US Woman found guilty of killing six family members on Christmas Eve 2007

A woman is facing life in prison after beingconvicted of killing six members of her family on Christmas Eve 2007 at a family get-together.

Michele Anderson was found guilty of six counts of first-degree aggravated murder after a five-week trial at King County Superior Court in Washington State.

The 37-year-old gunned down three generations of her family in Carnation, a city 30 miles east of Seattle.King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg had initially argued the death penalty should be imposed on Anderson, but changed his mind last July.

Instead, she is facing the prospect of spending the rest of her life behind bars without the possibility of parole. In closing arguments last week, King County senior deputy prosecutor Scott O'Toole said Anderson was the mastermind behind the killings.

He told the jury in opening statements that her victims were shot a combined 14 times. The motive was said to be money.Anderson's lawyer, Colleen O'Connor, argued the deaths were not premeditated and that Anderson should be convicted of second-degree murder at most.

Anderson did not give evidence and the defence team rested its case without calling any witnesses. Her ex-boyfriend Joseph McEnroe is currently serving six life sentences after hewas found guilty a year ago of the same killings.

McEnroe avoided the death penalty after jurors were unable to reach a unanimous decision on whether he should be sentenced to death.Authorities say McEnroe and Anderson first shot her parents, Wayne and Judy Anderson, and dragged their bodies from the house to a garden shed.

The pair then shot Anderson's brother, Scott, his wife, Erica, and their two children, five-year-old Olivia and three-year-old Nathan, when they arrived for dinner.
