Facebook Deploys Safety Check Feature For Paris Disasters

A Facebook feature implemented to help track people after natural disasters has been launched tonight to help people connect with their friends and family after the Paris attacks.

If you’re looking for the status of friends who might be in Paris, head to the Safety Check page on your Facebook account.

The page will list your friends who last checked in around Paris and give you a running tally of who is marked safe.

People who are in Paris can either mark themselves safe or be marked safe by another friend, and the update is added to their Facebook feed.

In addition to the check-in process, the Safety Check page allows you to subscribe to notifications, which will alert you as your friends check in.

Not everyone knows about this feature but the service seems like a smart way to keep track of people and communicate with travel restricted and a State of emergency declared.

Troops Burst Sambisa Forest, Destroy Boko Haram Guard Post, Kill Insurgents

The Nigerian troops continued their quest to rid
Sambisa forest of Boko Haram elements with a
successful onslaught on the sect’s camp.

This is coming barely 24 hours after the pounced on the insurgents and chased them into the forest after a failed attempt to attack Gwoza in Borno State.

In the Sambisa onslaught, troops destroyed one of the sects’ guard posts in the forest and killed some members of the group.

Images obtained show Boko Haram flags, arms,
weapons, launchers and motorcycle set ablaze by troops.

“Sambisa is a very wide place. It has different camps occupied by armed insurgents. “The one destroyed today by troops is one out of many.

They have been raiding the camps and will continue to do this to rid the forest of Sambisa,” a source said.

Rev Fr. Mbaka Says Pro-Biafra Protests ‘Evil’

A Catholic Priest in Enugu, Rev Fr. Ejike Mbaka
has condemned the recent agitation and protests for Biafra nation describing the action as `evil.’
Mbaka made the condemnation in Enugu on Saturday in a sermon at his weekly Adoration Ministry.

The cleric urged youths in the South East and South-South to go back to their business as the protest could lead to their death.
“Locking up your shops and disrupting economic activities will not add any naira to your pocket, whatever grievance you have could be resolved through dialogue,’’ the cleric said.

He lambasted those leaders that were behind the
agitation and protests, saying that they should use their children for the struggle.
Mbaka commended President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing ministers from the zone and assigning them with good portfolios.

“President Buhari’s action has proven that the South East has not been marginalized. I would have reacted if no minister emerged from the zone,’’ he said.

He said that the five states in the zone had minister each as prescribed by the Nigerian constitution as well as other key security and protocol officers that serves under president and his wife.

The reverend father attributed the recent free health screening initiative by the Wife of the president, Mrs Aisha Buhari, in Enugu to her love for the people of the region.

He blamed the Igbo leaders for not living up to the expectation of the people in the area, adding that past governors, National Assembly members failed wot fully in discharging their mandates.

“President Buhari is not the cause of poor roads,
unemployment and other decay infrastructures in the south east, we should blame our leaders.
“Most of the roads had been awarded but our leaders squandered the fund, even the university teaching hospital in Enugu is a no-go-area and our leaders are not concerned about it,” he said.

Mbaka called on the new Minister of Labour and
Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, to use his office to employ youths in the zone, adding that it would stop what he called another Boko Haram in the south east if not curtailed.

He praised Buhari’s war against corruption, saying it had enthroned due process and sanity in governance.
The cleric, however, urged Nigerians to be patient with the president as he had good plans for the country.

“Don’t forget we were in the same hotel and used the same pitch to train and I have been impressed with what I saw them do in Chile.

“Their invitation is only to tell other players that they too can progress to the senior cadre if they are level headed and keep working on their game.

PoliFocus Feels For France On Paris Attacks

I write to add my voice to the global condolences to France over attacks that killed 127 people in Paris, saying it sent fighters strapped with suicide bombing belts and carrying machine guns to various locations in the heart of the capital.
May God console all the families involved but as we pray for France, we should also remember our own Chibok girls that are still in the hands of the insurgents, called boko haram.

It will be recalled that Islamic State In Syria (ISIS) earlier today claimed responsibility for this henious act.

We cannot continue to live in fear, I'm using this medium to call on all the security outfits all over the world to step up their games, in order combat and prevent this kind of colossus loss of lives and properties.

Also citizens should be ready to cooperate as to giving the needed information or tips that may help in combating and investigation of crime or crime related matters.

Better world is possible, with you and I.

Islamic State Claims Responsibility For Paris Attacks

Islamic State claimed responsibility on Saturday for attacks that killed 127 people in Paris, saying it sent fighters strapped with suicide bombing belts and carrying machine guns to various locations in the heart of the capital.

The attacks were designed to show France would remain a top target for the jihadist group as long as the country continued its current policies, the group said in a statement.

Gunmen and bombers killed at least 127 people in Friday’s attacks.
Islamic State earlier on Saturday distributed an undated video threatening to attack France if bombings of its fighters continued.

The group’s foreign media arm, Al-Hayat Media Centre, made threats through several militants who called on French Muslims to carry out attacks.

“As long as you keep bombing you will not live in peace. You will even fear traveling to the market,” said one of the militants, identified as Abu Maryam the Frenchman.

French President Francois Hollande said on Saturday the attacks in Paris were “an act of war” organized from abroad by Islamic State with internal help.

The location of the Islamic State fighters in the video was not clear and it was not possible to determine when it was filmed, but the message was unmistakable.

The militants, who appeared to be French citizens, sat cross-legged in a group wearing fatigues and holding weapons in what appeared to be a wooded area.

The video showed the militants burning passports. “Indeed you have been ordered to fight the infidel wherever you find him – what are you waiting for?
There are weapons and cars available and targets ready to be hit,” said Abu Maryam.

Another militant, identified as Abu Salman the
Frenchman, said: “Even poison is available, so poison  the water and food of at least one of the enemies of Allah.”

“Terrorize them and do not allow them to sleep due to fear and horror,” he added.
Foreign fighters who join Islamic State, the group which controls large swathes of Iraq and Syria, are seen as especially dangerous because Western passports enable them to live in and travel to Western countries undetected.

“Faced with war, the country must take appropriate action,” Hollande said, without saying what that meant.
Hollande said he would address parliament on Monday in an extraordinary meeting and the country would observe three days of official mourning for the victims of Friday’s attacks.

Sacked Catholic Gay Priest Says No Regrets

Krzysztof Charamsa
More than a month after the Vatican fired high-ranking priest Krzysztof Charamsa for his very public coming-out, he says he has no regrets and is planning a book about his experience.

The Polish priest made waves last month when he announced his homosexuality — and said he had a Spanish boyfriend — on the eve of a bishops’ synod on the family at the Vatican.

Charamsa was sacked from his post working for the Vatican office for protecting Catholic doctrine, and the 43-year-old is now unemployed.

“I now feel better gay and more of a priest than before,” he told AFP at a hotel in the heart of Barcelona, where he now lives in the gay district.

Smiling, he said he felt “liberated” and “at peace”, but still had a lot to say about the Church, which he accuses of persecuting homosexuals.

“It’s not like the Islamic State (group) that hounds homosexuals by killing them. The Catholic Church doesn’t actually kill people, but it kills them psychologically,” he said.

“It kills them with its backward stance, with its reject, contempt and constant preaching against
homosexuals.” Sporting a black suit and blue   shirt, Charamsa detained his “New manifesto for gay liberation”, which he plans to hand over to the Vatican in the hope of changing the Church’s stance on homosexuality.

“A form of new Ten Commandments to apply in this field”, it asks the Vatican to discard Church documents that are hostile towards homosexuals, such as Benedict XVI’s 2005 edict banning bishops from ordaining homosexuals into the priesthood.

As such, the manifesto calls on the Vatican to allow gays to become priests, and also to revise its interpretation of Biblical texts on this issue.
It also suggests kickstarting dialogue with Evangelists and Anglicans, whom Charamsa says are more open on gay rights, and asks for apologies from the Vatican.

“for its omissions and silences, persecutions and
crimes against homosexuals throughout the centuries.”

Nnamdi Kanu’s Parents Beg FG To Release Their Son

Parents of Nnamdi Kanu, promoter of radio Biafra have appealed to the Federal Government to order the release of their son from detention.

Speaking on Kanu’s prolonged detention, his father, the monarch of Isiama Afaraukwu in Umuahia North Council Area of Abia State wondered why his son was been detained for so long.

Speaking with newsmen, at his Ome Udo Palace, Eze Israel Kanu, in company of his wife, Ugoeze Nnenne Kanu, lamented over the ordeal of their first son who is currently in custody of security men.

“I am pleading with the Federal Government to release my son. Let his freedom be restored. I am aware that in Nigeria the Constitution guarantees freedom of speech
and freedom of expression.

“I am surprised that my son is being detained. I have been asking why he is being held without getting an answer,” Eze Kanu lamented.

Eze Kanu noted that the family has been thrown into a state of agony because they have been denied access to the detained activist.

“I was confused because my son was coming to see me when he was arrested. When I asked where he was arrested, they said Abuja. I sent to confirm his state of health and the report I got is that he is alive, that is why I am able to talk now,” he said.

According to the monarch, the pro-Biafran activist who was born during the Nigeria-Biafra war was not the trouble making type, adding that Kanu has never discussed his pro-Biafran activism with him.

Eze Kanu said,“my son is not a trouble maker, and his campaign reflects the mind of the majority of the people in the South East geopolitical zone given the protests that have trailed his arrest and detention.’’

Reacting to whether he could advise the activist to put a stop to his agitation, the monarch noted that he could not guarantee that as his son is a full-fledged adult.

“My son is an adult and fully mature to be able to express his mind on any issue,” Eze Kanu affirmed.

SHOCKING: Man Held For Robbery Day After Leaving Prison

Segun Adeleke
Old habits die hard. A 39-year-old man, Segun Adeleke has been arrested for allegedly robbing a motorcyclist in Oyo town.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Adeleke had served two separate jail terms and his latest arrest came a day after he completed a five-year jail term.

According to police authorities, he was released from prison on November 4, 2015 and allegedly committed robbery the following day.

While parading the suspect and others, the state
Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade, said
“The victim, Azeez Saheed, was robbed by the
suspect while returning from his farm at Abu Village via Akinmorin, Oyo.

The suspect barricaded the road with logs of wood waiting for the suspect. He tried to overpower his victim by stabbing him with a
broken bottle but despite his injury, the victim raised the alarm which eventually led to his arrest.”

The suspect, who said he regretted his action, confirmed that he had served two jail terms of seven years for robbery.

He explained that he was jailed for the first time in 2000. He said after his release, he had no relatives to assist him financially and he had no other option but to return to his old ways.

“I spent five years in prison and I was just released. However, I was hungry after leaving prison recently.

I had no relation to feed me in Oyo so I took to
robbery again”, he said. When asked why he had no relatives, the suspect said, “I was born in Ibadan but someone took me and my siblings to Oyo town when I was seven.

We grew up with her because she refused to take us back to our real parents,” he said.
The suspect said he was in his early 20s when he was first sentenced for robbery.

“I stole shirts and money and it earned me two years in jail. In 2000, I robbed a motorcyclist and got arrested. I was put behind bars for the offence in Oyo. I feel sad,” he said

Ekiti Assembly declares Fayose Nigeria’s opposition leader

Ayo Fayose
For his consistent contribution to national issues, Ekiti State House of Assembly yesterday declared Governor Ayodele Fayose as the leader of the opposition in Nigeria.

At a special plenary of the Assembly yesterday, the state lawmakers based their unanimous decision on Fayose’s objective criticism of federal government’s policies and his advocacy for the masses.

The speaker of the Assembly, Hon Kola Oluwawole, his deputy, Segun Adewumi, the House leader, Hon Tunji Akinyele, Hon Gboyega Aribisogan, Hon Samuel Omotoso and Hon Titilayo Owolabi Akerele, took turns to extol the virtues of the governor, praising him for being an articulate, consistent, dogged and prudent
manager of resources since he assumed office.

Commenting on the decision of the assembly, Governor Fayose said: “They are entitled to their opinion. It goes to show that the whole state is in support of all my actions I have been taking and that I will continue to take.

I am that kind of man that can’t be silenced by
anybody. Whether they call me leader of opposition or not, I will continue to speak the truth as long as it is going to be in the interest of the masses”.

Speaking further, Oluwawole said: “Since assumption of office, Fayose has been honest, frank, courageous in his contributions to national issues and shown that he is an epitome of leadership.

“Fayose is an enigma, a good democrat who always speaks on burning issues of national interest without fear or thinking of whose ox is gored.”

REVEALED: Supreme Court Justice Who Halted Saraki Corruption Trial Retiring In Two Weeks

Justice John Fabiyi
Justice John Fabiyi who on Thursday temporarily halted the corruption trial of
Nigeria’s Senate president Bukola Saraki at
the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) retires in two weeks, according to sources at the Supreme Court.

By law, Justice Fabiyi is required to mandatorily retire from the judiciary on November 25 when he turns 70. He was born on November 25 1945
Justice Fabiyi today led four other judges who gave an order to halt the trial of Saraki pending the determination of the Senate President’s appeal before the court. Saraki is seeking an order halting his trial for falsely declaring his assets.

The Senate President has done everything possible to halt his arraignment on 13 counts of false declaration of assets, using various maneuvers in an effort to get judges of different courts in Nigeria to stop his trial.

A source told SaharaReporters that prior to today’s ruling, Toyin Sanusi, one of his aides, drove a Black Toyota Corolla car, license plate YAB 595 KZ, to a meeting several times with the Supreme Court registrar at No. 17, Mandela Street in Asokoro, Abuja. It was in the house that Saraki’s agents reportedly met some justices.

Saraki intensified his plot to stop the CCT trial when officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes commission (EFCC) went last week to see a lawyer with a letter and two cheques that prove he bought a property through a proxy, Tunde Morankinyo, and didn’t declare it.

The EFCC has invited that lawyer to their office tomorrow. The property in question, Plot 37A Glover Street, Ikoyi, was paid for with cheques for N309Million and N15.45Million respectively.

The house, which has six luxury flats, was bought in 2008. When the EFCC Officer confronted Morakinyo with evidence of the cheques, he reportedly buckled under the pressure, sending Saraki into panic mode.

Justice Fabiyi is the infamous judge of the Court of Appeal who in 2007 read the lead judgement of that court proclaiming the election of Umaru Yar’adua to have been “free and fair” and in conformity with the electoral rules.

He was elevated to the Supreme Court after giving that judgement, but Yar’Adua himself subsequently admitted that the election had been massively rigged.

Is Jose Mourinho Paying For His Highhandedness And Talky Way Of Life? (+ His Profile)

Jose Mourinho
Jose Mourinho, the Chelsea FC handler is presently going through a turbulent moment of his career. Mourinho who is no doubt a world class coach and also a choice of many top clubs in the world.

Jose Mourinho who was born on 26th of January, 1963 is a Portuguese football manager and former football player, who is the current manager of English club Chelsea.

He is regarded by a number of players, coaches  and commentators as one of the greatest and most successful managers in the world.

Mourinho began his involvement in professional football as a player in the Portuguese Second Division. He studied sports science in Technical University of Lisbon and attended coaching courses in Britain.

In Lisbon, he worked as a physical education teacher and had spells working as a youth team coach, a scout, and an assistant manager.
In the early 1990s, he became an interpreter for Sir Bobby Robson at Sporting CP and Porto in Portugal, and Barcelona in Spain.

He remained at the Catalonian club working with Robson's successor Louis van Gaal .
Mourinho impressed with brief but successful managerial periods at Benfica and União de Leiria , taking the latter to their highest ever league finish.

He returned to Porto in early 2002 as head coach, winning the Primeira Liga, Taça de Portugal , and UEFA Cup in 2003. In the next
season, Mourinho guided the team to victory in the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira, to the top of the league for a second time, and won the highest honour in European club football, the UEFA Champions League.

Mourinho moved to Chelsea the following year and won the Premier League title with a record 95 points, the club's first league title in 50 years, and the League Cup in his first season.

In his second year, Chelsea retained the Premier
League and in 2006–07 he took the club to an FA Cup and League Cup double . Mourinho left Chelsea in September 2007, amidst reports of a rift with club owner Roman Abramovich.

In 2008, Mourinho moved to Serie A club Internazionale. Within three months he had won his first Italian honour, the Supercoppa Italiana , and completed the season by winning the Serie A title.

In 2009–10, Inter became the first Italian club to win the treble of Serie A, Coppa Italia and the UEFA Champions League, also the first time Inter had won the latter competition since 1965.
Beside Ernst Happel , Ottmar Hitzfeld , Jupp Heynckes and Carlo Ancelotti , Mourinho is one of only five coaches to have won the European Cup with two different teams.

He won the first ever FIFA Ballon d'Or Best Coach Award in 2010. He then signed with Real Madrid in 2010, winning the Copa del Rey in his first season.

The following year, he won the La Liga and became the fifth coach, after Tomislav Ivić , Ernst Happel, Giovanni Trapattoni and Eric Gerets , to have won league titles in at least four different countries: Portugal, England, Italy, and Spain.

After leaving Madrid in June 2013, Mourinho returned to England to manage Chelsea for a second spell. Because of his tactical knowledge, charismatic (but also very controversial) personality and what his opponents regard as emphasis on getting results over playing beautiful football, he is often seen, by both admirers and critics, as the successor of Argentine manager Helenio Herrera.

But since his row and outright dismissal of the team's doctor, Eva Carneiro in August this year, Chelsea FC has been suffering ridiculous defeats both home and away.

I had a from of mine relating a joke about Jose Mourinho, that the rate at which Jose Mourinho looses matches is directly proportional to the no of fines issued by the FA.

Should I say that, he is being punished based on his unguarded utterances that he often make or just because his team are not happy with him generally.

It was in the news few days ago, when Cesc Fabregas said that he prefer to lose a match than to win it for Jose Mourinho, though he has denied the statement but to every every rumour, there is always an iota of truth.

Presently, the Blues is on 16th position on the with just 11 points from 12 matches played! It is very ridiculous for a world class coach to have this kind of record.

He has lost substantial number of matches of resent, even those that were unimaginable. It is my believe that he has missed it somewhere, he should retrace his steps.

His "specialist in failure", Arsene Wenger according to Jose Mourinho won the best coach in EPL for the month of October, presently the reverse is now the case.

Though he said it earlier this week that he is ready to change his pattern of play and behaviour. Because the way things are getting out hands for him may be conspiracy.

It is not over until it is over, he should work on his managerial tactics because he is a revered coach, no doubt about that and this also may be a pointer for him to move to another club or better still another league entirely.

He should also talk less and do more, I see him turning the fortune of Chelsea FC around. He who laugh last, laugh best!

As Buhari Inaugurates His 'Noise Makers'

The long wait and intrigues about the emergence and composition of the Federal Executive Council of President Muhammadu Buhari led federal government has finally come to an end today.

Earlier today, President Muhammadu Buhari sworn-in all his ministers, the event which took place at the Aso Villa gathered the political top notch in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and well-wishers of the new ministers.
After the swearing-in, Buhari made their respective portfolios public and during the process of announcing, he categorically listed himself as the Minister of Petroleum.
It will be recalled that he (President Buhari) has said it many fora that he will take charge of the petroleum sector.

Many people were shocked as to the outright change of Mr. President on the issue of ministers without portfolio, he even said same when he went to India some couple of days ago. His reason was hinged on the dwindling economic status of Nigeria at the moment.

That Nigeria as a country for now cannot pay the salaries of 36 ministers but going by his announcement, all the 36 ministerial nominees, which are now ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria now have portfolios.

The new ministers should see this ample opportunity as another way to better the lots of Nigerians. But the onus is on them, either to prove to we Nigerians that the are not 'noise makers' or confirm the statement as made by President Buhari.

Senators Ahmed Lawan and George Akume, who were favoured by the All Progressives Congress to emerge as Senate President and Deputy Senate President respectively at the May 9 inauguration of the Senate walked out of plenary in protest on Wednesday.

The senators, who walked out in company with some of their colleagues, were protesting the decision of Senate President Bukola Saraki to allow his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu to preside over plenary in his absence.

Ekweremadu presided over the Wednesday sitting because Saraki was at the Presidential Villa to attend the seeating-in of new ministers by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Lawan and three others later held a brief discussion before they left to their various offices in the new senate wing.
The plenary was the first that Ekweremadu will preside over since the inauguration of the Eighth

CBN said “Account holders who are yet to obtain their BVN are enjoined to visit their banks and do the registration.

Gov. Oshiomhole's Chief-Of-Staff , Hon Patrick Obahiagbon Stoned By Angry Protesters

Adams Oshiomhole
Thousands of angry Edo residents made up civil
society groups, students, and market women
yesterday hauled objects at the direction of the Chief of Staff, COS, to the Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Hon Patrick Obahiagbon, yesterday while insisting that state governor must be physically present to listen to their grievances.

The protesters staged a peaceful protest along major streets against the state government and called on the governor to reverse the implementation of the Land Use Charges, planned increment of tuition fees of tertiary institution and multiple taxation, among others.

Security agents made up men of the Nigeria Police Force and Directorate of State Services, DSS, were on ground to ensure that it was not hijacked by hoodlums when the protest began at about 9am from Freedom House along Akpakpava Street.

Some of the messages on the leaflets circulated read:
“No to Impunity, No to Reckless Spending of Tax
Payers Money, No to arbitrary increase of school fees and No to sub-standard educational system.’

They later marched to Government House to formally intimate the state governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of their demands.
The Chief of Staff to the governor, Hon Patrick
Obahiagbon who was on ground to receive the
protesters was shouted at while some youths threw objects at him as they insisted that the governor must address them.

It was later gathered that the governor was not readily available to receive them. Security agents however were able to calm the angry youths and they left government house unattended.

Addressing newsmen at the Nigeria Union of
Journalists’ secretariat, a social commentator and Human right crusader, Rev Olu Martin, said they had to embark on the protest march because of the hardship occasioned by the alleged double taxation and land use charges introduced by the Oshiomhole government.

He said: “We have used every avenue to tell the
governor, when we voted him into office in November 2008, there were promissory notes that made thousands of youths support him and by the definition of democracy by Abraham Lincoln, it was apt then.

“At the beginning, we saw some attempt by the
governor to ameliorate the plight of the people.
In the past when the governor was going on
inspection of projects, people will abandon their
wares without even locking their shops. Nobody
remembers now how you came in but how you left.

It appears the government has turned it ears against the people; all our cries and lamentation have been met with propanganda by government and all we hear is that they are being sponsored.”

Mikel Obi, Kelechi Iheanacho Arrive Super Eagles Camp

The number in the Super Eagles training camp, was swelled by the arrivals of Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi and Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho.

Mikel Obi arrived on Tuesday morning aboard a British Airways flight and was already speaking tough ahead of the match against Swaziland.

“I hope to win (against Swaziland) and I have been doing this from the first day,” he said on arrival.
Iheanacho is also in camp and recalled Seattle
Sounders striker, Obafemi Martins, is expected in the afternoon.

Players already in camp include: Efe Ambrose, Odion Ighalo, Elderson Echiejile, Alex Iwobi, Rabiu Ibrahim, Carl Ikeme as well as the players from the domestic league – Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Austin Oboroakpo, Jamiu Alimi, Orji Kalu and Chima Akas.
Sunday Oliseh will take the first training session by 4pm, at the Abuja National Stadium.

Medical Graduates Without Licence Not Eligible For NYSC –FG

The Federal government has barred all medical graduates from participating in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) until they have secured practice licence from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).

The Registrar/Chief Executive of MDCN, Dr. Abdulmumini Ibrahim while addressing a press conference in Abuja, explained that this decision stemmed from the level of quackery displayed by some of the Youth Corps members posted mostly to rural areas to provide medical services.

Ibrahim said “There has been increasing number of personal non-grata people who are not trained impersonating as medical doctor. The NYSC has inundated us with complaints. Those who have completed their one year internship have been given certificates.

“Most corpers are sent to rural areas. They can only go to service upon presentation of their practice license.
“The council directed that the practice of admitting persons into the NYSC as doctors on the strength of receipt of payment of application fee for full registration be discontinued.

The practice had become a means of quacks
to gain advantage into the scheme.
“This decision was communicated to the NYSC and it was implemented with effect from the orientation camp in May, that only fully registered doctors should be admitted into the
scheme.

Accredited internship training centres were written informing them of this policy.
“The doctors were informed to submit their duly completed and properly signed forms, at least one month to the date of opening of the orientation camp. Most did and have received their certificates of full registration.

A few have problems with their postings which have to be clarified and rectified before their names could be entered into the register.”
He added that there are over 78,000 registered doctors in Nigeria.

He said “There are over 78,000 doctors duly
registered in Nigeria; but that does not translate to those practising in the country. The number practising in Nigeria are less than 40,000.

“The Act establishing the MDCN is long due for review. In other countries, disciplinary organs are free to fine law breakers, but not so in Nigeria.

The Medical and Dental Tribunal cannot enforce more than what is within its mandate. The process of the review of the Act is already being completed.”

Mr Bean’s Wife Divorces Him On Grounds Of “Unreasonable Behaviour”

Rowan Atkinson is better known as ‘Mr Bean’, for his roles in the immensely popular comedy films of the same name.

Many lovers of the gifted 60-year-old have not ceased to be mesmerised with the ease with which he used his brand of clean comedy to blow the minds of both the young and old.

However, his 54-year-old wife has officially left him on the grounds of “unreasonable behaviour”, after he struck up another relationship, this time with a former BBC make-up artist who is half his age.

A court in the UK granted the couple a decree nisi, in a short hearing lasting less than a minute. They both failed to show up at the hearing.

Atkinson and wife, Sunetra, had been married since 1990 and have a 22-year-old son, Ben, and a 20-yesr-old daughter, Lily.

He had been dating 32-year-old Louise Ford for 18 months, which caused his wife to split from him in 2014.

Pandemonium As Two House Of Representatives Members Exchange Slaps

Pandemonium broke out on the floor of the House of Representatives on Tuesday when two members of the honourable House exchanged hot slaps.

Honourables Ali Madaki (APC – Kano) and Herman Hembe (APC – Benue) had a go at each other over the contentious issue of choice committees, with supporters on both sides
scrambling to separate the fight.

Reports say the fisticuffs occurred in the White House in the National Assembly, before the commencement of the day’s proceedings.

The warring members are said to be in the opposing camps of Speaker Yakubu Dogara and House Majority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila, who are both members of the All Progressives Congress.

It will be recalled that the Speaker had earlier inaugurated 96 standing committees in the House, with supporters of the Majority Leader accusing him (Dogara) of sidestepping the leadership of the House in appointment of the Chairmen and Deputy Chairmen of the committees.

Many supporters of the Majority Leader had vehemently kicked against what they described as the Speaker’s unhealthy romance with the members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in the House.

It took the intervention of the Deputy Speaker of the House, Hon. Yusuf Lasun, before the situation was brought under control.
