Mourinho’s first statement since Chelsea sacking [FULL Text]

Jose Mourinho has released his first statement
following his dismissal as Chelsea manager on
Thursday, indicating that he will remain living in London and is not “tired” or looking for a break from football.

In the statement, released in conjunction with the CAA agency based in Los Angeles, Mourinho indicated that he is looking forward to returning to work and drew parallels with the success he enjoyed after leaving Chelsea in 2007.

Read the statement in full below:

“Jose Mourinho is pleased that he returned to Chelsea football club because he was able to give the fans another Premier League title, which they had not won for many years.

He is immensely proud of his eight trophies at Chelsea, and thanks the fans for all their
support throughout his two spells at the club.

“During his career, Jose has sometimes chosen to
leave a club, but only at Chelsea has the club decided that he should leave.

“Each time represents for him the end of a cycle, and the opportunity to start a new one. José hopes that his future after Chelsea this time will be as successful as when he left the club in 2007.

“He will not be taking a sabbatical, he isn’t tired, he doesn’t need it, he is very positive, and is already looking forward.

“Because of his love of football, you will see José at football grounds working and supporting friends.

He will not be attending any high-profile games because he wants to discourage any speculation about his future.

“Jose will remain living in London and hopes he and his family will be given the opportunity to do this privately.

“Jose will not speak about his current situation for the foreseeable future. He asks the media to respect this decision.”

Kogi: APC may sanction Faleke as he petitions Police, DSS over threat to life

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) might have resolved at the weekend to set up a disciplinary committee to look into the recalcitrant position of Hon. James Faleke, running mate to the late governorship candidate of the party in Kogi State, Alhaji Abubakar Audu, against the stand of the party on the state’s election.

This is as Faleke has said his resolve to claim back his mandate as governor-elect was further energised after the continuous threat his life by some politicians, stating that he had reported the threats to the police and other security agencies though he was undeterred.

A national officer of the APC, who hinted at the
development and pleaded anonymity, said the party was pondering a five-man committee to query Faleke on why he decided to trample on party supremacy and embarrass it by “making a deliberate mess of the Kogi situation, despite all entreaties in collective interest”.

Faleke had in the heat of the constitutional crisis
occasioned by the death of Audu, insisted that he
should be declared winner of the governorship election and in furtherance of his case, approached the courts for an intervention, which however is against the stand of the party.

But the APC, following the constitutional impasse created by Audu’s death, had nominated Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the first runner up at the party’s primaries as its replacement for the December 5 supplementary election, which he (Bello) went on to win.

But Faleke has not given up on his position, insisting Bello could not inherit the votes he and his late principal-to-be worked for.

Against this backdrop, the APC, it was gathered, had come up with a decision to make Faleke face a disciplinary committee as a way for the party to start asserting itself.

The source said Faleke, by his disposition, greatly embarrassed the party and could not get away with it because he would have set a bad
precedent.

“His own nomination as running mate to Audu also created problems for the party because of how he came into the picture but the APC through its supremacy was able to prevail on other tendencies to let him have a smooth run.

It is therefore a sign of sheer ingratitude to the party leadership for someone like him who has
benefited from the magnanimity of the party leadership to seek to embarrass it”, the source said.

“The phrase ‘party supremacy’ is not going to exist only in the books; the time has come for us to put it to work.

“The unfortunate thing is that people, who had
benefited immensely from the party at different
capacities, are the ones wont to turn up such appalling attitude or disrespect the authorities.

But that would have to stop. “We understand his right but constitutionally, that stops at the level of running mate for now.

He cannot force anything and the party would not be blackmailed to submission, either in person or by proxy and that is why such disappointing and embarrassing insubordination would not be condoned.

Those would be the issues the disciplinary committee would address when they eventually deploy to work,” the national officer of the
party said.

It is worthy of note that the chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, had recently said Faleke was not indispensable, adding that the party would replace him, if he held on to his guns on the governorship seat.

“On the Faleke issue, it is rather a straightforward and easy issue; we have replaced a governorship candidate.

If the need arises and subject to what the law says, we will also get a deputy governorship
candidate but we will cross those bridges as they arise but they have not arisen yet.

As a political party, we simply understand the frustration that emanated from the death of Abubakar Audu.

However, it is normal for us to accommodate the immediate reactions coming from the people involved.

“Wielding the big stick in a situation like this might not be appropriate but there will be a time-line to it.

Enough will be enough at a certain time…In the next few weeks depending on who goes to court or who doesn’t, we will know the boundaries of the law in respect of these issues.

“As at now, we are very glad with the results that we have got and I’m very sure they would be upheld virtually in every tribunal whatsoever because we have adopted simple commonsense solution legally defensible.

We cross every bridge as we get to it; we’ll wait and see who does what and work out answers that meet each situation.

“We have thought the process through and we have won the election in Kogi. Those who feel aggrieved, it is for them to call to question whatever they feel aggrieved about and we are going to meet them on those grounds. For us in APC, Kogi is a settled issue; if you want to go to the tribunal, we’ll meet you there.

If you want to go to court, we’ll meet you there,” he said.

According to Faleke’s petition, “It has become
necessary to bring this to the public knowledge over the continous threat to my life due to my stand not to compromise #Audu/Faleke mandate for anything.

“I have to make this threat to my life public because of the loud silence from the security agencies even after sending petition to them.”

‘I have sent petition to the IG of Police and DG, DSS on the continuous threat to my life but no response till now’

“The Lord is my shield & protector, he alone gives me courage and strength, I fear no one but Him.

No weapon formed against me shall prosper”

“No amount of intimidation and threat will make me give up the fight for justice and the legal struggle to reclaim Audu/Faleke mandate. I will ensure that happen”, he added.

PoliFocus Quote Of The Day, 19th of December, 2015

"Except God builds a house, the builder builds in vain"

The statement is coined from the Holy Bible. It is a valid statement because every that happens to a man must have been approved by God.

Though this might be like a myth to a 'Realist' but 'Idealist' share same thought.

The spiritual controls the physical. But that doesn't implies that one will just fold his or her arms waiting for manna.

Manna doesn't fall any longer. But the point is that, before one embarks on anything, one must put it before God in prayer.

HE knows the end from the beginning. That is why HE is called the Alpha and Omega.

When God is working, all the earthly principles will be suspended.

Without HIM nothing can be achieved, if you are running without God's approval, I'm afraid to tell you, the race may end up as 'rat race'.

Put God first in everything you and you see yourself prospering.

Happy weekend to you all.

Mourinho Wants Man Utd Job After Chelsea's Inglorious Exit

Jose Mourinho wants Manchester United to be his next job, sources close to the Portuguese manager have told. ESPN, and representatives have already taken initial steps to try and make it happen.

The 52-year-old has reportedly long coveted the Old Trafford role, and his dismissal by Chelsea on Thursday could finally open the way, especially with the problems current United boss Louis van Gaal is suffering.

Sources have said it is no longer so certain Van Gaal will see out the final year of his contract in 2016-17, and though much depends on performance in the remainder of this season, United have already begun pursuing Pep Guardiola as the Dutchman’s successor.

With Manchester City believed to be leading the race for the Catalan, however, his old rival Mourinho would represent an ideal alternative for United in terms of profile — if not managerial approach.

The prospect of Mourinho taking over at Old Trafford has long caused intense debate among the club hierarchy.

The Portuguese is known to have wanted the
job when Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 and, while some key officials favoured hiring him then, others felt the controversy he brings and football style just didn’t fit with United.

Sir Bobby Charlton went on record as saying “a United manager wouldn’t do” the kind of acts that have got Mourinho in trouble in the past.

At the same time, there is growing concern over results under Van Gaal — especially the Champions League elimination at Wolfsburg — as well as the lack of progress or sense of evolution.

Sources say the United hierarchy are also hugely conscious of criticism that, in the two-plus years since Ferguson retired, they have missed out on three of the most sought-after managers in the world: Guardiola, Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp.

Mourinho’s availability in the summer could well offer the opportunity to end that criticism.

United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward also has a very strong relationship with the Portuguese’s agent Jorge Mendes, and that would facilitate any move.

Sources have told ESPN that Mourinho has already received concrete offers for next season, and that Mendes has begun sounding out options.

Regarding his failure at Chelsea, those close to
Mourinho say he grew hugely frustrated with the club’s transfer structure, feeling that made it impossible to succeed at Stamford Bridge.

Pisces and Independence:

Pisces needs a dominant partner of role model in their life or they will very easily fall into a pit of self-pity and self-undoing.

When they are independent and inspired by life's events, their creativity comes shining through but they are unable to be on their own for long before they start dreaming in their imaginary world of happy people and happy endings.
They need other people to keep them grounded and on the right track.

Pisces and Friendship:

Pisces will go out of their way to help a friend. They are extremely sensitive and loyal. They will take a friend's problem and make it their own and suffer with them.

This is the weak spot of Pisces but any friend of this zodiac sign should know that although they are attracted to people with severe problems who desperately need help, this actually does more harm them good.

Even though Pisces will offer to make everything right, do not allow them to take on all your problems because they will lose their identity in your situation.

They need a strong positive friend to make them
strong. Pisces like adventure, new situation and social events.

A Pisces friend will always have something exciting in mind and it is a very fulfilling, long lasting friendship.

Pisces and Business:

Pisces does not take well to a position of leadership or high business person, they are too sensitive and lacking in self-discipline and lacking self-confidence for a positions such
as that.

What they are good at is is writing, acting, poetry, or being musicians. Pisces are excellent at anything that tugs at the heart strings and mystical/spiritual.

They are extremely creative and can use their skills of creativity and their understanding of people to inspire others.

Unfortunately, most Pisces take the easy way out in life and never attain the degree of fame that they possibly could, they have to stop self-doubting themselves because they are capable of being good role models and leaders to others, people do look up to them.

Pisces and Temperament:

The Pisces personality is hard to pin down, it is very mysterious and elusive. Pisces are molded by their surroundings, they incorporate their experiences and surroundings into themselves.

They have extreme compassion and they feel the pain of others. If something is wrong in the world that affects them, it affects them deeply,
they take it to heart and feel extreme feelings regarding the matter.

When they are happy, they are extremely happy and when they are sad, they are extremely depressed.

Pisces Deep Inside:

Pisces have an intuitive and psychic ability more then any other zodiac signs. They trust their gut feelings and if they do not, they quickly learn to because they realize that their hunches are usually correct.

Pisces downfall is their sensitivity and their inability to reject another person. They do not like rejection and they try to treat others the way they want to be treated so they will rarely say no to a person for fear of hurting their feelings.

They will help another person with their problems and like to do so because making others feel good in turn makes them feel good.

Pisces is the zodiac sign of self-undoing. People born under this zodiac sign are not susceptible to bad luck and unfortunate events, they bring them on themselves by overindulging, laziness
and a knack for picking poorly suited partners and friends.

They want people in their life who stir their emotions because this helps them to practice emotional stability.

The inner conflict of Pisces is extremes of temperament and conflicting emotions.

They are trying to pinpoint themselves on the real world while their spiritual world can cloud their vision, they will try to escape or avoid a situation instead of confronting it.

Pisces eternal struggle is to learn to use their
powers and their imagination in a positive, productive way and vying for emotional stability by not giving away their emotions to everyone else, they need to help themselves.

Pisces in a Nutshell:

Pisces is the sign of mysticism, mystery and the spiritual unknown. Pisces live in two worlds, the real world and the spiritual or mystical world where they interpret what they see into what they want.

They do this to avoid all the realities of pain and suffering in the world. They have extremes of emotions and feel both good and bad intensively.

Pisces have formidable intuitive ability. Most
Pisces are somehow involved with occult or spiritualism.

Pisces are very good at understanding people for they have the ability to delve into the psyche and see behind a person's motivations.

Pisces are prone to drug addiction and indulging lifestyles because of their eternal search for themselves and their fear of confrontation and having to change a situation, also they justify drug use by allowing it to get closer with their 'spiritual selves'.

Once they aware this is why they are doing it, it will be easier to kick the habit.

Pisces are not the pushovers that they may seem, in fact they have strength of character and will stand up for what they believe in and and they can do hard work for something they believe in.

They can be very lazy but only in matters that they do not care about. Pisces is the most
sensitive of all zodiac signs.

What it's Like to Date a Pisces Woman:

Pisces women are very captivating and fascinating. She makes a man feel like a man because of her need for a protector and leader.

She is charming, soft and feminine. The ultimate enchantress.

She can see right through a man and she is not easy to fool, so any man better be straight with her and not lead her on, because instead of confronting him, she will simply disappear.

She needs to nurture and will give the man orders, but only for his own good. She will
make sure he is eating properly and getting enough sleep, sort of like a mother nurturing a child.

What she needs in return is a man to protect and cherish her, make her feel like she is needed and loved. She might almost be clingy and dependent but never overbearingly.

Her partner will become of better half. She needs patience and sympathy and you have to be gentle with her. Don't poke fun or tease and definitely do not reject her harshly because she can't stand rejection.

She is extremely romantic and will lose herself in the relationship.

The Pisces woman is the ultra feminine nurturer, the ideal woman for the right man.

What it's Like to Date a Pisces Man:

Pisces man is is the ultimate romantic, the sensitive man who feels with a woman. Pisces male is the ideal zodiac sign for the woman who complains that men are not sensitive enough, this man is.

However, he has such an ideal of romance that is unrealistic and will fall out of love when he realizes that there is no such thing as the perfect
woman.

This man lives in the world of dreams and he needs a woman to keep him grounded. He always seems to chose the wrong woman, or a woman he can't have like a married woman that way there is no worry about becoming emotionally attached.

He needs a woman who can dominate him, but very subtly. She has to be able to help him steer
clear of bad habits and bad thoughts.

Pisces man needs sensitivity, generosity and compassion, nurture him and he will nurture you back.

A fulfilling emotional relationship for the strong yet sensitive woman.

How to Attract Pisces:

Talk about spirituality, the occult, astrology, anything that is out of reach of the real world.

They will easily get lost in a good conversation.

Although they are attracted to people with severe problems who desperately need help, this
actually does more harm them good.

Even though Pisces will offer to make everything right, do not allow them to take on all your problems because they will lose their identity in
your situation.

They need a strong positive partner to make
them strong. Pisces like adventure, new situation and social events and will be up to doing almost anything that you suggest.

Make them laugh, they are usually melancholy and will be impressed if someone has the ability to make them laugh.

They are not very conservative people so do not be afraid to talk about unconventional or strange things and tell them odd jokes, they will be impressed by that.

They are suckers for flattery give them compliments and tell them in a roundabout way that you admire them.

Be sensitive, generous and gentle, make them feel comfortable with you and make them feel good about themselves and all will be smooth sailing!

Pisces Erogenous Zone:

The feet are the most sensitive spot for Pisces.

Massaging the feet and sucking on toes are usually Pisces favorite and will get them steamed up and ready for action.

Sex With Pisces:

Sex with Pisces is an emotional and physical experience, and if you allow it, it will be a spiritual experience as well.

Pisces are very good at, and love role play. Acting fully in their roles. They like to seduce.

Role play that you are in an old fashioned brothel and get them to seduce you, they love
erotic games for they are able to get completely involved and lose themselves in the erotic play.

Pisces likes risqué encounters and offbeat activities. A very fun partner for those who like different encounters and physical sex.

Drogba Please Come And Rescue Sinking Chelsea - Abramovich

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has summoned Blues legend Didier Drogba back to Stamford Bridge hours after having pulled the plug on José Mourinho, Jeune Afrique revealed on Friday.

The Impact Montreal striker, who is on his off-season break, was in Abidjan when he received the phone call from the Russian oligarch.

“He is happy to be able to return to Chelsea,” a close source told Jeune Afrique.

“It is the club of his heart, even if he had felt betrayed by José Mourinho, who didn’t honour all his commitments to him when he came back for the 2014-2015 season.”

Chelsea, who are about to appoint former coach Guus Hiddink as caretaker until the end of the season, could entrust the Côte d’Ivoire international with a specific mission that is yet to be known.

The 37-year-old played for the Blues from 2004 to 2012 and during the 2014-15 successful campaign, winning more than ten major trophies including the prestigious UEFA Champions League in 2012.

Why I Want Fuel Subsidy Removed - Bola Tinubu

The National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has called on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to
remove the contentious fuel subsidy as a matter of urgency.

He said this at the 10 th year anniversary seminar for revered late historian, Dr. Bala Usman in Kaduna on Friday.

At the event where he was a guest speaker, Tinubu said that fuel subsidy was the major cause of the incessant fuel scarcity in the country, hence the need to do away with it.

This comes against the backdrop of an announcement by the Federal Government through the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, that the government will not be removing fuel subsidy but would seek other alternatives to finance the oil industry.

However, the former Governor of Lagos State stated that the contentious fuel subsidy favoured only the privileged few, why the poor daily languish in need and could hardly  make ends meet.

According to him, the gargantuan amount being spent on keeping the subsidy regime could be better utilised in resuscitating our ailing refineries, revamping our comatose rail system and provide other useful amenities for both the privileged and the down-trodden.

Hiddink in Chelsea manager talks after Mourinho’s exit

Guus Hiddink has confirmed he is in talks with Chelsea following the departure of manager Jose Mourinho, although he has some reservations about taking over on an interim basis for a second time.

Mourinho parted company with the Premier League champions on Thursday after they suffered their ninth top-flight defeat of the season at Leicester.

Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Juande Ramos had been linked with the vacant post, but Hiddink arrived in London on Friday to open discussions with Chelsea.

Hiddink was previously appointed at Stamford Bridge in February of 2009 following the departure of Luiz Felipe Scolari, when he led them to FA Cup glory.

The ex-Netherlands coach said in De Telegraaf:

“I want to get some good insight before I make my decision.
“I want as much information as possible.

Chelsea are in a bad situation and there are reasons for that.

“I want to gain some good insights on that before I make my decision.

“Whether or not I’m visiting their next match depends on my first conversation.

Then I’ll decide if I should stay in London longer.

Chelsea have earned just 15 points from their first 16 league games and are in 16th place in the table, a point above the relegation zone.

Appeal Court nullifies Akwa Ibom Gov. Emmanuel’s election, Orders Fresh Poll

The Appeal Court has nullified the entire governorship election held in Akwa Ibom State on 11 April, purportedly won by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Governor Udom Emmanuel.

The decision was handed over this afternoon in the cross appeal filed by the candidate of the All
Progressives Congress, Umana Okon Umana and the appeal by Emmanuel.

The Governorship election tribunal had initially
cancelled the election in 18 of the councils in the stateand called for a rerun. But the APC felt dissatisfied and filed an appeal, praying for the cancellation of the entire poll.

Emmanuel also felt his election ought to have been upheld and filed several grounds of appeal,
including challenging the validity of the candidacy of his APC rival.

Ruling on each issue one by one today, the Appeal Court panel of five justices, first dismissed the interlocutory appeal of PDP challenging the nomination of Umana as the candidate of APC in the Akwa Ibom
governorship contest.

The court held that Umana was validly nominated. The court also upheld nullification of election in 18 Akwa Ibom LGAs by Tribunal, in consonance with the judgement of the Governorship election Tribunal on 21 October.

I committed no crime in kneeling before God in church – Ooni of Ife replies critics (See The Pix)

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (OjajaII) has replied those attacking him for kneeling in church to worship God.

The monarch said “no King on Earth is above God”. He was responding to the negative comments, which trailed a picture showing him kneeling down during the installation thanksgiving held at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Ile Ife, on Sunday.

The picture, which had gone viral on internet, attracted diverse comments.

While many saw no wrong in the action of the newly installed monarch, some were of the view that the act desecrated the revered stool of Ooni.

But in a statement signed by the Director of
Communication and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, Ile-Ife, Moses Olafare, the Ooni said it was an unacceptable sacrilege to equate Ooni’risa or any other king to the Almighty God.

His words: “God is the creator of mankind and it is God that makes it possible for the enthronement of any king.

“The ILE OODUA has been drawn to a publication released Wednesday 16th 2015 by an online medium known as NEWSPUNCH in which His Imperial Majesty, Ooni’risa & Arole Oodua Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (OjajaII) was criticized for bowing to God.

“God remains the highest KING OF KINGS who has kept all Kings alive and had made it possible for me to be crowned as the King of the source of Yoruba civilisation.

“I have no regret whatsoever for kneeling down to exalt the almighty God who did not only create me but also kept me alive, saw me through all the storms in my life-journey and eventually crowned me as the Custodian of
Oodua Race.

“This act of equating me to God of gods, King of Kings and the sole owner of the universe is a wicked sacrilege planned to embarrass the throne.

“My emergence as Oba has been made possible only by the almighty Olodumare to whom I remain eternally grateful”, the Ooni said.

A Call For Sanctity In The Social Media Space

I write to display my anger on the way some people are abusing the social media in Nigeria.

It is not by force to break news, it is better to remain silence than to post rubbish.

Even if a mad man refuses to talk, he may be regarded as a sane fellow.

"Abeg, no be by force to break news"

In resent hours we have received different stupid news that went viral, should I talk of the Shi'ites saga of the leader losing his life, wife and Son to the crisis or Alison Madueke death rumour?

I don't know where and why this people cook up these stories, is it to incite the people, create tension in the polity or what?

People should be mindful of the things they post online, so that we don't lose our credibility in the global community of States.

If conventional media should have rules guiding them, social media shouldn't be an exception.

Off to bed my people,
Good night and have a wonderful rest.

Biafra: Family thanks Buhari, Nigerians over Kanu’s release

IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu
Mr Israel Kanu, the father of the pro-Biafra activist, Nnamdi Kanu, has thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and other Nigerians over the release of his son.

The elder Kanu is the traditional ruler of Afara Ukwu Ibeku Autonomous Community, Umuahia.

He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Umuahia that he was grateful to “well-meaning Nigerians for their prayers and support’’ during Nnamdi’s incarceration.

He added that he was amazed by the goodwill and show of solidarity by Nigerians, especially the pro-Biafra groups, which, he said, “stood by us for the period my son was detained.’’

He said that he was particularly grateful to God that the court acquitted his son of all the charges, including treasonable felony, brought against him.

“My family and the entire people of Afara Ukwu are happy over the release of our son and we shall continue to thank God and Nigerians for this happy event,’’ Kanu said.

The traditional ruler commended the judiciary for proving to be the hope of the common man, saying, “the judiciary applied wisdom in discharging and acquitting my son.’

He called on the pro-Biafra groups to go about their agitation peacefully and without confrontation to the government.

In a related development, Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) also hailed the president ‘for listening to the pleas of Ndigbo and progressive Nigerians.’

In a statement made available to NAN, OYC said that Kanu’s release had doused the tension generated by his detention, adding that the development had spared Nigeria of another security challenge.

The statement was signed by the National President and Secretary of the organisation, Okechukwu Isiguzoro and Nnabuike Okwu respectively.

It said that Kanu’s release would go a long way to restore the confidence of Ndigbo in Buhari’s
Administration.

“Having released Kanu, the Federal Government should go further and address all the other grievances of the pro-Biafra agitators,’’ the statement said.

According to OYC, the agitators were only protesting against the marginalisation and injustices being meted against Ndigbo.

It cited the poor state of federal roads in the South-East, abandonment of the Enugu coal mine for over 43 years, non-inclusion of Abia and Imo youths in the Niger Delta Amnesty deal, among others as instances of marginalization of Ndigbo.

On his part, the Secretary of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Mr Uchenna Madu, described the release of its leader as ‘triumph over injustice, suppression, oppression and subjugation of IPOB.’

NAN reports that the IPOB leader was arrested and detained for allegedly running Radio Biafra, an offence considered treasonable.

Dokpesi calls for prison reforms after Kuje experience

Founder of DAAR Communications Plc, Chief Raymond Dokpesi has called for a national prison reform.

Dokpesi made this call at the AIT Christmas party after his release from Kuje prison where he was remanded until he met the bail conditions set for him by Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Describing the state of Nigerian prisons as appalling, the media mogul charged the management of his television station to make prison reform a burning issue.

The chieftain of the People Democratic Party, PDP, was on December 9 arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, before the high court on a six-count charge of money laundering and fraud-related procurement.

Dokpesi, who was arraigned alongside his firm, DAAR Investment and Holdings Ltd, pleaded not guilty to all the six counts.

After taking his plea, Justice Gabriel Kolawole ordered that Dokpesi be remanded in EFCC custody pending the hearing of his bail application by 12.30pm on Thursday.

This was as he fixed trial on the matter for
February 17, 18 and March 2 and 3.

The prosecution led by Mr. Rotimi Jacobs SAN, had accused the defendants of receiving N2.1bn from the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, between October 2014 and March 19, 2015 for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP presidential media campaign in breach of provisions of the Public Procurement Act,
Money laundering Act and the EFCC Act.

Kachikwu Makes U-turn On N97, Says The Focus Will Be On Price Modulation, Not Subsidy Removal

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu says the Federal Government would focus on price modulation of petroleum products to ensure efficiency and provision of the products.

Kachikwu said this while addressing newsmen on Thursday in Abuja.

He said the price modulation had nothing to do with the removal or existence of subsidy.

“There is too much emotion around subsidy issue, but our focus is that the Federal Government should not spend as much as it spends every year on subsidy.

“First, it is an issue of irresponsibility; this year we have spent about one trillion and given the state of the finances, we have to save money from every means.

“What I am trying to do is to make sure that whatever we do, the poor people will not be affected.

So whatever we are going to do will be intellectual,’’ he said.

On the way forward, the minister said that the NNPC would review the template of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) and achieve reduction in the cost for clearing goods.

According to him, foreign exchange provisions will be looked into, to ensure stability in the system.

He added that efforts were being made to ensure more allocation to the oil industry to ensure certainty in the system.

He said that Nigeria consumed below 40 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) per day, adding that a reduction in smuggled products would put the level of consumption between 35 and 36 million per day.

“If we take this analysis, we can deliver products today with the price of oil where it is and also sell close to the prices we have today.

“It is not that we have removed subsidy but the
application of market forces will enable you to sell products as close to the prices we have today.

“Is it going to be between N87 and N90; we will have to get PPPRA to do those templates and at 35 million(litres) we may sell products at N87; by the time we consume 36, we may be selling at N90 or N91,’’ he said.

He said a band had been approved between N87 and N97 to look at price modulation, adding that it would look at price at every given time of crude.

The minister said that the price would no longer be fixed, noting that the price of crude would continue to determine what the price of product would be.

Kachikwu said that the report that pump price would go back to N97 in 2016 was not true, adding that a band of N87 and N97might be adopted, “ Today the prices are largely close to N87; there might be no need to change the price by January, and it might go up or come down slightly by April.

“It is all the dynamics of what the crude is; so, I have not put a static figure, myself and PPPRA will sit down and do the calculations and be able to announce what price PMS will sell in January,’’ he said.

The Minister added that there was no anticipation of any major shift in regards to the price of crude.

On the state of the refinery, he said that as at October, the four refineries performed at zero level but noted that in a few days, the Port Harcourt and Kaduna refineries might be able to bring up some production.

He said that the refineries would not be relied on until the state of their maintenance was completed, adding that Federal Government had agreed that it would not sell them at their present state.

“We are going to try and repair them; we are going to find external funding to be able to repair them, and my preference is to find somebody who is a technical partner to invest,’’ he said.

He expressed hope that two of the nation’s refineries would be at the level of completion in 2016, adding that if Port Harcourt reached 60 per cent completion, it would produce an average of five million barrels.

He blamed fall in global oil price, poor contracting, lack of efficiency, funding and even focus to losses in production in the year.

Commenting on the Petroleum Industry Bill, he said it would be split into segments to enable passage by the National Assembly.

He said that the two segments were fiscal and non fiscal segment, adding that a draft on the non fiscal had been received.

Breaking: Jose Mourinho Sacked As Chelsea Manager

Chelsea have sacked Jose Mourinho just months after he led them to the Premier League title.

The West London club said in an official statement they had parted company by "mutual consent" after a poor start to the season left the Blues just one point above the relegation zone.
Sky sources understand the Blues already have someone lined up to replace Mourinho by this weekend, when Chelsea are due to take on Sunderland.

In the statement confirming the news, Chelsea thanked Mourinho for his "immense contribution", noting he was the most successful manager in the club's history.

But the club said: "Both Jose and the board agreed results have not been good enough this season and believe it is in the best interests of both parties to go our separate ways."

The club said the focus was now on "ensuring our talented squad reaches its potential", and added no further comment would be made until a successor is found.

Sky sources understand Mourinho was called to the club's training ground and sacked at 2pm by club chairman Bruce Buck and director Eugene Tenenbaum.

Mourinho has now left the club's base in Cobham, Surrey, the sources say.

The Blues have lost nine out of their 16 games so far this season, and Mourinho's last match in charge was a 2-1 defeat to Leicester City.

Chelsea's struggles this season are in stark contrast to last term, when Mourinho's men lost just three games on their way to the championship.

It was the Special One's third Premier League title with the Blues - having won back-to-back domestic crowns in his first spell in charge from 2004-2007.

He came back in 2013 after apparently repairing his relationship with owner Roman Abramovich.

But his last season with Chelsea began in acrimonious fashion with the departure of club medic Eva Carneiro.

Ms Carneiro is pursuing an unfair dismissal claim against the club after Mourinho labelled his medical staff "naive" for rushing onto the field to treat Eden Hazard at the end of the 2-2 draw with Swansea in August.

Her role was downgraded, leading to Ms Carneiro leaving the club on 22 September.

History Of Fuel Hike In Nigeria From 1960 Till Date

It is no longer news that the Muhammadu Buhari-led government has concluded its plan to inflict more suffering to Nigerians by increasing the price of petrol from present N87 to N97.

Though we can't shy away from the fact that as the present fuel scarcity bites harder, some are buying for over N200 per litre.... We can't continue like this!

The immediate past President, Goodluck Jonathan pegged it at the same price before bowing to pressure due to fall in the price of petrol globally.

There have been series of calls for outright removal of the subsidy on the product. Though some people are against the idea.

I bring to you all the increases that have been done as regards petrol in Nigeria. Read and be updated.

• Jonathan – (few days before Feb, 2015 General Election) N87

As it is now, only Muhammadu Buhari and Musa Yar'adua didn't increase the pump price.

INEC fixes Jan. 9 for Bayelsa supplementary poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has fixed January 9, next year for the supplementary election of the Southern Ijaw Local Council cancelled by the body recently.

Impeccable multi sources within the Commission said yesterday that the tentative date being canvassed by top officials and stakeholders seems to be widely acceptable to all the principal actors in the election saga.

“Apart from the fact that the yuletide period is around the corner, consideration was given to the fact that a lot of people would return home to their villages and they wouldn’t want to be bogged down with the inconveniences of the election.

The commission wants to consult with the various stake holders and needs time to prepare for the make or mar re-run,” one of the sources said.

In order to perform its duty, Yakubu was said to have decided to carry everybody along and involve all concerned in widespread consultations.

The electoral boss, alongside his top lieutenants
yesterday, met with security chiefs in the area including the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sanusi Oki, his Army counterpart, Major General Alali Okunola and those of the Naval, Air Force and Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps.

The security situation during the recent election was discussed at the meeting, while plans were laid out to prevent a recurrence of the lapses recorded in the last poll.

The INEC boss is set to meet with all the parties that participated in the last election, together with all the candidates on Thursday in Abuja.

“They are expected to come to the meeting with all their grievances and those present are also expected to thrash all the issues exhaustively,” another source revealed.

“The chairman has been consulting widely and he wants to carry along all the stakeholders, regardless of their status or affiliations.”

It shall be the turn of the media and civil societies groups on Friday, during which INEC is expected to announce the date for the bye-election.

“INEC is trying to ensure that it shakes off the under-performance tag that is being attached to it.

The boss wants to be seen as being fair and effective. “After the Kogi near-disaster, he can’t afford to have another misstep in this one. His integrity and that of the commission are at stake here,” a source said.

TALK TURKEY: Is This The Change We All Voted For???

The present situation of the country is something to worry about not only to the political gladiators but the entire citizenry.

We can't shy away from the fact that the incumbent government inherited a sick nation from the Peoples Democratic Party-led administration.

But if I'm not mistaken, it has used close to seven months in the saddle.

We ought to have been seeing positive changes ever since, though we may not blame the All Progressives Congress (APC) outrightly but ourselves.

During the electioneering, the only slogan was 'Change! Change!!' but no one bothered to ask them to define the kind of change that they intend to bring.

Indeed we are seeing changes but majority are still very negative, to say the fact.

It is disheartening to hear the Minister of State for Petroleum saying that the federal government has concluded its plan to increase the pump price of petroleum come next year.
Indeed it has been pegged at N97 per litre.

We all stood against the ignoble 'new year gift' of Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan. When we occupied almost all places then. #OccupyNigeria

Professor Tom David West that was very vocal then has been conspicuously lost his voice since All Progressives Congress came into power.

To be candid, I'm yet to recover from the shock of President Muhammadu Buhari's Ministers without Tom West.

People believed that the man will be allowed to head Petroleum Industry once again due to his vast knowledge in the field.

His analysis about pump price cannot be forgotten so soon and his much publicised N40 per litre proposal..... Hmmmmmmm

Away from petroleum product, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola have announced in many fora that Nigerians should be ready to pay more for electricity!

Imagine that, paying for what we don't enjoy? Too bad. I must commend the members of the House of Representatives for stopping this satanic plan to inflict more hardship on Nigerians.

I think Babatunde Fashola should work on improving the electricity supply first before the unacceptable increase in tariff.
First thing, first.

Moreso, our electoral umpire is gradually turning to a laughing stock due to their 'inconclusive' elections.

The mistake of Kogi State Gubernatorial Election should have been corrected before heading to Bayelsa, but lo and behold, we found ourselves in same unpalatable situation.

Should I say that the present Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Yakubu is not competent enough to handle such sophisticated office?

And if my assumption is true, he should resign willingly than plunging Nigeria into an avoidable political crisis.

President Muhammadu Buhari should please respect his electioneering promises. There should be an end to the era of hiding at the back of a finger.

We are sick of daily denials of campaign promises. I must commend his Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari for his fight against the endemic corruption but should be across board, so that it will not be seen as a political persecution cum witch-hunt.

Release of our Chibok girls are not negotiable and should be realised, I heard it with one of my ears then that Muhammadu Buhari will lead the troop to Sambisa to secure the release of these innocent girls but we are still on same point many months after their kidnap.

If children of Nigeria's top-notch were to be among these people kidnapped, I'm sure that by now the children must have been released.

The ruling party should remember that we all clamoured and voted for change, we can still change the change if the need arises.

Good bless my country Nigeria!

PoliFocus Quote Of The Day, 17th of December, 2015

"Package; a notable ingredient to stand out"

Package means to arrange or show something in a particular way.

It can be said to be a unique characteristic of a person or product.

It involves adding value(s). This value(s) will make the product(s) different from others i.e it brings about uniqueness.

Moreover, people are ready to pay more for a well-packaged items.

The only difference between sachet water popularly known as 'pure water' and bottled water is packaging.

Some table water can not contain two sachets of 'pure water' and can go for say N50 while two sachets of same water will go for N10.

It is a fact that the bottles will come with a price, let's put it at N8 per bottle. So it means that for packaging only we are paying close to N30 for same product.

You don't have to argue with my submission because most of this bottled water companies also produce sachet water, this implies that the two come from same tank.

So package your work or business properly to have nice offers, you to need to break banks before this can be achieved.

All what you need to use your initiative and stop playing the role of a copycat!

Before now we have tailors and fashion designer but we now have couture.

Think of a sellable package for your business  cum work and you will thank me later.

Package your way to the top.

Again, House of Reps orders suspension of planned electricity tariff increase

The House of Representatives, on Wednesday, directed the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to suspend the planned increase in electricity tariff until investigation is concluded into the activities of players in the
sector.

The House Ad-hoc committee investigating the activities of Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs) in Nigeria as it relates to infrastructure and billing, in a letter dated December 15 and addressed to NERC, reminded the commission of previous communications in which it was
agreed that further actions be suspended regarding review of electricity tariff in the country.

The committee, in the letter signed by its chairman, Honourable Babajimi Benson, referred NERC to all previous correspondence in respect of the above subject and in particular.

The letter read: "In paragraph 3 (three) of our letter dated 29th October, 2015 under the same subject heading, we requested you to suspend the implementation of any increase in electricity tariff until the committee concludes its
investigations.

"Further recall that at the joint investigative hearing with the committee on power, it was agreed that any tariff increase should be suspended until all stakeholders are carried
along.

"Our attention has been drawn to various news items published in many Newspapers of yesterday (Tuesday) 13 December, 2015 to the effect that your commission has concluded plans to announce the new electricity tariff to Nigerians this week.

"It is our opinion that any plan by your commission to announce new electricity tariff will run contrary to the spirit of the letter under reference and undermines the outcome of the investigative hearing by this committee as it relates to infrastructure and billing by electricity distribution companies.

"Consequently, we hereby once again, demand that you suspend the announcement and/or implementation of any increase in electricity tariff until above stated issues are concluded," the letter read.

"Your verdict on yourself determines how far you will go in life"

It is a common saying that elephants are not born small but the reality is that great leaders are not born but built.

Though the instinct for greatness usually lies within.

My knowledge in the classroom as a teacher has proved that to me uncountable times.

You will see a student crying because he or she had 'B' while another will be elated for having 'E'.

If you take a critical look at this two scenarios, you will agree with me that failure is not because you fail at something but admittance of it.

Great men are not mediocre, the zeal to be great will always make them to do more, work more and give more to what they are doing.

So be positive and optimistic always, don't look down on yourself.

Believe you can and you will surely make it....  Amen.

Remember that your confession is always your possession. Speak positive things to your life, not only that, also believe in yourself that we can make exploit.

Permit me to be spiritual now, it is an affirmation that we are born to occupy and rule our generation.

'We can do all things through Christ that strengthens us'

This is written in my Holy Bible and I'm sure you have it in your and that similar thing will be in our Holy Quoran.

So wake up from your slumber and work your way to greatness.

Have a wonderful evening.

Not All Youths Will Get N5,000 Stipend - Chris Ngige

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige has disclosed that not all youths are entitled to the N5,000 monthly stipend promised by President Muhammadu Buhari, stressing that the federal government intends to convert most of the unemployed graduates to teachers in a bid to tackle graduate unemployment.

Speaking at an event to mark the 5th anniversary of Bina foundation and graduation ceremony of its students in Enugu, Ngige maintained that only vulnerable youths in the
society will benefit from the N5,000 monthly stipends contrary to popular believes that the social welfare initiative was for all.

He also donated equipment worth N10m to the graduands.

According to the minister, “The APC government anchored delivery on three pillars; security of lives and property, improving economy under which employment creation is the third sub-head, and infrastructure revival.

“You can see that employment creation is the main issue.

We have heard people say we are waiting for N5, 000. We did not say we are paying N5,000 to all the youth.

We are saying it is for the most vulnerable.”

On how the All Progressive Congress, APC-led federal government intends to tackle unemployment, he disclosed that the government had budgeted N500bn for social safety needs in the coming year.

“Most unemployed graduates would be converted to teachers. The move is equally aimed at boosting the education sector,” he stated.

While observing that most of the current crop of teachers in public schools were half-baked, Ngige said the government would pay serious attention to skills acquisition.

His words, “For the social safety needs, we have budgeted N500bn for the next fiscal year.

“We have captured unemployed graduates. We are doing two things; we get those who read Law, Engineering and other disciplines but do not have jobs.

We would train them for nine months and convert them to teachers.

Court strikes out DSS suit against Radio Biafra director

A Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, on Wednesday struck out the case filed by the Department of State Services, against Nnamdi Kanu, the Director of Radio Biafra.

The News Agency of Nigeria recalls that the DSS had asked the court to discontinue the case.

The DSS had told the court after the arraignment of the accused that it had stumbled on some facts which took the matter out of the jurisdiction of the court.

According to the DSS, it was discovered that the accused was involved in terrorism and has been financing it.

The DSS also obtained an order from the Federal High Court, Abuja, dated November 10, to detain the accused in its custody for 90 days.

The complainant, therefore, applied to discontinue the matter under Section 108 (1) of Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.

Kanu is standing trial on three counts of criminal conspiracy, intimidation and belonging to unlawful society, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Chief Magistrate, Usman Shuibu, in his ruling struck out the case.

Reacting to the ruling, counsel to the defendant, Vincent Obetta, said he was happy with the ruling given by the magistrate.

Breaking: Appeal Court sacks Rivers Gov. Wike, Orders Re-Run

The Court of Appeal has struck out the appeal of
Nyesom Wike seeking a dismissal of the judgment of the Rivers election petition tribunal which sacked him as governor of the state.

The tribunal headed by Justice Suleiman Ambrosa had, in a judgment on October 24, voided Wike’s election and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh election in the
state.

The tribunal in its ruling stated that the characters of voters called by Wike were impugned under cross-examination and that it agreed that the evidence of the witnesses of Wike and INEC was incredible and
unreliable.
