Lai Mohammed Releases Bombshell, Says President Buhari Has Lost The Grip Of Nigeria’s Economy

Lai Mohammed, the minister of information, has said on March 12, that the Nigerian economy has gone totally out of President Muhammadu Buhari’s control.

The minister clarified that this was so because Nigeria cannot regulate the price of crude or gas.

Answering to the critics of the incumbent government Mr. Mohammed said President Buhari’s frequent trips abroad, particularly to the oil-producing nations, became imperative because of the urgent need to encourage support for the stability of the global oil prices and also to draw Foreign Direct Investment into Nigeria.

He noted that stabilizing the prices of crude oil will assist in propping up the naira. The minister added that Buhari has been spending countless times outside the country to find solution to the crash in oil prices.

“The is why the president cannot stay here. Staying here in Nigeria is like an army general who in the face of war remains in the bunker,” Mohammed said.

The minister, who made these comments while answering on questions from a radio station in Abuja, said the fact that the incumbent government led by Buhari is still managing to drive the economy is a credit on its side.

Recently the GAIN poll showed that President Buhari’s popularity is gradually dropping following the different challenges the country is facing.

The president has so far visited more than 20 countries since he was inaugurated and he has been given the name ‘Wakawaka Buhari’.

Some called him the ‘Junketer-In-Chief’.

Japan marks fifth anniversary of devastating earthquake and Tsunami that killed thousands

Japan is marking the fifth anniversary of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that left more than 18,000 people dead or missing.

At 2.46pm local time (5.46am), the moment the quake hit, bells rang out across Tokyo and people around the nation bowed their heads in a moment of silence.

Emperor Akihito and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe led a ceremony attended by 12,000 people, bowing in front of a stage laden with white and yellow flowers.

It included survivors from the northeast coastal region of the country, which was virtually wiped out by the tsunami.

A total of 15,894 people are confirmed to have died in the disaster, with 2,562 more unaccounted for. Another 340,000 people were displaced from their homes.

Figures released last year revealed that some 170,000 people remain stuck in temporary accommodation along the worst hit parts of the coast.

The earthquake also triggered the world's worst nuclear disaster since Chernobyl in 1986, crippling the Fukushima nuclear plant.

Meltdowns in three reactors leaked radiation over a wide area of the countryside, contaminating water, food and air.

Some areas remain no-go zones due to high radiation.

The nine-magnitude quake struck offshore, creating a tsunami that swept across the coastline.Naoto Kan, the Prime Minister at the time, has said he feared he would have to evacuate Tokyo and that Japan's very existence could have been in peril.

The current Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe said the five years had been days of hardship and pain for those affected by the disaster, but he has promised enough money to help people in the worst-hit areas rebuild their lives.

Ben Carson Rallies Support For Donald Trump

Dr. Ben Carson said on Thursday that he is “certainly leaning” toward endorsing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, backing up reports that he planned to publicly announce his support in Florida on Friday.

Carson, who ended his presidential bid last week after he failed to turn popularity among evangelical voters into support at the polls, told Fox News that he was leaning toward backing the GOP front-runner.

The retired pediatric neurosurgeon added that there are two Trumps, a public entertainer and a private “thinking individual.”

The latter "is someone who you can reason with very easily, and who is actually very comfortable talking about issues, and recognizing that he doesn’t have all the answers.

It’s a very different one; it’s a night-and-day difference,” Carson said.

“More reasonable, not a know-it-all and someone who recognizes that there are other people who certainly have more expertise in certain areas than he does.

I think you’ll see that start to come out.”On Thursday, several reports emerged that Carson met privately with Trump and planned to formally announce his support today.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki
The prosecution and the defence counsel have agreed on next Friday for the argument of the motion on jurisdiction.

Justice Umar asked the defence to ensure that he served all motions and processes on the prosecution counsel to avoid further delay of the trial.

He therefore adjourned the case to Friday, 18 March, 2016 for moving of the motion and possible hearing of the substantive matter PM News reports. . The Senate President sat in the dock as the lawyers exchanged arguments.

The lead lawyer to Senate President Bukola Saraki, Kanu Agabi stonewalled the trial of his client today, announcing that he had filed a motion since Monday which the tribunal must rule upon before the trial could proceed.

The motion challenges the jurisdiction of the tribunal.Rotimi Jacobs, the prosecution counsel said he was ready for the trial and that his witnesses are in court. But Agabi said the tribunal could not proceed without a ruling on the motion which he said was filed on Monday.

According to him, the motion has been served on the Ministry of Justice. “Your Lordship must rule on the motion no matter how frivolous it is,” Agabi told Mr Danladi Umar.

Jacobs called attention of the court to the ruling of the Supreme Court that the trial must go on.Jacobs said he has not been served any motion until now though the defence counsel knows that he is the prosecutor in the case.

He recalled that the defence counsel had served him a letter asking for adjournment, but failed to serve him the motion challenging. As such, Jacobs said he must enquire from the Ministry of Justice if indeed a motion has been served.

He argued that the business of the day is trial. “This is aa deliberate attempt to frustrate the case, so that the trial will not go on,” said Jacobs.“The business of the day is the trial,” Jacobs said.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed today that they had arrested Richard Nyong, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Lekki Gardens, a construction company handling the construction of a five-story building that collapsed last Tuesday in Lekki, Lagos State.

The death toll from the collapsed building, located on Kushenla Road, Ikate Elegushi in Lekki on Tuesday, has reached 31, according to one state official.

A police spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, disclosed that Mr. Nyong has been detained at Panti Police Station. Ms. Badmos added that the construction firm’s MD would be charged to court as early as tomorrow as investigations are almost completed.

On Wednesday, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State had ordered all directors of Lekki Worldwide Estate Limited to submit themselves to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, within twenty-four hours or face arrest.

In compliance with the governor’s directive, Mr. Nyong reported himself to the office of the Commissioner of Police in the company of his lawyer, Mr. Wole Olanipekun. The police then detained him after an initial interrogation.

Following the collapse of the building, the Lagos State Government revealed that preliminary investigations indicated that state officials had issued a violation notice on the building for exceeding the number of approved floors.

The state added that the building was thereafter sealed by the Lagos State Building Control Agency.

The government stated that, in a brazen act of defiance and impunity, the owners of the building, Messrs Lekki Worldwide Estate Limited, the promoters of Lekki Gardens, criminally unsealed the property and continued building beyond the approved floors until the tragic collapse that has claimed the lives of more than 30 people.

A state official told SaharaReporters that Governor Ambode was furious at the number of collapsed buildings in the state, adding that the governor was determined “to wield the big stick so as to put a stop to the disturbing trend.”

Labour unions in Nigeria’s oil sector, the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas (NUPENG) and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Seniour Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASAN), have called off their strike with immediate effect.

The unions had shut offices of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, nationwide following the announcement of its unbundling by minister of state for petroleum, Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu.

Kachikwu the Group Managing Director of NNPC, had explained that what the oil corporation did was “reorganization,” a restructuring that will see it split into five divisions.

He assured that he was going to meet the unions yesterday to forestall further action by the unions, which may lead to a more biting fuel scarcity across the country.

But the unions have now resolved to work with the NNPC as long as its workers were not affected in the unbundling.Kachikwu’s Technical Assistant on New Media, Ogechi Nnodim, confirmed the development to DAILY POST Thursday morning.“Please be informed that the unions have shelved their strike,” she said.

“They took the decision after a long meeting with the Minister.“The meeting ended just after 4:30am and had in attendance unions that had kicked against the unbundling.“We believe that with this development, the queues will end.”

Lekki Building Collapse: Death Toll Rises To 30

Lekki Building Collapse: Death Toll Rises To 30
“We have so far recovered 30 corpses and the number of those rescued alive still stands at 13,”Ibrahim Farinloye, from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), told AFP.

A total of 12 bodies were recovered since rescuers resumed work Wednesday morning, he added.

The fatal collapse happened after heavy rains in the early hours of Tuesday in the southeastern district of Lekki, which is home to some of the most expensive real estate in the city.

Lekki, made up of sprawling estates of gated communities of US-style suburban homes, has developed rapidly in recent years into a preferred location for wealthier Nigerians and expatriates.
Some detached houses can sell for millions of dollars.

Building collapses happen frequently in densely populated areas of Lagos, which is home to some 20 million people. Poor workmanship and materials, and a lack of official oversight are often blamed.
But collapses are rarer in wealthier districts.

The Lagos State government said in a statement that preliminary reports indicated work on the building was illegal but the order had been flouted.

–‘Brazen act of defiance’–
“The collapsed building was served (a) contravention notice for exceeding the approved floors”and was sealed by the Lagos State Building Control Agency, it added.
The owners of the building and promoters of the Lekki Gardens development, Lekki Worldwide Estate Limited,“criminally unsealed the property and continued building beyond the approved floors”.

The government called the owners’actions“a brazen act of defiance and impunity”and said“integrity tests”should be conducted on all projects being handled by the company.

All work has been ordered to stop at the site and the owners told to report to the police within 24 hours or face arrest, Lagos State information commissioner Steve Ayorinde said.

“The State Government will no longer tolerate the action(s) of unscrupulous owners and builders who challenge its supervisory control thereby endangering the lives of Lagosians,”he added.

“The State Government has consequently directed the suspension of work at the site and ordered the Lagos State Police Command to cordon it off as it is now a crime scene.”

Lekki Gardens confirmed in a statement that construction had stopped in January“over reported structural defects”but made no mention of work having resumed.

It added:“Investigation is already under way to ascertain the identities of those affected as it is not company policy for site workers to take shelter in uncompleted buildings.”

The addition of floors without proper planning approval was ruled to have been a factor in the collapse of a church guesthouse in Lagos in September 2014.

A total of 116 people were killed, 81 of them South Africans, in the collapse at the Synagogue Church of All Nations complex of popular evangelical preacher TB Joshua.
Joshua, church trustees and two engineers are currently on trial for criminal negligence and involuntary manslaughter.

Abacha Loot: Switzerland Ready To Release Another $321 Million Abacha Loot To Nigeria

Switzerland Ready To Release Another $321 Million Abacha Loot To Nigeria
Late General Sani Abacha
Nigeria and Switzerland on Tuesday in Abuja signed a letter of intent for the repatriation of illicit assets, including the 321 million dollars allegedly stashed in Swiss banks by late Gen. Sani Abacha.

Mr Abubakar Malami (SAN), the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, signed on behalf of Nigeria while the Swiss Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr Didier Burkhalter, signed for his home country.

A brief discussion between Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and Burkhalter preceded the event which took place at the vice president’s conference room with Swiss Ambassador Eric Mayoraz and his Chief of Staff, Damien Cottier in attendance as witnesses.

The Swiss minister told State House correspondents at the end of the ceremony that the event was a milestone in the effort to complete the return of the late Abacha’s illegally acquired funds stashed in his country.

Burkhalter said: “We are confident that we can work together in order tomake a new point and step in fighting corruption.

“The fight against corruption is a priority of our government and it is important to work together in order to restitute the money that has been stolen to the population.

“Switzerland and Nigeria have already written the history 10 years ago with the restitution of 700 milliondollars of the Abacha funds.

“Today, it is another amount of 321 million dollars that can be restituted.“We are at the end of the process butit is very important now to make everything right and above all to organise a monitoring mechanism by the World Bank for the use of these stolen assets.

“And then, there will be a restitution and it will be and can be swift, transparent and can be at the end forthe good of the population.”

According to Burkhalter, it is important to show a common will by Nigeria and Switzerland by the signing of this letter of intent to go that way and to move ahead.

He said that there was a legal requirement in the decision of the prosecutor in Switzerland to ensure judicious use of the money when repatriated.“There is the necessity of a monitoring mechanism by the World Bank and it is also necessary to have good projects in social way.

“For instance, there could be the initiative to save one million lives.“If we have this mechanism by the World Bank for monitoring and the good project to the good of the population, then the money will be restituted.”

Burkhalter said he was not aware of any other funds illegally kept in his country besides the Abacha loot.In his remarks, Malami said the essence of the signing was to communicate to the world and Nigerians.

Malami said, “The intendment arising from the signing of the letter of intent is to communicate to the world and the Nigerian state in this regard, that the intention is there andthe commitment is there and the fund is going to be repatriated as quickly and as soon as possible.”

On the significance of the event, Malami said it was to send a clear message to the people that the Buhari administration was working hard to recover all looted funds.“

The message is clear that this government is up and doing as far as the repatriation of looted funds wherever they are located, wherever they are situated in the globe is concerned.

“The government has the desired commitment, has the desired political will, has the desired cooperation and has put in place the desired road map for the recovery of the looted fund,” he added. (NAN)

We Have No Plan To Trade On Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) - MTN

We Have No Plan To Trade On Nigerian Stock Exchange-MTN
South African telecoms giant, MTN Group, says it has no plans to list its Nigerian unit on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Channels TV reports.

This is coming against the backdrop of expectations that MTN Nigeria would get listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE)  once it resolves the disputed 780 billion naira fine with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

In a statement issued by the telecom giant’s Corporate Affairs Executive, Chris Maroleng, the group described the reports as untrue.

Mr Maroleng further stated that the listing of MTN Nigeria remains a consideration and not a planned listing, as suggested in some of the media reports

Reports had suggested that the only thing stopping the group from listing in Nigeria was the 780 billion Naira penalty imposed on it for failing to comply with directives from the NCC to disconnect 5.1 million unregistered sim cards, and was planning to list as soon as the matter was resolved.

PM News reports that the tone for a major controversy may have been set with the allegation by lawmakers in Ekiti state, Nigeria that they have been promised the sum of $1 million to have the state governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, impeached.

The state House of Assembly was last week raided andfour members of the House reportedly arrested by men of the Department of State Service, DSS.

On Tuesday, members of the Assembly said there was a plot to coerce them into impeaching Fayose and that$1 million was being promised to members who are ready to be part of the impeachment plot.

The lawmakers did not specifically mention those behind the controversial plot, but hinted that those behind it are those that were defeated in elections in the state.

They vowed not to collaborate with anyone to truncate the government of Fayose, adding that, they were prepared to spend the rest of their tenure in DSS cell, instead of joining “people that they roundly defeated in five straight elections to cause another political instability in Ekiti State.”

Addressing the press on Tuesday, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Gboyega Aribisogan, disclosed that “in the last four days, eight of our members had been visited by some men, who claimed to be officials of the DSS.“

Our members were told that their names were among those to be arrested and they must ‘cooperate’ if they do not want their bank accounts frozen and be kept in DSS detention indefinitely.”

The lawmakers said the 2006 experience, in which Assembly members in Ekiti State were hounded in detention and made to sign the impeachment of Governor Fayose on the table of the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, willnever be repeated in the state.Aribisogan, who was with 13 other members of the House of Assembly said: “we are here to inform the public through your various medium the open involvement of men of the Department of State Service, DSS, from Abuja in the plot to unseat our state Governor, Mr. Peter Ayodele Fayose.“

The last Friday invasion of the State House of Assembly by armed men of the DSS in which four of our members were abducted, has been established to be a prelude to the clandestine plot to coerce members of the House of Assembly to impeach Governor Fayose.

“As at today, even Afolabi Akanni that we were able to confirm was with the DSS in Abuja is being held incommunicado. No one has been given access to him,not even his lawyers and doctors. We do not have any information as to the whereabouts of the other three.

“We are aware of the plot to arrest no fewer than 18 of our members with a view to forcing them to sign impeachment notice against Governor Fayose.“The plot is being hatched by the same elements who masterminded the impeachment of Governor Fayose in 2006, which was eventually declared illegal by the Supreme Court and they are boasting of support of the DSS and the Presidency.“

In the last four days, eight of our member had been visited by some men, who claimed to be officials of the DSS.“Our members were told that their names were among those to be arrested and they must ‘cooperate’ if they do not want their bank accounts frozen and be kept in DSS detention indefinitely.

“Also, our members were told that they will be provided with soft-landing in the APC if they cooperate. One of them revealed that they promised to make him the Speaker, and eventuallythe Acting Governor.

“We however wish to tell the plotters of evil against the government of Ayodele Fayose and by extension the people of Ekiti State that we, members of the State House of Assembly are not interested in their evil plot.

“These agents of destabilisation should be reminded of the 2006 episode, which was responsible for Ekiti State having six governors in three years!“Most importantly, Governor Fayose is our benefactor.

He is our leader on whose political strength we are members of the State House of Assembly. We can even be called his stooges, we don’t mind.

We will never do anything to jeopardise his interest and by extension, interests of Ekiti people.“We therefore wish to state unequivocally that we are not interested in any $1 million.

“We won’t, because of any blood money, join forces with enemies of our state, who are desirous of destabilising the state just because they lost power.”

"There is not impossibility anywhere"

Everything is possible, majority of the impediment that people claim to see is the one within, which can be largely be seen as the psychological belief or thought about the project that is about to be executed or visualised.

The word IMPOSSIBILE means "I'M POSSIBLE' to an optimist. But the pessimist sees same as IMPOSSIBLE.

To achieve anything in life, the idea or concept must be workable in the mind. For instance, no architect can design a house without firstly built it in his mind.

Pocket Your Money, Cristiano Ronaldo Is Not For Sale - Zidane

Cristiano Ronaldo Zidane
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane said he is not concerned with the jeers and whistles directed at Cristiano Ronaldo at the Bernabeu and added that he doesn’t agree with any fan opinions that his star striker should be sold off to another club.

The club host Roma for Champions League on Tuesday and the Serie A side are 2-0 down from the first leg of the round-of-16 clash, and Zidane welcomed both the positive and negative reactions from supporters.

“I don’t [think Ronaldo should be sold]. And I am the coach and I like Cristiano,” Zidane told a news conference on Monday. “The jeers, I also got them when I played, we all did. It is not about the player. It is about the fans demanding more from their players.

I think [the whistling] is the best thing for the players because it helps them improve.Zidane repeated the comments he made on Saturday after Ronaldo responded to whistles with a four-goal haul in Saturday’s 7-1 La Liga win at home to Celta Vigo.

Ronaldo now has 252 goals in just 228 La Liga games and overtook Athletic Bilbao legend Telmo Zarra to go second in the Spanish league’s all-time goal-scoring charts, although he remains some distance behind Lionel Messi’s 304.

The Portuguese also now heads the La Liga “Pichichi” and European Golden Boot races for this season with 27 goals.“In the end, the supporters love their players and that is what matters.

Because I continue to always see the stadium filled. That means a lot.“The fans are very important for us. And the fans know that they are important. When they don’t see the things they want they whistle a little.

That is part of football. I was a player and you can’t make a big deal over that.”The injured Karim Benzema will sit out Tuesday’s match and Zidane also opted not to include Borja Mayoral in his 19-man squad, which the club confirmed.

Toni Kroos, who practiced on Monday, was included. Benzema is expected to be out for the rest of March.“He has played three games with us and his intensity has been incredible,” said Zidane of Mayoral.

“He is oneof our Castilla players, but he is an important part of the group. He has the personality and the desire but wemust proceed with caution. I have told him that we must move little by little.”

Zidane added that he was taking no chances against Roma despite the lead.“[Roma] are a good team, but I am more concerned with my players. They all know this will be a tough match.

And the ones that will come after [we beat] Roma are also very good and very strong,” he said, adding that he was not concerned with the doubters. “I don’t care about that. Now, to win, we have to play well.If we don’t, they can eliminate us. We are going to prepare for this match as best we can.

“The only thing we have to do is win because of course we are dreaming of this, but our thoughts are only on tomorrow’s match,” said Zidane when asked whether he felt pressure to win Champions League given Real Madrid’s current situation in La Liga.

“Many people feelthat tomorrow’s match will be easy and that is not true. It will be a tough game. We have to play well and win well.“Afterward we will think about the weekend.

I am not thinking about whether this has been a good or a bad season. I just focus on the day to day. That is what gives me strength.”Asked about Brazil’s decision to leave Marcelo out of the Selecao for the match against Uruguay, Zidane said: “He is ready to play for us.

That is only thing I can say. That Brazil call him up or not — that is up to their coach.”He also added that Colombian James will need to compete for time on the field.“

The problem is not his. He is a committed player and he trains well. Then what we end up having to do is make changes and one or two players always must come out. For James at the end of the day what is the most important is that he leaves everything he has on the pitch.

And that is what he is doing. I am always going to ask more of him because he is so talented but so are the others. He is improving and showing that improvement.”

Asked whether Gareth Bale or Lucas Vazquez would prevail, Zidane said he was counting on both: “Whomever plays will have to do well. They will have tobe convincing on the field.

Tomorrow we shall see, but the idea is this: we must defend when we don’t have the ball and do damage when we have it. It will be complicated to put the team together but it is best that we have everyone at our disposal.”

Oil Recovers As It Is Now $40 Per Barrel, The Highest Since December

The oil price has hit $40 for the first time since December after extending gains that have seen it recover from a sharp downturn.

Hopes of an improving global outlook and stronger sentiment for a recovery in turbulent markets saw the price of a barrel of Brent crude rise to $40 on Monday, the highest level for nearly three months - before edging slightly lower again.

Brent crude had tumbled close to $27 in January, its lowest level since 2003, amid a glut in oil supply and slowing world demand as the global economy stuttered.

The fall left it more than three quarters off its peak at more than $115 in the summer of 2014 and was accompanied by a turbulent period in stock markets.

Low oil prices have helped consumers by driving down the cost of petrol.

But energy companies and the suppliers and contractors they work with have been badly affected with thousands of jobs axed globally, including many in the North Sea.Oil has turned higher more recently and was up again in latest trading, partly drivenby a rally in Asian markets.

The crude price improvement was also helped by US energy firms cutting back thenumber of oil rigs in operation. However some analysts warned that the glut of oil could continue to drag on the price.

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose Bars Olukere Of Ikere-Ekiti From Wearing Crown, Calls Him 'Tout'

Ekiti State Governor
Governor Ayodele Fayose
The Obaship crisis rocking Ikere Ekiti, last weekend, assumed a new twist
as the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose ordered the Olukere of Ikere, Oba Ganiyu Obasoyin, to stop wearing crown or any other related traditional ruler’s apparel.

Equally, contrary to insinuation that Ogoga allegedly induced Fayose with a sum of N20 million to ensure that he became an Oba in the town, Oba
Adu denied the accusation, saying it was being spread by his detractors to taint his personality.

Fayose described Olukere as an impersonator, reiterating that the only recognised monarch in the town is Ogoga, Oba Adejimi Adu, describing Olukere as a chief priest, who should stop parading himself as a king, having not gotten staff of office, a symbol of recognition from the government.

Speaking in Ado Ekiti last weekend when Ogoga paid him a courtesy call at his office in Ado Ekiti, Fayose insisted that all existing laws, documents and official gazettes in the state, starting from the old Western Region, only recognised the Ogoga as the authentic traditional ruler of Ikere Ekiti.

He said: “For me, the issues in Ikere, about the obaship tussle is very clear,
I’m not saying this because you are here or your chiefs are here.

There are no two Obas in Ikere, there is only one Oba and the Oba is Ogoga. I only
recognised the Ogoga of Ikere. “Olukere has been trying to be a Judge in his own matter.

In a civilised society, if not that we are trying to be civil and allow peace to reign, we
would have been in court now because that is anarchy.

“You don’t have certificate, no staff of office. I’m not against the agitation. I told our father, Chief Bamidele Olomilua that we don’t give him that status. However, because some towns have gotten their independence, it is not by this backdoor rascality or 419 arrangement. If they have agitation, let them follow it, present it to the whole world.

“Above all, if you want to be an Oba and you are abusing the man who can give you staff of office. You are abusing the man who can give you certificate of recognition, I cannot give a man who is disparaging the governor of his own state for recognition, not in Ekiti State “.

He added: “I don’t know why you get to the level of going to the streets to
destroy your community. That is most unwarranted, unnecessary and
irresponsible.

You will go to the newspapers and be insulting your governor because you want to be a king, what type of Oba are you? There is no Oba in this state behaving like
this. I have asked Chief Olumilua to call him to order.

“That nonsense must stop. You cannot come here dress like an Oba or go to the state Assembly and dress like an Oba. And these media people are backing him. How can you be referring to an ordinary Chief as an Oba?

The monarch, which monarch? “Did you give him the staff of office? Where did you get your monarch? The journalists should be charged to court. They should charge the press to court, which is sheer misappropriation.

You should stop all these nonsense and stop causing problems in the state. If Olukere believes he wants to be Oba, let him follow due process. With the way they have started, I think it is an uphill task.

“Above all, I want Kabiyesi to love everybody, accommodate everybody, even this man behaving like a tout”, he concluded.

Fayose: I can’t be intimidated by one million Buhari’s DSS, says; “DSS going beyond its constitutional duties”

Governor Ayodele Fayose
EKITI State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has declared that even if the State was invaded by one million armed men of the Department of State Service (DSS) on the order of President Mohammadu Buhari, the government and the people of the State will never be intimidated to surrender governance of the State to political desperadoes, whose four years reign destroyed the economy of the State.

The governor, who said the DSS under President Buhari was operating beyond its constitutional mandate, added that “the government of Ekiti State may have to reconsider the usefulness of men of the DSS in the government house and other institutions of the State government.”

In a release issued on Sunday and signed by the Special Assistant to the governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government was pursuing a clandestine agenda of truncating democracy in Ekiti State and other Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) controlled States like Rivers and Bayelsa.

He said; “If Buhari likes, let him relocate all DSS men in Nigeria with the entire ammunitions in their armoury to Ekiti, the will of Ekiti people can never be broken. They will only try, and like they have always done, they will fail because dictatorship has never triumphed over the people. Even Buhari’s dictatorship between 1984 and 1985 ended one day and Nigerians will also outlive his present dictatorship.”

The governor said the DSS under Buhari’s kinsman; Lawal Daura has abandoned its core mandate of providing intelligence for the protection of the internal security of Nigeria as provided in the Security Agencies Act Cap. N74 LFN, 2004 adding that; “Instead of assisting the Police, Military and other security agencies with classified matters, we now have a DSS that is running after perceived opponents of the president, arresting goat and fowl thieves as well as husbands who assaulted their wives.

“If the DSS was alive to its responsibilities, we won’t be having Boko Haram insurgents killing Nigerians, all these kidnappings and Fulani Herdsmen killings, raping and destroying farmlands in the South-West, South-East and North-Central zones in the country would have been nipped in the bud.”

He said the same way President Buhari used the National Security Organisation (NSO), headed by Ambassador Mohammed Lawal Rafindadi from Katsina State is the same way the President is using the DSS, headed by another of his kinsman, Lawal Daura to harass, oppress and intimidate Nigerians.

Governor Fayose said; “it is obvious that democracy in Nigeria is becoming unsafe in the hands of Buhari and his APC and those keeping silent now because of politics may also end up in the belly of this roaring lion that is threatening to consume our democracy.

“Therefore, Nigerians and the international community should take special notice of the use of the DSS and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to muscle opposition.

“As for me, I wish to say once again that I am not among those Nigerians that are afraid of harassment by any agency of the federal government.

“I make bold to state that in the overall interest of democracy and well-being of Nigerians, I will continue to speak my mind on issues bordering on governance in Nigeria. I will not be intimidated!”
