FG Charges Senate President Bukola Saraki And Deputy Ekweremadu To Court For Forgery

The Federal Government has filed charges at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Abuja, against the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, over the alleged forgery of the Senate Standing Rules, about a year after the submission of police report to the office of the Attorney General of the Federation by the Police.

Others also charged to court in a move viewed by analysts as directly targeted at docking Saraki and Ekweremadu over the manner they emerged Senate president and deputy respectively, are the immediate past Clerk to the National Assembly, Abubakar Maikasuwa and the Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly, Benedict Efeturi.

Lobatan! IGP Arase Orders Closure Of PDP Secretariat Over Lingering Crisis

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, has ordered the shutdown of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat.
Arase also gave the party one week to resolve its crisis.

A statement issued by the Force Spokesperson, Olabisi Kolawole, said the IGP took the decision at a meeting with stakeholders of the party in Abuja.

“In a bid to finding a lasting solution to the protracted crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, convened a meeting with all stakeholders in his Abuja office on Friday and called for peace among the parties, particularly Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and Senator Ahmed Makarfi,

“After exhaustive deliberations, in the meeting that was also attended by the Director-General of Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Musa Daura, each of the factions – Sen Ali Modu Sherif’s and Sen Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi’s-led factions agreed to nominate four representatives, each, for peace talks to arrive at a harmonized position within one week.

“The PDP Secretariat at Wadata House Plaza and Legacy House should be under lock and key pending the outcome of the resolution,” the statement said.

Internet Fraudster Bags 10 Years Imprisonment. Justice H.A. Nganjiwa of the Federal High Court, sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Friday convicted Frank Emem and sentenced him to ten (10) years imprisonment for internet-related offenses. 

The judge found him guilty of 2-counts of obtaining money by false pretences brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment on each count, without an option of fine. 

Boko Haram Fundamentalist Attack Leaves 18 Dead, Scores Injured In Adamawa

At least 18 people were killed and scores injured when Boko Haram militants attacked a village in Adamawa State on Thursday night, a security source said.

Sahara Reporters reports that the militants stormed the remote village of Kuda near Madagali town in Adamawa State at about 10 PM on Thursday night and opened fire on people, killing no fewer than 18 villagers and injuring scores more.

The US embassy has reportedly cancelled the visas of three members of the House of Representatives to the country.

The FM station is broadcasting on 96.8 frequency, the Hausa service of Voice of America has said.

EgyptAir Crash: Black Box Recovered From EgyptAir Crash Site

A search team on Thursday recovered the cockpit voice recorder from the EgyptAir plane that crashed into the Mediterranean last month in a major step towards establishing the cause of the tragedy.

According to Guardian, the device was found broken into pieces but the salvage experts managed to retrieve the recorder’s crucial memory unit, Egypt’s civil aviation authority said.

Oyo Workers’ Strike: Ajimobi, Labour Leaders Hold Peace Parley

The Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, has finally held an extensive peace parley with the national leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Nigerian Union of Teachers, in a bid to resolve the dispute that culminated in the ongoing industrial action by the workers, Channels TV reports.

A Socio-economic group in Ekitistate, the Nigeria Progressive Vanguard (NPV) has concluded arrangement to embark on a mass protest against Governor Ayo Fayose led government in Ekiti State over failure to pay workers’ salaries.

The group lamented that the hardship being faced by the workers was “worrisome, embarrassing and called for” and consequently gave the state governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, a 72-hour ultimatum within which to pay the workers or face mass action.
