Stir In Osun School As Students Appear In Church Robes (Photos)

In a bid to provoke commotion at the Educational vicinity of Osun State, quite a few students of Baptist High School, Adeeke, Iwo appeared in the school in choir robes and other church garments.

This is coming on the heels of an approval by the Osun State High Court on June 3 that Muslim students should be allowed to wear hijab in all public schools in the state.

The presiding judge, Justice Jide Falola, had held that wearing Hijab was part of the fundamental rights of Muslims’ female pupils.Following the verdict of the court, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) held an emergency meeting and threatened that it would direct Christian pupils to start wearing choir robes and other religious garments to schools should the state government implement the judgment.

According to Punch Newspaper, upon a visit to the school premises on Tuesday, the students who were dressed in church garments came to school late and were hailed by their colleagues for their courageousness.

It was learnt that some members of CAN were in the school to monitor the reaction of the teachers to the mode of dressing of their children.

It was also reported that the students were not chased out of classes for appearing in different clothes and all the students irrespective of their chosen uniforms are being taught by their teachers. -Gtrend
