FG owes Nigerian universities N660bn – ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has revealed that the Federal Government is indebted to Nigerian universities to the tune of N660bn.

Addressing newsmen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Monday, ASUU Zonal Coordinator, University of Ibadan, Prof. Segun Ajiboye said the money was part of the unpaid Needs Assessment Intervention Fund for Nigerian universities.

Ajiboye reminded the federal government that the 2009 agreement which was due for a review in 2012 has not been addressed.

He noted that the body had written severally to the government on the need to restart negotiation on the agreement so as to reflect modern realities.
