A 38-year-old man, Idowu Ajewole, has been accused of inadvertently causing the death of his neighbour, identified as Monday Bassey, over the loss of his Christmas fowl.

The case, which had already been taken to the Akure Chief Magistrate Court was currently under investigation by the Police in Ondo state.

It was gathered during the weekend that the accused, Ajewole, accidentally killed Bassey on December 12, 2015 at Adebowale Street, in Oke Aro area of Akure.

During a court hearing, Police prosecutor, Pelumi Adejuwon, said the 28-year-old deceased was a neighbour to the accused person and the duo had disagreement over the sudden disappearance of a Christmas fowl in their rentage flats.

Adejuwon further told the court that the accused person and owner of the fowl narrated in his statement that the feather of his lost bird was discovered in the luggage of the deceased after some days while exiting the compound.

He said the owner of the fowl reported the case to the police while officers came with a vehicle to invoke an arrest on the alleged thief, but in the process of forcing him to enter into the police waiting van, he fell on the floor and hit his head on the vehicle door and died as a result of the injury.
