#DasukiGate: Beneficiary Clerics To Be Named Soon —Ajani Bello

National Missioner of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Muhydeen Ajani Bello, has said a list of religious clerics who benefitted from the $2.1million arms deal will soon be made public by the federal government.

He similarly regretted the alleged involvement of Muslims as major actors in the deal, saying “this is not the way of Islam”.
The cleric stated this at the weekend during the 2016 Annual Ramadan Lecture and Special Prayer for the Nation, organised by the AUD in Abuja.

The immediate past National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd), is currently standing trial at three different courts in Abuja over a 47-count charge bordering on money laundering and illegal possession of firearms.

Since his arrest, notable players under the immediate past administration of Goodluck Jonathan, have being arraigned for their alleged involvement in the deal.

Former governor of Sokoto state, Attahiru Bafarawa, is also being charged for allegedly partaking in the deal. He is believed to have been mobilised from the fund, to hire some clerics to pray for Jonathan’s success in the 2015 elections.

Hinting on possible disclosure of identities of the beneficiary clerics, Sheikh Bello said the current administration would not hesitate to deal with anyone found to have stolen the nation’s wealth.

Speaking on the topic: “Attitudinal change and spiritual rebirth”, the cleric said: “Ramadan is a season of spiritual rebirth, but how much of it has this manifestedin us?

“Remember when you will return to Allah and give account of your deeds. For you, the clerics who also took from the arms fund, your game is up. The list of those clerics will soon be made public.

It has been compiled and will soon be made public. This is a blind government and anybody caught this time around will be severely dealt with.”

He admonished the congregation not to look elsewherefor succour but God, saying, “let the lessons of Ramadan reflect in your conduct by assisting those around you, manifest Allah’s favour on you, in those around you.’“You were born naked without riches, fame and position.

He, almighty Allah only chose to bestow all these privileges upon you, so that you could assist others. Let us all return to God. Twenty two years after this programme started, has it really impacted on you? Nothing really has changed in you, “the cleric said.

Earlier, National Vice-Chairman, of the society, Alhaji Yusuf Adebayo Ibrahim, noted that the country was passing through a challenging moment.

“Fellow Ummah, if there is one thing I am sure we will agree on is the fact that these are very challenging times for our dear country.

As a result, our personal lives are being challenged on a daily basis in a number of ways, but Alhamdullilah, our faith remains unshaken.

“We will continue to put our faith in Allah (SWT), believing that whatever we face now as challenges will come to pass in sha Allah.”

The occasion which was well-attended, also had formerMinister of Petroleum Resources, Prof. Jubri Aminu, former National Security Adviser, Gen. Abdullah Mohammed, wife of the Nasarawa state governor, Hajia Mairo Al-Makura who represented wife of the President, Hajia Aisha Buhari, and Hajia Muinat Bola Sagaya, among others.
