I Feel Your Pains, Says President Buhari As He Begs Nigerians

President Muhammdu Buhari on Friday called for patience with his administration, stating that he feels the pains of Nigerians and that he was working towards turning the hardship around.

Buahari made the appeal in Lagos during the Vanguard Personality Award ceremony where he was jointly honoured with his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan as Personality of the Year, 2015.

Represented by the Minister of information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Buhari said, “Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, let me use this opportunity to tell our compatriots that this administration is keenly aware of the difficulties they are facing at this time, resulting mostly from the fuel scarcity, poor power supply, inflation etc.

NDLEA arrests Two Nigerian who swallowed N39 million worth of cocaine at Lagos airport

Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have apprehended two men at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos after being caught with over 252 wraps of cocaine weighing 4.3kgs..

According to the NDLEA, the 39 wraps of the illegal substance recovered was worth about N39 million.

The NDLEA put the street value of the drugs at about N39m.Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, the NDLEA Spokesman said the suspects, one 54-year-old Chinweuba Echezona, who is a driver and 44-year-old Ekwueme Louis, a trader who were caught during screening of passengers had stashed part of the cocaine in their luggage and ingested the remaining.

“The suspects were caught during the screening of passengers on an Emirates flight from Dubai.” He added.

While speaking on the arrest, The NDLEA commander at the airport, Ahmed Garba, said both suspects are under investigation over unlawful importation of the illegal substance.

He further revealed that “Echezona packed 103 wraps of cocaine in his waist and ingested 69 wraps weighing 2.745kgs while Louis concealed 75 wraps in his luggage and ingested five wraps.”

The spokesman, Ofoyeju, added that:“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects were promised N500,000 each to smuggle the drugs from Dubai to Nigeria.

Their trip was fully sponsored by an unidentified drug trafficking organisation.

“However, efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest their sponsors. Martins is married with five children while Louis is married with three children.”

Echezona, one of the arrests culprits in his statement said: “I am a driver but I have been out of job for a while now.

I have been searching for job and my condition was so bad that I could not feed and discharge my responsibilities as a husband to my wife and father to my children.

This was the reason I went into drug trafficking. I did it in order to survive the economic hardship.”

Louis also revealed in his statement that: “I used to sell jewellery but I have lost everything including my shop due to family problem.

I feel ashamed that I cannot take care of my family and pay the school fees ofmy children,”

The NDLEA Chairman, Muhammad Abdallah, has however ordered a swift investigation into the case.

“Let me assure members of the public that the NDLEA has taken measures to fortify the exit points in the country. Drug traffickers will find it difficult to break through our security barriers.

“The ultimate objective is to have a society that is free from illicit drug production, trafficking and abuse. This arrest is being investigated and we hope to trace other persons linked to the crime.” - Herald

Again Fulani Herdsmen Attack Olu Falae, Kill Guard

Fulani herdsmen once again attack the Chief Olu Falae.

Premium Times repressed that here is disquiet in the Obaile residence of a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Olu Falae, following a second attack on his farm by a group of 10 men, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen last Sunday.
PREMIUM TIMES  gathered that during the attack, the hoodlums went away with one of the security guards at the farm.

It was learnt that men of the Ondo State police command later found the guard dead on Thursday in a pool of water a few kilometers fromthe farm after several days of search through the forest.

Although the police was immediately alerted on the development, the matter was handled discretely by both the police command and the Falae family.

A source told our correspondent that members of Mr. Falae’s family deserted their homes at Obaile for fear of an attempt on their lives.

Mr. Falae was first attacked  and kidnapped by the herdsmen in October last year, and was only released after his family paid N5million to his abductors. Those involved were later arrested and are facing trial at the High Court in Akure.

The identity of the dead security guard, who is said to be a member of the O’odua Peoples Congress, is yet to be ascertained.

Police Public Relations Officer, Femi Joseph, when contacted Friday, would not confirm the incident, saying the Commissioner of Police, Hilda Harrison, would brief journalists on the matter “very soon.

”He said he could not speak on the matter as the police was yet to put together all the details regarding it.

The Police Commissioner actually called a press conference earlier on Friday but had to call it off for reasons yet unknown.

PREMIUM TIMES further learnt that immediately after the press conference was called off, the police boss went into a crucial meeting with the state governor, Olusegun Mimiko, at the government house.

The Personal. Assistant to Mr. Falae, Moshood Raji, when contacted, would not give details, saying it was a criminal matter being handled by the state Police Command .Mr. Raji said he could not comment on the development because the police were still investigating the matter.

Our correspondent made several calls to Mr. Falae’s telephone but he did not answer or return the calls.  He also would not respond to a text message sent to him on the matter.

Opinion: Political Poem: State Of The Nation

Larger percentage of Nigerians voted for change;
But little did they know that it might be chain.
Over 365 days after the widely professed change;
Large percentage of Nigerians are still in imaginary chain.

All we hear is the noise of heavy money being retrieved from the money-bags;
Our knowledge of arithmetic is failing us because no one actually know that sum of money retrieved.
But the hunger that is biting hard on an average Nigerian is turning him to a scumbag;
All what we want is for all the pains to be retrieved.

Everyday we wake up to hear of electioneering denials;
Blame-game cannot but be a visible attribute of the present government.
All what we want is a country that we all desire;
There should be harmony among the key players in the helms of affairs, so that we can have good governance.

Nigerian politicians like fixing their children and wards in juicy organisations;
While the masses are always told to go to farm.
Not knowing that the unattended-to masses will make sure that the structures illegally built for these children are disorganised;
For Nigeria to hold it's place in the committee of states, we will all go back to farm.

Resign Over Panama Papers, TMG Tells Bukola Saraki

Call for the resignation of Nigeria’s Senate president, Bukola Saraki, is gathering steam after Panama Papers exposed his secret offshore assets shortly after his false assets declaration trial began at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

The Transition Monitoring Group (TMG), a coalition of over 400 civic organisations working for the entrenchment of democracy and good governance in Nigeria, has added its voice to the growing calls for the embattled Senate president to step down from office.

The group said the revelations by the Panama Papers and the prosecution team are too lurid for Nigerians to ignore, adding that Mr. Saraki had lost all moral grounds to continue to occupy such office in the land.

Love? Meet A Guy That Normally Have Cramps Whenever His Lover Is On Her Menstrual Cycle
A 22-year-old man has revealed that his love for his girlfriend is so strong, he gets a 'male period' everytime she is on her monthly menstrual cycle.

George Fellowes who resides in the UK said he went to a doctor to get help when he started having mood swings and stomach cramps whenever his girlfriend, Amber-May Ellis was on her period.

In a surprising turn of events, the doctor did not think Fellowes was a crazy fellow, he actually confirmed thatthe behaviour was as a result of a psychological connection the young man had with his lover (psych, still a bit cuckoo).

Pinnick Sack Update: NFF Files Appeal, Motion To Vacate Order And Stay-Of-Execution Against Jos Court Judgement

NFF Files Appeal, Motion To Vacate Order And Stay-Of-Execution Against Jos Court Judgement
The Nigeria Football Federation has swiftly moved to file an appeal, a motion to vacate the order and a motion for a stay-of-execution against the judgement of the Jos High Court, which on Friday decided to re-list a case brought by Ambassador Chris Giwa against the validly –elected NFF administration of Amaju Melvin Pinnick.

In re-listing the case for hearing on 30thMay this year, the court shockingly also restored the order that the election and Congress of 30thSeptember 2014 be nullified.

However, since an appeal, a motion to vacate the order and a stay-of-execution has been filed,on the same day as the judgement, the status quo remains.

“This is a sad one primarily because we have enjoyed a period of peace and have been able towork without the court-today-court-tomorrowsituation of the last half of 2014.“

We have filed for stay-of-execution and that means the status quo remains and anything done is done at the actors’ peril. I can assure football –loving Nigerians that there is no reason to panic as we are in full charge and there is no trouble whatsoever.

There is no orderfor the Giwa group to take over the Glass House. In fact many of his so called board members have called to dissociate themselves from the matter,” NFF 1stVice President Seyi Akinwunmi said on Friday.

It would be recalled that the Ambassador Giwa led group had gone to court and withdrawn the case in October 2014, but then later went to the Court of Arbitration for Sports, which threw out their case.

Court Sacks Amaju Pinnick As NFF President

A Federal High Court sitting in Jos, Plateau State has sacked the Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick.

Premium Times reported that the Court also ordered Chris Giwa to resume office as president of the football federation.

The duo of Adama Yahaya and Obinna Ogba had approached the court to re-list the suit against Pinnick which they withdrew after the intervention of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Before the court ruling, many Nigerians had demanded the resignation of Pinnick from office who blamed him for the failure of the Super Eagles to qualify for the AFCON 2017, same way they missed out on the 2015 edition.

Pinnick had played down on the resignation calls, describing them as unnecessary.

It is yet to be seen how the world football governing body, FIFA, will react to the new twist in Nigerian football.

FIFA opposes football matters being taken to conventional courts.

Hope we are not on the edge of receiving FIFA's sanction?

Nasarawa Lawmakers Melee: 'I Signed Nasarawa Lawmaker's Suspension Under Duress'

Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al-Makura
A fresh twist has crept into the violence which rocked the Nasarawa State House of Assembly on Monday with the revelation that the letter suspending a member of the Assembly, Kassim M. Kassim, was signed under duress.

The Chairman, All Progressives Congress in the Moroa/Anjida ward of the Akwanga Local Government Area, Mr. Aboki Waziri, said he was forced into signing the letter suspending Kassim, who represents Akwanga-South state constituency in the legislature.

It will be recalled that the ward leadership of the party suspended Kassim on Tuesday over his role in the violence that rocked the legislature on Monday.

Violence broke out on the floor of the House over the appointment of sole administrators for 11 local government councils in the state by Governor Tanko al-Makura.

Waziri said he signed the suspension letter in the belief that it had the backing of the governor.

He said two leaders of the party (names withheld), who told him to write the letter, threatened to relieve him of his post if he did not sign the letter.

Waziri said efforts to seek clarification on the matter before appending his signature to the letter fell on deaf ears.

The ward secretary of the party, Mr. Habila Mamman, said he never signed the purported suspension letter and was told to seek clarification from the office of the governor as to who signed on his behalf.

Speaking on the development, Kassim said his political opponents in Akwanga were behind the alleged suspension.

Condemning the suspension letter, the ward executive of the party,  distanced itself from the suspension.

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, on Wednesday, gave the reason why it suspended six of its members,

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly said it suspended Kassim and other five other legislators because they were plotting to take over the leadership of the Assembly.

The Majority Leader of the House, Mr. Tanko Tunga, had on Monday, on the floor of the Assembly moved a motion for the suspension of the six members on the grounds that they organised a press conference wherein they accused their colleagues of collecting financial inducements from the governor to support the appointment of sole administrators for the local governments councils.

The Deputy Speaker, Mr. Godiya Akwashiki, alleged that the affected lawmakers had already given themselves legislative positions which they would occupy if they succeeded in their plot to impeach the incumbent leadership of the House. - Punch

Blackout Imminent As Shiroro, Sapele Power Plants Shutdown

Blackout Imminent As Shiroro, Sapele Power Plants Shutdown
The nation’s electricity woes worsened on Tuesday as two additional power generating plants were shut down, bringing the total number of plants not generating any megawatts of electricity to 10.

The two shut plants are Shiroro Power Station in Niger State and Sapele II in Delta State, industry data obtained by our correspondent showed.

Shiroro, whose capacity was put at 600MW, was said to have seen its unit 411G1 tripped on emergency shutdown on the 86ES lockout relay; units 411G2 and 3 out for under water repair work; and unit 411G4 out on maintenance.

The Sapele II, built under the National Integrated Power Project, with its capacity put at 225MW, has four units.

The GT1 was shut down for maintenance, GT3 out due to work by the Nigerian Gas Company at the gas station, while the GT2 and 4 units are out as a result of gas constraints.

Total national power generation stood at 2,774.2MW on Tuesday, down from 3,657.5MW on March 31. Generation from Egbin, the nation’s biggest power station, was limited to 415MW due to gas constraints, down from 1,085MW on March 15.Shell’s Afam VI power plant generated the highestmegawatts of electricity at 418MW as of 6am, the data showed.

The slide in power generation has worsened the blackout being experienced in many parts of the country as many consumers complained of outages lasting for hours on end.

The PUNCH had on Friday reported exclusively that eight of the nation’s power plants were completely idle on Thursday, with significant reduction in generation from others, including Egbin, which is located in Lagos.

The plants, which did not generate any megawatts of electricity included Sapele, Delta State, whose installed capacity was put at 240MW; Olorunsogo II in Ogun State, with a capacity of 625MW; Rivers IPP (180MW) and Trans-Amadi (75MW), both in Rivers State.

Others were Geregu I in Kogi; Afam IV & V in Rivers, and A.E.S and Asco, whose installed capacity were not given.Sapele’s units were said to be shut due to gas constraints, tripping, maintenance and major overhaul, among other reasons.

The Rivers IPP’s unit GT1 was out due to gas constraints, while Trans-Amadi’s GT1 and 4 units were out due to line constraints; GT2 due to gas constraints and GT3 undergoing maintenance.According to the data, there was no communication on A.E.S, while Asco’s unit GT1 was out due to a fire outbreak. Olorunsogo’s units GT1 to 4 and ST2 were shut due to gas constraints, and ST1 for maintenance.

Geregu’s three units were shut due to outage and to enable them to undergo a major overhaul and maintenance, while a unit of Afam IV & V had been de-commissioned and scrapped; four were out due to blade failure and two due to burnt generator transformer, among others.

I ‘Disvirgined’ Toyin Aimakhu Before She Met Her Toy Husband- Seun Egbegbe

I ‘Disvirgined’ Toyin Aimakhu Before She Met Her Toy Husband- Seun Egbegbe
“I ‘Deflowered’ Toyin Aimakhu Before She Met Her Toy Husband Adeniyi Johnson,” Ebony Films CEO recently floored Toyin Aimakhu while chatting with some friends at a function in Oyo.

It has been reported that the millionaire movie marketer, who is still pained by the disgraceful manner in which Toyin Aimakhu dumped him, reportedly told his friends he deflowered Toyin when she was just 16.

These are the exact words of the Ebony Films Boss:

“I use to eat that small girl before she ever dreamt of acting, I introduced her to my friend that was how she found fame.“

To be honest with you, I deflowered her long before she met that toy boy, mark my words, she will never settle because there is nothing you give her that will satisfy her.

“I used yoyo bitter and every bitter herbs on the market but my performance never satisfy her.

Whatelse does she want from me. I have my life to live please let her go forever”.

Will this be the end of Toyin Aimakhu's career?

Sex Now For Free? France Outlaws Prostitution, Bans Paying For Sex

Sex Now For Free? France Outlaws Prostitution, Bans Paying For Sex
French lawmakers passed a controversial law that makes it illegal to pay for sex and imposes fines of up to 3,750 euros ($4,270) on prostitutes’ clients.

Around 60 sex workers staged a noisy protest outside parliament during the final debate on the bill that will affect the livelihoods of at least 30,000 prostitutes in France, four in five of whom are foreign.

Some carried a banner reading “Don’t liberate me, I’ll take care of myself!”, while another poster read, in English, “Sex work is work”.

Backed by the Socialist government, the legislation hasbeen nearly two and a half years in the making. All European countries penalise pimping, but France will become only the fifth to punish the clients of prostitutes, along with Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Britain.

Good Move: FG Bans Ministers, Others From Flying First Class

Good Move: FG Bans Ministers, Others From Flying First Class
The Federal Government has banned ministers and permanent secretaries from flying first class while on official trips in a bid to cut government expenditure.
Others banned from using first class included chairmen of federal government committees, as well as chairmen and chief executives of parastatals and agencies, said Festus Akanbi, spokesman for the minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun, in a statement.

Akanbi said such top officials would be expected to travel in business class or economy class as applicable.“In the past, some government officials who should have been on Business Class usually travelled First Class, while many others travelled Business Class instead of Economy,”he said.

Akanbi noted that the measure was part of the recommendations made by the Efficiency Unit of the Federal Ministry of Finance to the Office of the Secretary of the Government of the Federation (OSGF)  as part of its mandate to“to engender transparency and reduce government’s large expenditure through procurement in the various ministries, departments and agencies of the Federal Government.”
He emphasised that the OSGF has accepted the“recommendations in full and has accordingly issued a Circular recently to effect the changes.”

He explained that the Unit, established by the Minister for Finance, had also negotiated with local and international airlines on the need to give the government discounts on air travels.

The Efficiency Unit also recommended cuts in the frequency of travels embark on by officials by ensuring that board and committee events such as meetings, workshops and conferences in Nigeria are held in locations where the institutions or persons participating in the event are domiciled.

Akanbi said,“such events should, for the most part, be held in Nigeria but where this is not possible, the prior approval of the Secretary to the Federal Government should be secured.”

He said the measures, when fully implemented, would lead to about 20% reduction in travel expenditure. According to him, a 20% reduction in air travel expenditure, using the figure of N69.417 billion incurred on travels in 2014 will result in a cost-cutting of N13.88 billion.

“The savings are expected to be even larger when discounts secured from Airlines are added. Already, 11 Airlines have offered discounts on local and international routes for travel by MDAs while negotiations are on-going with others. The discounts received so far vary across routes and airlines and range from 7% to 50%.

“The Efficiency Unit expects the implementation of the price discounts secured from Airlines to start in May 2016 when the Agreements would have been signed with the Airlines and MDA staff would have been trained and equipped for the effective administration of the new process.

“Other Overhead Expenditure items reviewed by the Efficiency Unit are those relating to Refreshments and Meals, Honorarium and Sitting Allowance as well as Advertising and Publicity. Measures that will standardise spending on these items, cut costs and promote transparency on these items have been recommended to the OSGF and the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, from which further cost-cutting on Overhead Expenditure is to be achieved.”
“In the past, some government officials who should have been on Business Class usually travelled First Class, while many others travelled Business Class instead of Economy,” he said. Sir, where did this past stop? Till yesterday April 06, 2016?
On a serious note, all government officials should fly economy. That is what usually happens in other countries. In Nigeria we are too“class”conscious and our productivity in government jobs is very low.

You go to offices they are reading bible and quoran, the take time off to go and pray. Are they praying that Nigeria and government should be better? All of these are corrupt practices.

Purported Reconciliation: Myself & TKO Aluko Prostrated Three Times To Beg Fayose -Rt. Hon. Dele Olugbemi Tells It All (Must Read)

Purported Reconciliation: Myself & TKO Aluko Prostrated Three Times To Beg Fayose -Rt. Hon. Dele Olugbemi Tells It All (Must Read)
TKO Aluko & Fayose addressing the pressmen
The immediate past Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Dele Olugbemi, has disclosed how he took the embattled former Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, Temitope Aluko, to Governor Ayodele Fayose on Sunday.

Premium Times reported that Mr. Olugbemi said it was a lie that Governor Fayose stage-managed the reconciliatory meeting and that himself, and Mr. Aluko prostrated for Mr. Fayose three times to beg the governor to forgive Mr. Aluko.

Mr. Olugbemi, who said he was surprised that Mr.Aluko could address the press yesterday and deny that he willingly attended the Sunday night meeting with Governor Fayose and that he spoke to the press under duress after the meeting, disclosed that he, out of genuine concern for peace took Mr. Aluko to Eko Hotel, Lagos venue of the meeting.”

He said, “The existing cordial relationship between Aluko and myself brought us to a discussion that eventually led to the last Sunday April 3, 2016 meeting. The former speaker said Mr. Aluko cannot deny that he re-affirmed that Governor Fayose remained his mentor, leader and father, that all his previous actions were devils work, and that he was under spiritual attack when he was saying all those things against the governor.

“Even when the governor told him to sit down, he prostrated and I also prostrated along with him tobeg the Governor for total forgiveness.

“The Governor asked Aluko four questions: whether he knew the implication of his coming to him; why he behaved in that manner; how old he was; and whether he wanted the reconciliation to be total or partial and he (Aluko) replied that he knew the consequence of coming to him and that if he did not want total reconciliation, he would not come to see the Governor.

“At this point, Aluko stood up again, saying my mentor, my leader, my egbon, I am your boy, you know, I am your boy. Whatever step I have taken before now, forgive me. Aluko and myself prostrated again.”

Narrating how the meeting was arranged and held, Mr. Olugbemi said, “Before we agreed to meet in Lagos, I first suggested that the meeting should take place in Ekiti State Government House after the wedding of the niece of Governor Fayose but Aluko said he was not too comfortable with the arrangement because of fear that he might be arrested.

“I re-assured him that the intention of the meetingwas not to arrest, embarrass or humiliate him rather than to reconcile with Governor Fayose, whom he called his mentor.

“In the morning Sunday, April 3, we agreed to meet in Lagos and I left Ekiti for Lagos. I got to Lagos at 12 noon; I lodged in a hotel at Magodo Area of Lagos.

“At 1 pm, Aluko called me to confirm my hotel room number and I gave it to him. Aluko called me back and promised to be with me within 20 minutes.

Fifteen minutes later, he called me again, and I told him that I was barbing my hair ata salon in Magodo.

He asked me to come out of the salon and we met. He came in a blue Ford Jeep together with his woman.“I joined them in the car and we drove to my hotel room where Aluko stayed with me till 2 pm.

He later instructed me to call the Governor to ascertain the time and place of the meeting.“I called the Governor, he did not pick the call. I later called Chief of Staff to the Governor.

The Chief of Staff told me to call either the ADC or CSO to the Governor for further directive. The CSO told us that the meeting will take place at theGovernor’s House residence in Magodo at 7.30pm.

“I told Aluko but he was not too comfortable with venue of the meeting. He said if the meeting is about reconciliation, it should hold elsewhere andnot the Governor’s residence. I pleaded with the Governor that the meeting should hold elsewhere as demanded by Tope Aluko, which the governor obliged.

“All these I was doing because I wanted the crisis to be totally resolved.“Immediately we were told of a new venue for the meeting, Aluko left my hotel room for Victoria Island and promised to come back at 7pm. At 7.45pm, Aluko came back to meet me at my Magodo hotel. At 9pm, I called the Governor to inform him of Aluko’s arrival.

The Governor askedif I was sure Aluko was with me and I said yes.“The governor told to us to come to Eko Hotel andhis friend will welcome us and that he would join us later. We drove in Aluko’s car, myself, a woman, a driver and my Personal Assistant.

“We got to the Eko Hotel at 9.50pm. We were taken to the Hotel waiting room. Myself, Aluko, ADC, the Governor’s friend entered the same lift to the fourth floor of the hotel.

“Inside the hotel room, we prayed and I opened the floor for discussion as agreed by Aluko. In mysubmission, I pleaded with the Governor to forgive and forget about the previous comments and allegations made by Aluko against him since he is father to us all.

Aluko interjected and said that I should allow him to lead the talk.“The governor told him to stop fooling himself at 50 and since he allowed himself to be used by the APC at 50, what legacy will he leave for his children?

The Governor told him that there is going to be reactions to this meeting by the APC and therefore advised Aluko switch-off his phones and rest for at least for two weeks to avoid counter allegations.

The Governor said that the APC will fire back at Aluko because of the money he had received from the APC to malign him.“Aluko promised the Governor to dismantle all thestructure he had put in place to attack the Governor.

The Governor said he had forgiven him totally and that he should go and sin no more.“The governor told Aluko that he would call soon and that he would need to study him (Aluko) very well within two weeks because he could go out ofthe meeting and say something different.

“The Governor also said it was better to let the press know that he had reconciled with Aluko to which he initially disagreed and later agreed to meet the press with the Governor, and myself, which we did and the video recording is everywhere for the public to see.

“On Tuesday April 5, 2016, Aluko called me, sent a text message to me that things were falling apart as the party, and aide of the governor were attacking him. That he would renege on his promise. I advised him not to take any negative action or talk to the press if he wanted his alreadybattered image to be rebuilt.

Unfortunately, he did not listen to my advice and having come to deny what he willingly took part in, I have no option than to let the public know the true story.”

[Edu] NECO won’t migrate to CBT now —Liaison Officer

[Edu] NECO won’t migrate to CBT now —Liaison Officer
The National Examination Council(NECO), says it will not migrate to Computer Based Test (CBT) mode for objective questions as planned until adequate facilities are put in place.

NECO’s Abuja Liaison Officer, Mr Abdul Mustapha, who spoke in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja, said the council has made preparations for CBT.

According to Mustapha, the CBT was put on hold until the various states fix the requisite facilities.“NECO examination has components of essay, practical, oral and objective.“

CBT is only possible with objective component; machinery has been put in place to do the CBT in the objective component.

“However, that will take time;because to do CBT, states must have centres for it.“Our examination takes place even in the most remote rural areas,’’ he said.

NAN recalls that NECO’s Registrar, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba, said recently that migrating to CBT would make the examination less cumbersome and cost effective.

We have almost finalised theprocedure on the CBT mode for our objective examinations. As soon as we have a governing board in place, theplan will be tabled before it for discussion and approval.

We are equally working toward a complete migrationto the CBT for all our examinations,’’ Garba said.

NAN reports that CBT generated a lot of controversy recently, following the hitches witnessed in the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. (NAN)

Asisat Oshoala, Francisca Ordega To Lead Falcon's Attack Against Senegal
SUPER Falcons coach, Florence Omagbemi, says the team would overcome Senegal in Friday’s 2016 Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWC) final qualifier in Dakar.

Nigeria is the defending champion. Before departing for Dakar yesterday, Omagbemi told The Guardian that she was confident the Falcons would put smiles on the faces of Nigeriansby beating Senegal on their own soil.

“We (technical crew) have selected the best players we think can do the job in Dakar. In my playing days, beating a team like Senegal wouldn’t have been a problem for the Super Falcons, but everything has changed.

All the teams preparing tomeet Nigeria now always sit tight, but I don’t see Senegal surviving us,” she said. With the Super Falcons out of the Rio Olympics Games, the new coach says qualifying for the AWCin Cameroun is not negotiable.

Friday’s first leg will hold in Dakar, while the second leg will take place in Abuja on April 12.

It was learnt yesterday that 18 players made Omagbemi’s team for the battle of Dakar.

But one of the foreign-based strikers, Esther Sunday, could not make the cut.

The team to Dakar is made up of two goalkeepers, six defenders, five midfielders and five attackers.

Arsenal Ladies new sign on, Asisat Oshoala, and Washington Spirit USA striker, Francisca Ordega, are expected to lead Falcons’ attack against the Senegalese.Others who made the trip to Dakar include goalkeeper Ibubeleye Whyte, Ugo Njoku, Osinachi Ohale, Onome Ebi, Ngozi Ebere, Rita Chikwelu and Ngozi Okobi.

CCT Trial: :Saraki may resign any moment as senators mount pressure

Ahead of the expected judgment of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, following yesterday's commencement of his trial over false assets declaration when he held sway as governor of Kwara State, Senate President, Bukola Saraki may throw in the towel by resigning from his position any movement from now, Vanguard learnt.

In other not to be humiliated while on the throne, some senators including those who had vowed to remain with him to the end of his trial at the anti-graft court, yesterday, asked the Senate President to consider the resignation option so as to save the Senate, as an institution.

Vanguard gathered that the option was thrown to him at a special meeting held by a group of some loyal senators, who followed him to his Maitama residence, shortly after the end of yesterday's trial at the court.

But as Saraki is considering the option, senators of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, appeared to be at loggerhead with their counterparts in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over the Senate President's successor.

While the APC senators are insisting on producing Saraki's successor, those of the PDP are favorably disposed to anointing one of their own, a development that has further polarized the Red Chamber.

A senator of the PDP fold, who spoke to Vanguard late yesterday, but on condition that his identity would not be mentioned, said Saraki was given the option of resigning basically to save the institution of the legislature.
'"I can confirm to you that at a special meeting held yesterday, we asked the Senate President to consider the option of resignation.

"We believe that doing so would preserve the institution of the Senate, "he said, refusing to speak further.

Asked whether the Senate President was considering the resignation option, the lawmaker said '" this was just thrown at him this evening. We believe that he would do the right thing.'".

Meanwhile, names of senators Abdullahi Adamu, representing Nasarawa West from the APC and Suleiman Adokwe of the PDP were being touted as possible replacements of the Senate President to press time.

I Didn't Reconcile With Fayose; Accepting The Invitation Was A Tactical Error - TKO Aluko

I Didn't Reconcile With Fayose, Accepting The Invitation Was A Tactical Error - TKO Aluko
Former Secretary  Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Tope Aluko has said the purported reconciliation between him and Governor Ayodele Fayose was not true.
At a conference in Lagos,  Aluko said he was under duress to admit to a reconciliation which was aimed at tarnishing his integrity.

He said he had gone to Eko Hotel Lagos on Sunday, April 3, to honour an invitation by the PDP leadership to address some issues affecting the state, stressing that Ekiti has been in the news for the wrong reason in recent times.

According to The Nation, Aluko said he went to the meeting in the company of his wife and  was shocked to see Governor Fayose walked into the meeting. He said  he was obliged to be at the meeting because he was invited by two senior members of the party.

“I need not recall the drama and face off that ensued between me and Fayose  inside the meeting. It is worthy of note that it was at this point that my wife badged into the meeting to inform me of the presence of pressmen.

“At that point I became I became enraged and decided to leave the the place but I noticed Governor Fayose rushing after me downstairs in a gestapo manner.
“My wife was already fidgeting and almost crying and suddenly I could not find her around me. I immediately realized that I need to oblige Governor Fayose’s  instruction of the facing the press because of the safety of my family.“

The former PDP scribe stressed that he never refuted his earlier position and still stood by his words.“I have earlier said before before Nigerians and the whole world about the manipulation that characterized the 2014 governorship election in Ekiti State and still stand by all I said.

“You will also notice the several counter allegations by Fayose and his media team that none of them has refuted all I have said, rather the attack has been on the messenger and not the message. I will like to apologise to all Nigerians that perhaps, accepting the invitation was a tactical error.

“I will also like you to know that I am dealing with a master fraudster who is always full of mischief. You will allrecollect how he announced the purported death of Hon. AfolabiAkanni; the purported arrest of four members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly that later resurfaced.

”I need to emphasize that all that transpired at Eko Hotel on that faithful day was an organized propaganda/drama to stain my image and malign my personal integrity and I believe it would be a good script for Nollywood act,”he said.
