Former PDP chairman, Mohammed Bello arrives court in wheel chair

Former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Haliru Bello, on Tuesday arrived the Federal High Court Abuja in a wheel chair for his arraignment in the $2.1 billion arms deal scandal.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arrested Bello December last year for allegedly receiving N600m from the office of the National Security Adviser in the name of Bam properties.

The anti-graft agency said the alleged sum was part of the $2.1 billion funds meant for the procurement of arms for the military during the last administration.

His arraignment was meant to take place last week Wednesday but could not due to his health challenge.
