KOGI2015: APC may replace Audu as governorship candidate

There are indications that the All Progressives Congress (APC) may replace Abubakar Audu as its governorship candidate in the November 21 governorship election in Kogi State, reports NewsDay.

The party’s Governorship Primary Election Appeal Panel has called for Audu's disqualification on a variety of allegations, bothering on corruption and violation of the provisions of the constitution of the party and the guidelines for the conduct of the primary.

The APC appeal panel, chaired by Dr. Sam Sam Jaja, with Ahmad El-Marzuq and Tunde Imolehin serving as secretary and member respectively, in an 11-page report, expressly called for the nullification of the emergence of Audu as the candidate of the APC in the gubernatorial election in the state.

The panel in report, which has already been submitted to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), said the party should replace Audu with Yahaya Bello, who scored the second highest votes and who is constitutionally eligible to contest the governorship election.

There are, however, moves by some powerful forces in the party, who are working against the implementation of the report.

It is unclear if the APC leadership is ready to implement the recommendation of the appeal committee or not.
