EBOLA Again? EBOLA Scare Hits Nigeria Again, 10 Persons Quarantined As Cross River State Government Debunks The Claim

EBOLA Scare Hits Nigeria Again, 10 Persons
Quarantined

University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, has quarantined ten persons following the death of a patient in the hospital with symptoms suspected to be Ebola virus.

“On Wednesday, 7th October, 2015, we managed a patient who presented with symptoms mimicking viral hemorrhage (Ebola Virus) and have decided to take the necessary measures.”

Dr. Queeneth Kalu, Chairman of Medical Advisory Committee of the hospital who made the revelation on Thursday in Calabar while addressing pressmen said blood samples have been sent to the Ebola
Diagnosing Centre in Benin City, Edo State.

Dr. Kalu stated that those quarantined are principally nurses who attended to the patient and those who came in contact with him before his death.

“The following have been informed: National Centre for Disease Control, Federal Ministry of Health, The Cross River State Government, Calabar Municipality, and the Department of State Security Services, DSS”

Ministerial list: Senators Lay Ambush, Rules That At Least Two Senators From Nominee 's State Must Endorse Him/er

Every ministerial nominee must be endorsed by at least two senators from their state, the senate ruled on Thursday after deliberating on the procedures for the screening which commences on Tuesday.

Except there is last-minute realignment of forces, some of the ministerial nominees may not scale through.
Rotimi Amaechi, former governor of Rivers state, has been openly antagonised by the three PDP senators from his state.

It is also believed that Babatunde Fashola, former governor of Lagos state, may be affected by the proviso, which is not new but had been used in the past to disqualify certain nominees.

Fashola is not thought to be a nominee of Bola Tinubu whom the three APC senators from Lagos state are loyal to.

According to Dino Melaye, spokesman of the senate, the upper chamber would adopt constitutional provisions and conventions of the senate as modalities for screening the nominees.

Melaye said the senate would apply section 147 of the Nigerian constitution, which states a nominee must be an indigene of one of the 36 states of the federation, in the exercise.

He also disclosed that the senate would use section 14(3) of the 1999 constitution, which stipulates that a nominee must be eligible by age and academic qualification to be confirmed as a minister.

The adhoc senate spokesman said the ministerial nominees would also show prove of asset declaration at the code of conduct bureau in the process.

He said former lawmakers who are nominees would be given preference in line with the conventions of the senate.

However, he added that the preference did not imply they would take “a bow and go”.
Melaye announced that all the ministerial nominees must submit at least 105 copies of their curriculum vitae to the senate before October 12.

Politics: I Have Left PDP For Life, Says Chief Edwin Clark

AN elder statesman and Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark, has said he had ceased to be a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), but quickly averred that he is not joining any other political party.

Clark, a former Minister of Information, made the declaration while receiving members of the Think Nigeria First Initiative (TNFI), in Abuja.

He has made a U-turn on his decision to go on exile paradventure Muhammadu Buhari wins the general election. But the reality has dawn on him now.

He was known to be a staunch supporter of the former President, Goodluck Jonathan. This he didn't hide even till the period of the last general elections, this may not be unconnected to the fact that two of them are from same region.

The Ijaw leader used the occasion to declare his decision to finally cease further partisan political activities, but to rather stand up against any individual or group that tried to take Nigeria for a ride.

“I no longer belong to any political party. I am no more in PDP and won’t move to All Progressives Congress (APC).

As I almost clock 90, I will rather continue to advocate for better, peaceful and prosperous Nigeria and die gracefully on Nigerian soil,” he said.

Clark also used the occasion to condemn the activities of the insurgent group, saying that “Boko Haram is a problem for all of us Nigerians and we must all fight it together.”

He, therefore, declared his support for the double war against corruption and terror by President Muhammadu
Buhari.

On corruption, Clark said “the government has the right to investigate, prosecute and jail corrupt people, whether they are Ijaw, Hausa, Fulani or Igbos. Corruption is a monster that must be fought.
“Politicians are mostly the most corrupt people in Nigeria.

That is why every governor wants to become a senator so that he will continue to enjoy immunity from probe and prosecution for corrupt practices.”

He also implored the president to implement the good programmes initiated by the past administration, adding that “it is not everything done by your opponent that is bad.
Select the good ones and implement them and ignore the
bad ones.”

While thanking the Think Nigeria First Initiative for their courtesy visit, Clark declared his support and encourage the initiative to keep thinking Nigeria first, ahead of any personal, ethnic or political sentiment.

News: I'm Tired Of Life, Says Charles Okar, The Mastermind Of Oct 1 Abuja Bomb Blast As He Attempted Suicide In Court

Security operatives attached to Justice Gabriel
Kolawole at the Federal High Court, Abuja, yesterday, prevented Charles Okah, the alleged mastermind of the 2010 Independence Day bombing from committing suicide in court.

Okah, who is standing trial on charges of terrorism, had sought the permission of the judge to speak on what he termed “endless trial,” as his counsel was absent in court.
The judge granted the oral application and permitted Okah to speak for about five minutes.

Okah said: “I have been incarcerated for about five years now and I have a family to cater for. My
children would grow up without feeling the warmth of their father and I am tired of this endless trial. I really do not know what I have done to be treated this way.

“Is it not better to die than to wait and be messed up
this way?” he said

Immediately after Okah ended his speech, he
grabbed a chair in the court and quickly moved
toward a window on third floor of the five-storey building and attempted to jump down.

He was immediately pulled back by security
operatives, lawyers and other litigants from
embarking on the action.

Consequently, Kolawole adjourned the case to
October 20 for continuation of trial. Others charged in the case are Obi Nwabueze and Edmund Ebuware.

The fourth accused, Tiemkemfa Osuvwo, died in Kuje prison, while Ebuwari has been jailed for life as his case was separately decided.

However, Okah and Nwabueze have been facing long trial as a result of the introduction of numerous
injunctions from both the prosecution and defence teams.

Mr. Okah, whose elder brother, Henry, was convicted of same crime in South Africa, was charged with one-count charge which contains 22 particulars of overt acts of treason and another 8-count charge of terrorism.

It is my believe that security should be tight around him so that he does not suceed in this path of suicide that he has chosen.

Ministerial List: Announcement Of My Name Came As A Surprise, Says Kayode Fayemi

MUST READ: For Demanding For Another Round Of S*x From A Prostitute, See What This Guy Got.

Precious Osas, 36, was arrested and charged before Isolo Magistrates’ Court for biting off a 25 year old man’s ear, Chikwado omokwa, Over $ex in Lagos State.

The incident happened at a popular hotel in Okota where they lodged for a night’s romp.

According to the police, Precious, believed to be a commercial $ex worker, allegedly collected N3,500 from Omokwa for an all night $ex romp and failed to fulfill her own part of the bargain.

It was gathered that Precious struggled to cope
with Omokwa throughout the period the $ex lasted because of his high libido.

Trouble started after Precious allowed Omokwa a round of $ex and told him she wasn’t ready for
another round until he paid her more money.

This resulted in exchange of words and a fight ensued between the $ex partners.
During the fight, Precious allegedly grabbed
Omokwa’s right ear and bit off part of it.....  Hmmmmmm

Omokwa, who was bleeding profusely, raised an
alarm which attracted the attention of the hotel
workers.

Both of them were handed over to the police at Ikota division.
At the the station, Omokwa told the police how he paid Precious N3,500 for $ex throughout the night and equally paid extra N350 for registration.

He said Precious allowed him  to have $ex only once and told him if he wanted another round, he should pay extra money.

On her part, Precious admitted that Omokwa paid the amount and she allowed him to have $ex with her as agreed.

It is my hope that it is settled for them amicably.

News: Popular musician, Yinka Ayefele, hospitalised after attack in Ondo State.

Aftermath of attacks by hoodlums in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Saturday, popular gospel musician, Yinka Ayefele, has been hospitalised following impact of the injuries he sustained in the attack.

The musician was, on Monday afternoon, rushed to an undisclosed hospital in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, where he had gone to honour the invitation of the Ekiti State government to perform at the World Teachers Day organised by the state government.

Reports said the artiste was hit with a plank on his chest during the attack on him on Saturday in Akure, Ondo State.

According to a statement by his office, “Yinka Ayefele was attacked by hoodlums on the outskirts of Akure on Saturday, 3rd October, 2015 during a burial party where he was contracted to perform with his band members.

“The hoodlums, after collecting N200,000 from the artiste as 'settlement.' later demanded for another N500,000 which did not go down well with Ayefele and in the process of the argument, he was hit on the chest by a plank which was thrown at him.”

Benue South Senatorial Election: Mark reaffirms faith in Judiciary as Tribunal upholds his election

The immediate past President of the Senate, Chief David Mark has reacted to his validation of his election into the eighth Senate by asserting that the judiciary remains the hope and defender of the rights of the oppressed.

Mark, in a statement sent to DAILY POST yesterday by his Media Assistant, Paul Mumeh, reaffirmed his faith in the sanctity of the Judiciary and rule of law in view of the National and State assembly elections petition tribunal sitting in Makurdi, Benue state which upheld his election.

He expressed appreciation to the judiciary for standing by the truth which led to the reaffirmation “of the mandate freely given to him by the people of Benue South Senatorial district.”

It should be recalled that Mark of the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, and Dan Onjeh of the All
Progressives Congress, APC, contested the Benue
South Senatorial seat in the March 28 National
Assembly election.

Mark was declared winner of the election, which his opponent claimed recorded several irregularities.

The APC flag bearer consequently approached the court, seeking dissolution of the poll.
Mumeh however quoted Mark as promising “to do everything that is constitutionally right to bring dividend of democracy to the door steps of his constituents and beyond”.

The statement reports that the Justice Mosumola
Dipeolu-led tribunal had earlier in a unanimous
judgment that lasted for over two on Tuesday,
dismissed the petition brought by the All Progressive Congress, APC, candidate, Comrade Daniel Onjeh
challenging the election of Senator Mark of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

In the judgment, the tribunal held that the petitioner failed to establish any case against Sen Mark, adding that Onjeh and his APC failed to prove allegations of rigging, multiple tumb printing, over stuffing of ballots, allocation of votes, intimidation, harassment and inducement of voters among others.
Justice Dipelou further held that the petitioner failed to substantiate any of his claims which she said was fatal to Onjeh’s case.

The tribunal therefore discountenanced scanty evidence of PW 18 (Expert witness) called by Onjeh because the witness under cross examination accepted that there was error in his data analysis.

Shocking: Man Trying To Flee Country Hidden Inside Suitcase Caught By Airport Security(Photos)

A man has tried to escape a country by hiding inside a suitcase to evade airport security checks.

The man can be seen being dragged inside a heavy bag by a friend at the Jorge Chavez International Airport in Peru's capital Lima.

asked to open his bags.

After remonstrating with security staff and trying to find an excuse not to open the bag, he eventually gave up and unzipped the large black bag.

Police said the man hidden in the case was trying to flee the Peru and both men have since been arrested.
They were taken to another part of the airport where they were questioned and identified, although their names have not yet been revealed.

Sport: You Can Sack Me, Mourinho Tells Chelsea

Under fire Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has called on the club hierarchy to sack him if it pleases before adding that they could rue the given given he is the best manager they ever had.

Speaking to Sky Sports just after the game against Southampton, Mourinho was bullish in his assessment of the match insisting that his team will still finish in the top four by the end of the season.
Mourinho looking confused as the match came to a close.

He said: “If the club wants to sack me they have to sack me because I am not running away from my responsibility, my team.

“To be champions now is obviously very, very difficult because the distance is considerable. I am more than convinced that we will finish top four.

“It is a crucial moment in the history of this club because if they sack me they sack the best manager this club has ever had.

“The message is that the results are the fault of the manager.
This is a moment for everybody to assume their
responsibilities and stick together.”

The under-fire boss could face his third FA charge of the season after insisting match officials are afraid to give penalties and fouls in his team’s favour.
He continued: “The referees are afraid to give decisions for Chelsea. At 1-1, it is a huge penalty and once again we don't get.

“If the FA wants to punish me they can. They don’t punish other managers. My players deserve it and the fans deserve it.

“Referees are afraid to give decisions for Chelsea. Why?
Because there is always a question mark and we are always punished. Clear penalties are not given. Even in the Champions League in a match we lose 2-1, we are not given a penalty in the last minute.

“The penalty in this game is crucial because my team, at the moment, the first negative thing that happens, they collapse.
The penalty was a giant penalty and after that the team lost even more confidence.”

Willian scored a superb freekick but a Steven Davis volley, Saido Mane goal and Pelle strike condemned Chelsea to their fourth defeat in eight premier league games this season.

It is a common saying that, it is not over until it is over.... Will Jose Mourinho will be able upturn this ugly development, only time will tell.
