembly was a misfiring!

The issue of subsidy removal was also not properly answered. I don't want to talk about the issue of the much publicised N5,000 promised as well and the ignoble ban on naira-denominated debit cards' usage abroad.

Telling us that he rejected N400m vehicle is not what we want to hear again.

When asked about his plan for the tertiary institutions, he was beating around the bush.

Hope this media chat will not make me to align with the position of the governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose that Nigerians have boarded 'a one chance' vehicle.

I will submit by saying that President Muhammadu Buhari should change for better, we voted him in on the account of probity and integrity.

He should not let us down, but anyway as I normally posit, "we can change the change, if there is need for it"

God bless my country, Nigeria.

Ambode’s convoy apprehends Air Force cadets for locking boy in car trunk

The convoy of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, on Wednesday apprehended two Air force cadets in Mile 12 area of the State while dehumanizing an artisan, Dahiru Lawal for allegedly breaking the windscreen of a Chrysler Stratus car with registration number KRD 267 DV.

The cadets – Peters O. Solomon and Abdullahi Fahad, who claimed to be Air force personnel attached to the Air force Base in Ikeja, had forced Lawal in the boot of their car after dragging him on the ground for the said offence.

Governor Ambode, who was returning from an inspection visit to Agbowa in Ikorodu, saw the situation and swiftly intervened to save Lawal who was gasping for breath.

The Governor wondered how such inhuman treatment could be meted to a fellow citizen just for slightly breaking the windscreen of a car.

When questioned by journalists, the cadets admitted putting Lawal in the boot of their car.

According to them, Lawal tried to escape after breaking the windscreen and ran into the nearby market where they eventually chased and apprehended him.

Peters said: “What happened is that the boy broke the windscreen in front of my car. When I stopped, I asked him to come, the boy ran away. We have to drag him back and put him in the boot.”

“I kind of threatened his boss that he is working with and when his boss came and looked at what he did to me, that was when I put him inside the boot for the remaining ones to go and call the boss.

Not that I locked the boot, I only put him inside the boot, but I did not lock the boot,” he said.

Also Abdullahi said himself and Peters were along Mile 12 after visiting a friend when they heard a knack on their windscreen and they saw Lawal attempting to escape.

“We now run inside the market and dragged him (Lawal) down. I was even asking who he is working with because I want to see his Oga since I know he cannot repair my damaged windscreen. I want to see the man he is working with so that we can settle everything with him. I now told my colleague that we should hand him over to Airforce police at the Air force Base,” Abdullahi said.

While narrating his ordeal in the hands of the cadets, Lawal who hails from Kaduna State, said he mistakenly damaged the windscreen with the load he carried, and that he took to his heels because he was afraid of what they might do to him.

He said: “I ran into the market and they pursued me and caught me inside the market. They started beating me and dragged me to their car.”

“I ran because I was afraid of what the cadets might do to me, while my boss and people around begged on my behalf, but their pleas fell on deaf ears.”

“The police also came to plead with them to open the boot but they insisted on taking me away and it was at that point that the convoy of the Governor arrived to rescue me from the boot of the car where they kept me,” Lawal said.

He added that he lost his cell phone and the sum of N5,000 which he was having on him at the point that he was being dragged on the floor.

The Governor had since ordered that the suspects be handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Fake Army colonel arrested over N40m fraud in Oyo

A 62-year-old self-acclaimed colonel, one Babatunde Idris, has been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command.

Parading the fake colonel before newsmen in Ibadan, the state Commissioner of Police, CP, Leye Oyebade, said Idris was arrested after a petition was filed against him for parading himself as a colonel in the Nigerian Army where he used a fake identity card to defraud one Yinusa Mustapha to the tune of N40m.

According to the CP, “Following a petition received alleging the fraudulent activities of Idris, the command’s Anti-kidnapping Squad swung into action and arrested the suspect, who until his arrest had fraudulently obtained various sums of money from his victims.”

“The suspect promised his last victim, Mustapha, that he would help him to get a certificate for oil importation since 2012, but failed to complete the deal after the money was paid into his account.”

Oyebade said the suspect forged various letterheads of the Nigerian Army which he issued to unsuspecting individuals and corporate organisations soliciting assistance.

“He also had multiple identities under fake names all bearing the status of a colonel,” the Commissioner added.

Confessing before newsmen, the suspect said he collected the money from his victim in installments, but denied that the money was up to N40m.

“I collected N16m from him claiming to be a colonel in the army. Mustapha wanted me to help him to collect certificate of oil lifting and because I knew people who could do it, I took the money from him, but the deal failed.

“I signed the form, but truly I am not a military man. One of my brothers is a general in the army.

One day, he gave me a letter to help somebody, so I made a copy of it,” Idris added.

[Sport] Atletico Madrid eye £12m deal for Ighalo

Atletico Madrid are considering a £12million deal for Watford striker, Odion Ighalo.

According to reports in England, the La Liga side have sent their scouts to watch the Nigerian a few times this season.

The scouts have been impressed by Ighalo’s performances and have recommended the 26-year-old to manager Diego Simeone.

Atletico will have to sell Jackson Martinez who joined from FC Porto this summer, before they bring in Ighalo.

AS Roma are also understood to be keen on the Super Eagles forward, who has netted 14 times so far in the Premier League.

Last week, Watford manager, Quique Sanchez Flores, waved aside speculation that Ighalo and his strike partner, Troy Deeney, would be sold.

“In meetings I have with the owner and the sporting director we never talk about the possibility of these players like Ighalo or Deeney leaving in the middle of the season,” Flores said.

Ekiti APC accuses Fayose of taking state funds to Dubai, Describes him 'incorrigible con artist'

Gov.Ayo Fayose
The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State has accused Governor Ayodele Fayose of stashing away money belonging to the state in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

The party said it was the height of irresponsibility for the governor to embark on a private visit abroad during Christmas while state workers live in miserable conditions.

Specifically, the party accused the governor of refusal to pay workers’ salary for three months while embarking on a foreign trip through bloated expenses of N250m.

The Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, in a statement, described Fayose’s Sunday trip to Dubai as the height of insensitivity and wickedness by a governor who always called himself the “people’s governor.”

“It is more worrisome that the governor prepared and collected travelling allowances for 10 aides who he claimed were to travel with him to Dubai, but only one eventually made the trip while money running into millions for the remaining nine was pocketed by the governor.

“The Dubai trip confirmed our earlier alarm that Fayose is taking Ekiti money out to the Middle-East country whenever he receives allocation from the Federal Government.

“Fayose just visited local governments where he lied to the workers that the state government is broke whereas he has appropriated N250m for his needless trip and those of ghost aides after setting aside another N250m for his monthly personal security vote.

“This is a governor who, few days ago, accused his colleagues of extravagant spending through foreign trips even though he himself is the greatest culprit.

This confirms our allegation that Governor Fayose is an incorrigible con artist that ever lives.”

Claiming that Fayose was dehumanising Ekiti people through anti-people policies, such as heavy taxes that could not be accounted for, Olatubosun said this was unlike in former Governor Kayode Fayemi’s era in 2013 when workers collected their December salary a week to Christmas in addition to 30 per cent of their annual basic salary as Christmas bonus.

“Fayose again conned Ekiti workers by paying 10 per cent of their monthly basic salary which translated to about N700 (seven hundred naira) to most workers while he shamelessly boasted that he had paid workers’ bonus,” he said.

The APC called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission to invite the state Commissioner for Finance, its Accountant General and the Auditor General for interrogation on how the finances of the state were mismanaged.

But dispelling the allegation, the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Lanre Ogunsuyi, said the APC’s allegation was ludicrous.

Ogunsuyi said, “The governor is on holiday like every other worker who has worked conscientiously throughout the year; it was not an official journey and it means the governor will be responsible for all the expenses, because he travelled as Mr. Fayose and not as Governor Fayose.

“The APC is talking, having lost all relevance. Every worker in Ekiti has been paid the October salary, unless the party has a different calendar, what is outstanding is November and December salaries and the people could understand the reason behind it.

“The bailout was expended as instructed by the CBN. It is left for the CBN through its audit mechanism to say anything in response to what the APC has said.

They are campaigning to gain some relevance they have lost.

“They should send their petition to the EFCC, because they are the one that has power to probe and indict,” he said.

Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu apologises to Buhari, Jonathan

Embattled Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has apologised to President Muhammadu Buhari for referring to him as “a terrorist, evil and a paedophile” in some of his radio messages.

The Federal Government had charged Kanu, alongside two others, before a Federal High Court in Abuja on six counts of treason and other ancillary offences.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in a statement he made to the Department of State Service, DSS, on October 23 said he intended to write a private letter to Buhari to express his apology for his comments.

The 48-year-old pro-Biafran agitation leader in the statement also apologised to former President Goodluck Jonathan and Igbo elders for “some uncomplimentary things” he said about them in his broadcast messages.

Kanu who has been in custody of the DSS since his arrest in Lagos on October 14, 2015 was however unapologetic about his demand for a Republic of Biafra.

The prosecution, in its summary of the case, alleged that in one of the radio broadcasts by Kanu on August 1, 2015, he expressed his resolve to actualise the Republic of Biafra and “cast aspersions on the person and the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.

The statement read, “Reference to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a terrorist, evil and a paedophile is regrettable and uncalled for and for that, I unreservedly apologise and will be doing so in a private letter to the President.

“Before PMB (President Muhammadu Buhari) there was the administration of Goodluck Jonathan. I also said uncomplimentary things about him and Igbo elders as well, which I now recognise should not have happened because it is un-African to be rude or insolent to elders.

“All I was trying to do is to draw attention to the problems afflicting society and something done about them.”

Kanu, a British-Nigerian citizen while justifying his agitation for a Biafra Republic said the secessionist agenda was informed by the “incessant hardship, lack of holistic development in the socio-economic landscape of Nigeria, lack of youth employment, corruption in high offices and economic regression.”

He revealed that the group’s agitation was founded in London in 2012 by a group of people from the South-South and South-East regions of the country, adding that it was in line with the United Nations Charter on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples ratified by African countries, including Nigeria.

The embattled IPOB leader who is a son of a traditional ruler in Abia State, Sir I.O. Kanu, said contrary to the prosecution describing IPOB as unlawful, the group was registered with the UN to pursue the rights of the people of Biafra.

He stated, “I can confirm that I, Nnamdi Kanu, is the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra worldwide as a legitimately and duly registered body at the United Nations pursuing the rights of a specific Indigenous people, in this case, Biafra, to seek self determination according to the said charter.

“The reason for the formation of the Indigenous People of Biafra is to avail those referring to themselves as Biafrans the opportunity made available as a result of the United Nations declaration to seek the peaceful rebirth of Biafra in line with international law.”

Kanu further stated that he operated Radio Biafra, whose programmes “are designed to wake up the public from its slumber and address the issues of the time” in line with his belief in free speech and freedom of expression.

He also alleged that Biafra Republic comprised of Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, Imo, Anambra, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta states as well the Igbanke part of Edo State; Igala part of Kogi State and Idoma/Igede part of Edo State.

FG to Borrow N5b Daily to Fund 2016 Budget..... Is This Budget Not Nonsensical????

President Buhari presents the 2016 Budget to a joint President Muhammadu Buhari presented the 2016 Budget tagged ‘Budget of Change’ amidst high hopes and dreams.

The budget which included the ambitious N5,000 welfare scheme and feeding of primary school students has been described as the budget that will set the nation on the path to economic recovery.

The Peoples Democratic Party recently alleged that Buhari’s administration will have to borrow N5 billion everyday in 2016 to fund its N6.08 trillion budget.

The figure was calculated by dividing by 365 days, the N1.84 trillion that the administration said it would borrow to fund the budget.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh insisted that the budget will mortgage the future of the country.

He said “When we analysed the budget, we discovered it is a misshapen attempt at a Keynesian economics of applying deficit spending to stimulate growth even when studies have proven that GDP growth rates decrease by over 50 per cent when debt goes from low or moderate to high.

But then we know the borrowing here is to pay huge campaign debt and fund a political war chest.

“By every standard, this budget is a booby trap against the nation. When you break down the proposed N1.84 trillion borrowing, you discover that it amounts to borrowing N5 billion everyday for the 365 days in 2016.

The questions are:

for what specific projects are they borrowing N5 billion per day and how do they intend to pay back?”

The same budget also proposed that the presidency will spend a total of N3,630,000,000 on a fleet of BMW cars. 189.1m is voted for tyres for various vehicles, including the bulletproof and plain Mercedes Benz cars being used in the Presidency.

President Buhari will spend N1,415,706,197 on both local and international travels and transportation as against the N944,672,109 spent in 2015 by him and his predecessor, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, on travels and transportation.

Acquisition of presidential canteen materials and kitchen equipment has increased from N83.1m this year to N89m in 2016

The budget includes general renovation of the Guest House (N387m); complete furnishing of the Guest House (N45m); purchase of computers (27.5m) and construction and provision of recreational facilities (764m).

N30m is to be spent on the purchase of tool boxes, car jacks, and diagnostic machines for the Presidency’s bulletproof cars, the purchase of C-Caution triangles, fire-extinguishers and cables will also cost N27m.

Barca's An Hour Signee: I Am Not Responsible For The Anti-Catalonia Tweets – Guardiola

Sergi Guardiola has denied writing the offensive tweets that led World champions Barcelona to cancel his contract.

He however, conceded he understands the stance adopted by the Liga leaders.

Barca announced Monday that the 24-year-old had agreed a deal to join Gerard Lopez’s Barca B team, only to confirm later in the day that the contract had been rescinded after posts from 2013, sent from the player’s Twitter account and featuring a pro-Real Madrid and anti-Catalonia slogan, resurfaced online.

Midfielder Guardiola, though, claims he was not responsible for the tweets.

He told Onda Cero: “It is a misunderstanding. I didn’t write [the tweets], it was in 2013 and I didn’t even know they existed.

“It was put on my profile, but it wasn’t me. “I ask for forgiveness a thousand times — I have learnt a difficult lesson.

“Barca have behaved really well with me. I understand their decision. I wouldn’t be capable of putting something like that, though.

“Once you become a professional, you support the team that plays the best football, which is Barca.

“I’m from Mallorca, I’m not anti-Catalan or anti-anything.

My dream was to play for Barca, now it's broken.”

End Time Imam?? Imam allegedly slits 20-year-old lover’s throat in attempt to use her for money ritual (PHOTOS)

Mallam Shehu
There was pandemonium in Mowo 11, Olorunda Local Council Development Area of Badagry, Lagos State, on Tuesday following alleged attempt by an Islamic cleric identified as Mallam Shehu, also known as Alhaji Sambo to use his 20-year-old lover, Busayo Amdalat, for money ritual.

It was learnt that Amdalat, who resides in Ibeju-Lekki, visited the cleric to spend the Christmas holidays.

According to sources, in the early hours of Tuesday the cleric had another visitor known as Ifa.

Following Ifa’s visit, Amdalat was asked to put on a white cloth and when she did, Shehu and his visitor hit her with an iron rod on her head and Ifa started slashing her throat.

The 20-year-old was said to have gathered courage by hitting Ifa on the head with a bottle while he was cutting her throat after which she ran to a nearby street where a carnival was going on.
Residents on seeing Amdalat drenched in a pool of her own blood and injuries on her neck and other parts of her body, rushed her to an undisclosed hospital in the area.

Speaking with Vanguard, a resident who identified himself as Taiwo Abdulraman said on sighting the victim, residents quickly mobilized themselves into two groups: one group went after the cleric and his friend while others rushed her to hospital.

Abdulraman said, “We quickly mobilised and went after him, when we got to his house, we saw blood in parts of the building.

There were lots of charms and other fetish substances in his house. We saw the iron rod and the sharp knife he used on her, but we didn’t meet him in the house.

We also quickly mobilized and went to his second house at MTN Bus Stop, but he was nowhere to be found.”

The 20-year-old victim while narrating her ordeal said

“We both had a quarrel before now for close to three weeks. I knew his first wife before she died but the second wife did not want him to marry me but he resolved that he was going to marry me. I even got pregnant for him but he rejected the pregnancy at some point in time.

“I went to report him to a Muslim cleric but the cleric said there was nothing he could do to convince my lover to accept the pregnancy.

For about two months, I did not call Sambo and because of the issue, I changed my telephone number.

“So, yesterday, Sambo and a man called Ifa were having a discussion in his house. Before I knew it, he started taking lots of alcohol; when I cautioned him, he refused to listen to me. He even offered me some but I rejected it.

“Later that night, he asked me to wrap myself in a white clothing of which I obliged. The man called Ifa wanted to use a cloth to cover my face and in the process, Sambo came in with an iron rod and hit me on the head.

I shouted but nobody heard me because it was a
bushy area.

“Ifa and Sambo attacked me with a knife but I managed to lock myself in a room. I now lied to them that I had called one of the neighbours, it was in that process that they left and I managed to escape from the house.”

Zaria Killings: I warned Zakzaky against blocking roads – Sheikh Gumi

Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Gumi
Kaduna based renowned Islamic scholar, Dr Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, yesterday reflected on the recent bloody stand-off between security forces and members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, otherwise known as Shiites, saying he earlier warned their leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, of the dangers of blocking the highways during Arbaeen.

He said the Shiite leader had been running a parallel government in most parts of the North in the past 40 years.

Gumi told newsmen in Kaduna yesterday that the Shiites had been undergoing military training and producing military cadets and soldiers, adding: “They are operating a state within a state.”

He said: “The Islamic Movement of Nigeria does not recognise the corporate entity of Nigeria and the group is not registered, they operate above the law and they get direct foreign aid.

“Former President Umaru Yar ádua had told me of the massive importation of ammunitions and weapons to different parts of the country, the president had mentioned Iran as supplying arms to the Shittes.

The recent clash between the army and Shiites is a divine intervention to prevent a catastrophe like that of Boko Haram.

It came suddenly and was so powerful to eradicate and uproot any plan that they must have been nursing to harm the society.

“I had written Zakzaky about a year ago, warning him of the dangers of blocking roads during the annual Ar’baeen trek, where his followers travel on foot from all over the country to Zaria,” he said.

The scholar warned that the North would continue to be underdeveloped if the twin evils of Shiites and Boko Haram are not eradicated, adding that the strife and unnecessary blocking of roads and shouting slogans on the highways increases tension in the region.

Melaye Tears PDP Constitution At APC Rally, Chides PDP

Sen. Dino Melaye
The Chairman of the Senate ad hoc Committee on Publicity, Senator Dino Melaye, on Tuesday, tore the Peoples Democratic Party membership card of the immediate past commissioner representing Cross River State on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Mr. Paul Adah.

Melaye also tore the party’s constitution as the former NDDC commissioner joined the ranks of eminent PDP stalwarts that have defected to the All Progressives Congress in the state.

At a rally held at the APC ward secretariat in Ohong-Begiadang community of the Obudu Local Government Area, Melaye, who represents Kogi-West senatorial district, said there was no doubt that the party would take over power from the PDP in the state.

The Governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade, is from Obudu LGA. Present at the event was the National Vice-Chairman of the APC, South-South, Mr. Hilliard Eta, while the immediate past Senate Majority Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, and a former governor of the state, Chief Clement Ebri, were among those who had already identified with the APC.

According to Melaye, any election in the state will not favour the PDP. He said the APC was a progressive party that would rescue the country from the rot it had suffered.

While tearing the PDP constitution, he said the party was responsible for all the problems the country was facing.

“The PDP is responsible for all the problems that we are facing in Nigeria today,” Melaye said. Registering in his ward, Adah said he wanted to identify with the spirit of change after resigning his membership of the PDP which he belonged to for 15 years.

Adah, who also represented the Obudu/Obanliku/Bekwarra federal constituency in the House of Representatives, promised to work hard to bring change to the state.

Ward chairman of the APC, Mr. Charles Betelwhobel, who expressed delight over the development, said the PDP was losing its hold on the state.

He expressed the hope that the APC would take over power in the state.
Also speaking, Eta, who welcomed Adah and other defectors from the area into the party, promised that they would enjoy all the rights and privileges of every other member.
