Opinion: Is Bola Tinubu At Loggerheads With President Buhari?

The way Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu suddenly lost his voice in this present administration is a thing of concern to an average Nigerian and the followers of the political happenings in resent time.

Tinubu who is known as regarded as the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has contributed and still contributing in no small measure to his party.

Tinubu who was a fronting force in the build-up to the last general that produced the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari. Some political analysts believe that he is the father of opposition in Nigeria.

Senator Tinubu who was a governor of Lagos State between 1999 and 2007 has always been floating the possibility of the opposition taking over power from the then Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In 2015, his longing dream came to pass. PDP was dislodged from Aso Villa.

But since the inception of the administration, many of his decisions are being treated with disdain and kid gloves. For instance, the issue of the inauguration of the 8th Assembly that produced Dr. Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara as Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives respectively.

I hardly read in the dailies that President Buhari visited Tinubu or vice versa, this arouse my curiosity to enquire if indeed the two jolly friends are as close as before.

Though, it is a known fact that no permanent friends in politics but it will be a political suicidal if Buhari now ignores Tinubu for his newly found friends.

The contribution of Tinubu to the sustainance of our nascent democracy cannot be overemphasised. Honour should be given to whom honour is due.
