STRANGE: Man docked for possessing 50 nude photos of his daughter

A man in Australia found himself in court after Police found 50 nude photos of his daughter in his possession.

According to police, the nude photos came to light after they responded to a break-in at his home.

During investigation, officers noticed a framed picture of a 7-year-old girl with her backside exposed.

The photo was reportedly taken 25 year ago and was hanging in the family’s hallway.

Police later returned to the house with a search warrant and after a search that took about 4 hours, police found 50 nude photos of the man’s daughter and partially nude photos of the man’s children.

They also found nude photos of his wife and himself.

The unidentified man was then charged to court with possession of child abuse material.

In court, the man was found not guilty on after a judge ruled that his family had a “relaxed attitude” to nudity and that he had not committed a crime.

The ruling came after his daughter affirmed in court that all the nude photos of her were taken with her consent.

The Magistrate ruled not guilty after he said that the two photos which were taken showing her nipples “were in bad taste.”

He added that the photos were not sexually offensive and does not constitute as child abuse material.

The defendant in his testimony, said that the photos were not taken for the benefit of anyone other than the family.

The judge told prosecutors that the man’s wife and two children were “not shy about nudity in the company of each other at home and away from home.”

PoliFocus Condemns The Position Of Nigeria Governors' Forum On N18,000 Minimum Wage

The ignoble position of the Nigeria Governors' Forum on the their planned reduction in minimum wage of 18,000 to worker or sacking some of them is satanic, primitive and uncalled for.

This was made known by the chairman of Nigerian Governors Forum and Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari.

He said on Thursday that irrespective of public condemnations of the plan, it would not be economically feasible to retain the same workforce and pay same amount of money.

In his words, "Nigerian governors will eventually reduce the federal minimum wage of N18,000 or downsize because of the current economic crunch".

He continues by saying, the funds allocated from the Federation account could no longer sustain the expenses of the states as the internally generated revenue was still below par in some states.

This position is anti-people and should not allow to stand, if these so-called governors can be taking home millions every month with their unnecessary aides taking over N300,000 as well and bent on reducing N18,000 as minimum wage for workers that share same market and amenities with them, it means that they are callous.

They have different aides that are not necessary, I think they should start by reducing them and also their take home.

The position of Gov. Ayo Fayose of Ekiti, Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers and Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo by aligning with the workers cum masses should be commended by all and sundry.
With this their  satanic stand, I don't see them creating jobs for already saturated unemployed class in Nigeria.

And tertiary institutions in Nigeria are turning out graduates on yearly basis....  What will be the fate of this class of people????

If Nigeria is not an animal kingdom, where everything goes, this so-called Chairman of Governors Forum should be made to step down from that office but the reverse is the case.

Governance is all about making the lives of your subjects (Citizenry) happy not the other way round.

Nobody forced anyone of them there, if they can't do our biddings again, the person should follow the advice of Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose by resigning.

The solution to the dwindling economic situation is to diversify our economy and cut cost of governance.

Having a fleet of cars in a convoy and a situation where Governor's cook has special adviser should be deleted.

Higher percent of Nigerian youths are jobless, this can't but be linked to the rise in social vices, though I'm not supporting vices but the fact must be told.  Res ip sa loquitus

Better Nigeria is possible!

Raymond Dokpesi's Family Releases Press Statement, Denies His Involvement In The Botched Arms Deal

The family of Raymond Dokpesi, AIT/DAAR group boss has released a statement regarding his continue detention in EFCC's net.

The statement reads:

THE CONTINUED DETENTION OF HIGH CHIEF RAYMOND DOKPESI BY THE EFCC ON ALLEGATIONS OF MONEY LAUNDERING

1. It has become very imperative that following an article published in the Nation Newspaper and reprinted in other online and social media, that we provide more clarification on the current detention without trial of Dr. Raymond Dokpesi by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC in Abuja over allegations of Criminal Conspiracy and Money Laundering.

2. In the first place there is no iota of truth whatsoever that Dr. Dokpesi had a hand in any transaction with the former National Security Adviser regarding the purchase of arms, locally or internationally. This falsehood has become commonplace as his detention is constantly being associated with what has generally become known by the media as the $2.1 Billion US Dollars Arms Deal Scandal.

3. We will like to make it abundantly clear that Dr. Dokpesi's DAAR INVESTMENT & HOLDINGS COMPANY LTD, initiated a proposal to the Presidency of Former President Goodluck Jonathan proposing a Multi Media Strategic Development Support Project to promote and project the achievements and highlight the challenges of his government whilst demystifying false information gleefully circulated by the propaganda machinery of the then opposition party.

4. The proposal was submitted to the Former President in person by Dr. Dokpesi and his team in the presence of the Former Vice President and the Former National Security Adviser at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. We must further emphasize that the proposal had absolutely nothing to do with the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP), nor the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).

5. We understand that this proposal was thoroughly studied, approved and paid for by the Presidency through the office of the National Security Adviser which to the best of our knowledge has multiple budgetary sub-heads including for the promotion and propagation of information to sustain and stabilize the government and its administration.

6. We are still at a loss as to why a Federal Government that claims to have been popularly elected only about six months ago, will embark on a wide scale propaganda, misinformation and brazen falsehood just to achieve its objective of decimating its perceived political opponents and supporters of the previous government's administration.

7. High Chief Raymond Dokpesi remains a law abiding and consummate patriot who has served his fatherland to the best of his ability with Zeal, Zest and oftentimes a very infectious sense of patriotism.

8. For the avoidance of doubt, Dr Dokpesi has never applied nor bidded for a contract for the purchase of arms. Nor has he ever been registered with the Ministry of Defence for the similar objective of engaging in the supply of Arms for the Government. Unfolding events will soon prove irrefutably and unlike what fictious stories are being fed to the media as published by The Nation Newspaper on Friday 4th December 2015.

9. We urge the Buhari-led APC Government to rigorously investigate all political and economic crimes thoroughly before embarking on a media trial and sentencing even before the law courts of Nigeria have an opportunity to adjudicate.

10. Our democracy must grow on all fronts but more so under the rule of law which remains the bedrock of any democratic system.

Signed

Raymond Dokpesi Jnr.

PoliFocus Quote Of The Day

"The difference between here and there is t"

Time which is known to be the scarcest resources available to mankind.

T-- in the quote implies time.  Proper use of one's time will determine what one will become in the nearest future.

Remember that yesterday can't be edited, but you have the ample opportunity to design your tomorrow today.

All actions and inactions of a man determines his future, permit me to be a bit metaphysical.

It is a known fact that God determines the 'tomorrow' but we should not shy away from the fact that he has given us the power to choose.

Choosing means, you have a role to play as to how your tomorrow will be.

In the Biblical Garden of Eden, it is very possible for God not to have planted the "Tree that Adam and Eve eat'.

But he had the tree there so that they can decide either to live or die but they chose wrongly....  Too bad!

Be that as it may, it is also in the Bible that" work and pray". So if you only pray without work, you are only stressing yourself and vice versa.

The two go pari passu. Make proper use of your time.
God created us all equally, but what we become in life will be determined on how we used our "time".

Some are professionals; some are miscreants! God is not partial but we directly or indirectly design our future.

Use you time well.
Have a very nice weekend.

Conductor stabs passenger to death over transport fare

A 30-year-old man, Omoyeni Ojo, has allegedly been stabbed to death by an unidentified bus conductor in the Kilo area of Surulere, Lagos, over transportation fare.

The late Omoyeni, The Nation reports, boarded a
commercial bus at Ojuelegba area of Surulere and handed the conductor a N500 note in payment of the fare.

The conductor was said to have warned the deceased that he had no lower denomination of the currency to pay Omoyeni his balance.

Argument ensued in the process and the duo engaged in a fight but was separated by other passengers on the bus.

The conductor allegedly stabbed Rowland with a broken bottle.
An eyewitness said, “He (Omoyeni) boarded the
commercial bus at Ojuelegba and gave the conductor N500.

The transport fare is just N50 and he demanded
a balance of N450 but the conductor told him off.

They launched an argument that resulted in a fight but they were separated by other passengers.

“On getting to Kilo Bus Stop, where he disembarked, a fight again broke out between the late Omoyeni and the conductor, when the conductor could not provide his balance of N450.

It was during the fight that the conductor stabbed Omoyeni dead with a broken bottle.”

Another eyewitness, who simply identified himself as Gloria, said that Omoyeni fell in a pool of blood and died a few minutes later after drivers at a nearby Taxi Park allegedly declined to take him to hospital.

“Omoyeni, aka Rowland, struggled in a pool of his blood for about one hour but no one was ready to take him to hospital.

Even the cab drivers around did not assist in
taking him to hospital before he died.

“Now, we are living in fear as youths in the area have vowed to take up commercial bus and taxi drivers in the community.

As we speak, you can hardly get commercial vehicles to take you to Ojuelegba because of the unfortunate incident.”

The incident has been reported to Aguda Police Station, Surulere.

Resign If You Can't Pay Salaries, Fayose Tells Governors

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, yesterday
distanced himself from the decision of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) to cut staff strength of the public service as a way out of the current economic challenges facing the nation.

Governor Fayose said that the decision could not have represented the collective will of the NGF, alleging that:

“It could at best be described as an agenda of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its central
government, which appears to be clueless about
revamping the Nigerian economy.”

Fayose, who stated categorically that Ekiti State should be counted out of such arrangement, insisted; “I like to restate that workers remain critical stakeholders in governance in Nigeria and as such, their rights and privileges must be protected and guaranteed at all times in the spirit and letters of the Nigerian Constitution, particularly the fundamental objectives and directive principles of state policy.

“It’s painful that a Government which indulged in propaganda and promised to alleviate the sufferings of Nigerians could consider the idea of retrenching workers within its first six months in office alongside the withdrawal of subsidy on petroleum products.

“It’s a known fact that some state Governors plunged their states into huge debts very carelessly and recklessly thus mortgaging the lives and souls of their states.

“There is therefore no moral justification for a resort to job cut. The social implications of laying off workers at this critical period include social crimes like robbery, suicide and all sorts of malfeasance.”

According to him, governors must go and engage with their people, through interactions on the way forward.

Continuing, Fayose stated that “sate governors and parties that cannot cope with basic obligations particularly payment of workers salaries may want to step down for more competent manager.

“State governors must ensure drastic reduction of costs of governance especially those of pleasure for such executives; central and state governments must cut down on foreign travels and huge estacodes;

and we all must look inwardly for alternative means of sourcing revenue rather that resort to borrowing.”

Real Madrid expelled from Copa del Rey after Denis Cheryshev error

Real Madrid have been expelled from this season’s Copa del Rey for fielding ineligible player Denis Cheryshev in Wednesday evening’s last-32 first leg game at Cadiz.

Official statements from the Spanish FA (RFEF) and the club were due later on Friday once the competition committee completed its daily cases, but Real Madrid are now expected to ask the Spanish government to overturn the decision.

Cheryshev, usually on the fringes of the Madrid first team, started against the third-tier side and scored his team’s opener, but during the game it emerged that he was suspended having been booked three times in the competition when on loan at Villarreal last term.

After the game Cadiz decided to officially appeal to the RFEF — and on Friday morning the governing body’s ruling judge and legal expert Francisco Rubio followed procedure and rejected both defences presented by Real Madrid.

Blancos president Florentino Perez said on Thursday that he did not accept his club were responsible, as nobody had informed them that Cheryshev was banned, and said he intended to appeal any punishment to the Spanish sports ministry’s Administrative Court for Sport.

He had earlier argued that the punishment
would have been made null after the first three rounds of the Copa.

Cheryshev’s one-match ban was published online by the RFEF in March, and all Spanish clubs were supposed to receive a document outlining all punishments rolling over into the new season last August.

Perez has denied Madrid received this
document. Perez appeared to signal both Cheryshev himself and Villarreal as responsible for not having notified Madrid of the ban.

Asked about this by Marca, Villarreal president Fernando Roig said: “I am not going to judge
Florentino.

“We have people who keep an eye on our suspensions, not those of others. If we signed a player who had a ban, we would look at his situation before he played.

Villarreal have nothing else to say. What other clubs do is not our concern.”

A Madrid fan has told AS that he tried to warn the club that Cheryshev could not play against Cadiz, but was politely told not to worry.

A supporter is reportedly planning to bring a legal case against Perez personally for the loss of club revenue due to the fact there will be no more Copa games this season.

It is no longer news that all the indegenes of Bayelsa State will be going to the poll tomorrow, 5th of December, 2015 to elect the person that will steer the ship of the state for the next 4 years.

The battle can be said to be between the incumbent governor, Dickson of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Sylva, a former governor of the State under the umbrella of All Progressives Congress (APC).
This doesn't mean that other parties are not fielding candidates but the I wrote on the main contenders.

Six of them stepped down for Sylva of APC yesterday.

The events leading to the build up have heated up the polity already, there have been accusations and counter accusations between the two leading candidates and parties.

In every competition, there is always a winner, the winner should be magnanimous in victory and the looser(s) should imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship.

If truly you want to represent people and the same people say no through their votes, there shouldn't be anarchy else you have a sinister motive.

To the electorates, let everyone abide by the law, cast your vote peacefully.

To the umpire, Independence Electoral Commission (INEC) should not be biased, level play ground should be given to all the candidates.

To our law enforcement agencies, be professional in all your conducts before, during and after the election.

We in PoliFocus, wish all Bayelsans and Part of Kogi successful elections. Because a part of Kogi State (91 polling units) will be casting their votes in the supplementary election simultaneously tomorrow.

Brief Profile of Mexico, A North American Country

Mexico officially the United Mexican States is a federal republic in North America.

It is bordered on the north by the United States; on the south and west by the Pacific Ocean; on the southeast by Guatemala, Belize, and the
Caribbean Sea; and on the east by the Gulf of Mexico.

Covering almost two million square kilometres (over 760,000 sq mi), Mexico is the fifth largest country in the Americas by total area and the 13th largest independent nation in the world.

With an estimated population of over 120 million, it is the eleventh most populous and the most populous Spanish-speaking country in the world and the second most populous country in Latin America.

Mexico is a federation comprising thirty-one states and a Federal District, it's capital and largest city.

Pre-Columbian Mexico was home to many advanced Mesoamerican civilizations, such as the Olmec, Toltec, Teotihuacan , Zapotec , Maya and Aztec before first contact with Europeans . In 1521, the Spanish Empire conquered and colonized the territory from its base in
Mexico-Tenochtitlan,  which was administered as the Viceroyalty of New Spain. Three centuries later, this territory became Mexico following recognition in 1821 after the colony's Mexican War of Independence.

The tumultuous post-independence period was characterized by economic instability and many political changes.

The Mexican-American War (1846-1848) led to the territorial cession of the extensive northern borderlands, one-third of its territory, to the United States.

The Pastry War , the Franco-Mexican War , a civil war, two empires and a domestic dictatorship occurred through the 19th century.

The dictatorship was overthrown in the Mexican Revolution of 1910, which culminated with the promulgation of the 1917 Constitution and the emergence of the country's current political system.

Mexico has one of the world's largest and most
diversified economies, with an abundance of natural resources such as oil and silver. It has the fifteenth largest nominal GDP and the eleventh largest GDP by purchasing power parity.

The Mexican economy is strongly linked to those of its North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) partners, especially the United States.

Mexico was the first Latin American member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation
and Development OECD (since 1994).

It is classified as an upper-middle income country by the World Bank and a newly industrialized country by several analysts.

By 2050, Mexico could become the world's fifth or seventh largest economy.

The country is considered both a regional power and middle power, and is often identified as an
emerging global power.

Due to its rich culture and history, Mexico ranks first in the Americas and sixth in the world by number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

In 2010 it was the tenth most visited country
in the world, with 22.5 million international arrivals annually.

Mexico is a member of the UN , the WTO, the G20 , the Uniting for Consensus and is an observer of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie since2014.

President of Mexico is Enrique Peña Nieto while the President of the Senate is Miguel Barbosa Huerta.

President of the Chamber of Deputies Silvano Aureoles Conejo.

Court dismisses Wada, Faleke’s suit, okays supplementary polls #KogiDecides

Justice Gabriel Kolawole of Federal High Court in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital has dismissed the suit filed before it by Governor Idris Wada of Kogi state as well as that of James Faleke, the running mate of late Abubakar Audu today.
The court also ruled that supplementary elections slated for December 5 in 91 polling units will go ahead as planned.

Kolawole struck out all the suits saying that his court has no jurisdiction to entertain the issues brought as they are post election matters.

He therefore ruled that the issues in the different suits should be taken to the Election Petition Tribunal for determination when it is constituted.

The Judge also ruled that the issue of the legality or otherwise of the supplementary poll can also be determined by the Tribunal. He therefore ruled that the supplementary election should go ahead as planned by INEC.

In his suit, Wada approached the court, urging it, to order the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to declare him winner of the November 21 November gubernatorial election that was declared inconclusive by INEC.

Wada who was second to late Audu in the polls argued that since Audu is dead, he should be declared winner and given a certificate of return.

Similarly, Faleke approached the court arguing that since he was running mate to late Audu, he deserves to run as the candidate of his party, the All Progressives Congress.

INEC had stated that APC had the powers to choose a candidate to replace Audu because it was the party process that produced the late Audu as its candidate.

Yahaya Bello who finished behind Audu in the primaries was picked by the party as his replacement for the supplementary polls.

The suits

In the suit by Faleke, he argued that INEC’s decision was wrong. He therefore asked the court to among others compel INEC to declare his joint ticket with the late Abubakar Audu winner of the election and to restrain it
(INEC) from proceeding with its planned supplementary election.

In the second suit, Governor Wada who is also the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party asked the court to compel INEC to declare him winner of the election, on the ground that he is the only surviving candidate in the election
who scored the second highest votes after the deceased candidate of the APC.

The third suit was filed by Emanuel Daiko, who claimed to have contested the election as a candidate of the People for Democratic Change (PDC) and wants the court to among others hold the supplementary election as illegal, prevent
APC from substituting its deceased candidate and to prevent APC from participating in the election on the ground that it no longer has a candidate.

In the fourth suit, Raphael Igbokwe a member of the House of Representatives from Imo State and Stephen Wada Omaye want the court to annul the November 21 election and conduct a fresh one. It has INEC and APC as defendants.

In the fifth suit, one Johnson Jacob Usman who said he is an indigene of Kogi State as well as a registered voter and a lawyer seeks to among others, compel INEC to suspend all actions in relation to the election pending the determination of the suit and a declaration that the election ought to be cancelled. It has the AGF and INEC as defendants.

PoliFocus' Quote Of The Day

"Reader are leaders"

For you to be a great leader, you must be a good reader.
Literally, this doesn't mean that you must be a professor but you must read wide.

Reading anything that is readable, I remember what my dad used to tell me when I was young.

"He always tell me that no knowledge is a waste" You must make reading your hobby.

Read about great leaders and successful entrepreneurs, with that you will be exposed to one or two of their secret towards attaining greatness.

Having basic education is a factor, you should be literate, so as to cope in the 21st century world.

Read your way to stardom.
Good morning my valued friends.

Ebola survivor’s wife delivers a baby girl

Barely a month after one of the Ebola survivor Ada Igonoh delivered of a baby girl, the wife of Ebola survivor, Mrs. Opeyemi Adejoro, has been safely delivered of a healthy Ebola-free baby girl at First Consultant Medical Centre, Lagos.

The hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. Benjamin Ohiaeri announced the birth of the baby who was delivered at 7.24pm on 1st December 2015.

The baby girl, weighing 3kg at birth (its placenta 450g), a product of a term gestation was delivered following strict guidelines and recommendations from the Centre for Disease Control (CDC), USA, through the pre-natal and delivery stages.

It could be recalled that Dr. Adewale Adejoro husband of Mrs. Opeyemi Adejoro contacted ebola virus when he went to set an IV line for Mr. Patrick Sawyer on the night before his death, the patient reached out and shook the doctor’s hand just before the doctor slipped
on his gloves.

Still, Dr. Adejoro told Dr. Cleary that he could not say for certain whether that slip led to his Ebola infection. Between a week and 10 days later, Dr.
Adejoro’s symptoms began.

Dr. Adejoro found it “very, very difficult” to drink enough ORS to stay hydrated. He was the only one of the six survivors Dr. Cleary interviewed who received IV fluids, which aided his eventual recovery.

Congrats!!!!!

PoliFocus Condemns The ignoble "Bill Against Social Media Users In Nigeria"

The social media was flooded with the news that a bill that hope to send social media users to two years jail if the post(s)  of such user(s) is discovered to be falsehood.

Though the leadership of the Senate has debunked the news but to every rumour, there is always an iota of truth in it.

The bill which was sponsored by Ibn Na'Allah under the guise of Senate President Bukola Saraki. If passed social media users will be sent to jail if government deems social media post or petition to be false with  option of N4m fine.

PoliFocus condemns this I'm strong term, social media is now the largest constituency in Nigeria. Where masses opinions are heard.

With social media, you to need to knock on the door of your representative before reaching to him or her.

It will be callous of the president government and the sponsor of the bill to deny us this widely accepted link.

Most of the crop of people in government now enjoyed the wide range of coverage of this social media during electioneering.

Senator Ibn Na'Allah should be tamed and the upper chamber in general, so as not to plunged the nation into an avoidable problem or protest.

Era of harassment is gone into oblivion!

Facebook will lock people out of its site unless they are registered users

Facebook Rule Change After Privacy Ruling
Facebook is locking people out of its site unless they are registered users, following a privacy ruling.

At the moment, people can view the public pages on Facebook without having to be signed in.

But after the Belgian Privacy Commissioner said that it could not track non-registered people using cookies, Facebook says it is going to lock them out altogether.

The move applies only to Belgium at the moment, but the ruling was made using European law which means similar issues could arise in other countries.

A Facebook spokesman said that cookies had protected Belgian people from more than 33,000 "takeover attempts" and attacks on its network in the past month.

They added that the firm was "disappointed", and said from now on people would be forced to log in if they want to see content which is publicly available to users elsewhere.

The biggest losers are likely to be businesses who are increasingly using Facebook to promote themselves.

Shocking Revelation: I'm Out Of Marital Mess - Anita Oyakhilome

Anita, the estranged wife of founding President of Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, is celebrating what she called freedom from an abusive relationship.

In a December message on Wednesday, she wrote:

“ December is the last month of the year I start every month thankful and for this month of December I am eternally
grateful.

I am worthy of love, to give and receive. I have value and self-respect, no one has the
ability to oppress, suppress or depress me. I am enough and complete in God.

My today is better than yesterday.
I have come to a place of wholeness, strength and joy.

God pulled me out of mess; I have a happy life free from abuse. No one can take the place of God; he is sovereign and reigns forever.

Man is mortal and his days on earth are
numbered. When the end comes, it is a glorious thing to return to our maker, to dwell in His holiness and truth.

The end of the year brings a rebirth of
another year. The death of something can be the rebirth of another thing.

All is not lost. Whatever happens in your life,
no matter how distressing things might seem. When darkness appears endless, watch out for that tiny spark of light, when you can muster up the courage to thank God for closed doors.

In the process of counting your blessings, you find joy!”

Pastor Anita, who now goes by her maiden name, Ebhodaghe, filed a divorce suit against her husband on grounds of infidelity, saying she “tolerated abuse for so long.”

BUSTED: Bode George, Former Governor Odili Got N100M Each From National Security Adviser In Arms Purchase Scam

A source at the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission has linked former Governor Peter Odili of Rivers State and a once convicted top member of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bode George, with receiving N100 million each from the former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (ret.).

The EFCC source told SaharaReporters that the largess to the two PDP officials was diverted from funds meant for the purchase of arms in order to better equip the Nigerian military in its campaign against Islamist terror group, Boko
Haram.

Instead, the N200 million paid to the two PDP stalwarts was designed to ensure the re-election of former President Goodluck Jonathan, who lost the presidential election held on March 28, 2015.

A panel appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari is currently investigating the reported theft of more than $2 billion from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in the name of purchasing arms.

Mr. Dasuki, who was arrested yesterday, initially claimed he stole no funds, adding that Mr. Jonathan approved all his expenses related to arms deals.

However, his position changed soon as he was
confronted with the statement written by his former director of finance, Shuaibu Salisu who had squealed on all those involved in the scam to investigators.

Nigerian law enforcement agents have so far arrested twenty one persons in relation to the arms purchase scandal.

Those under detention or arrest include former
senior staff of the office of the National Security Adviser, a former state governor, Attahiru Bafarawa, and the owner of African Independent Television (AIT) network, Raymond
Dokpesi. All the arrested suspected are being interrogated in connection with money laundering.

Yesterday, the former NSA, Mr. Dasuki, joined the other suspects at the offices of the EFCC. Agents of the Department of State Services (DSS) handed Mr. Dasuki over to EFCC operatives who have begun questioning him on how he allegedly diverted funds meant for arms purchase into Mr. Jonathan’s re-election campaign.

An EFCC investigator told SaharaReporters that some of the detained suspects were now providing useful information after almost all of them initially exhibited resistance.

AIT proprietor, Mr. Dokpesi, has openly asserted that he received funds from the NSA to run publicity for the Jonathan and PDP campaigns. An official of the EFCC told SaharaReporters that it was “unbelievable for the NSA [National Security Adviser] to be the person allocating
money for political campaigns.”

Mr. Bafarawa, whose detention was approved by a court order, has stated that he received N4.6 billion from Mr. Dasuki for “spiritual purposes.”

Our EFCC source said their agents were still questioning the former governor to explain
what was meant by “spiritual purposes.”

Our source revealed that Mr. Odili and Mr. George “may soon be invited to explain why they received N100 million each from funds budgeted for arms purchase.”

Those still in EFCC detention as at last night are as follows: Shuaibu Salisu, Abba MT Usman, Sagir Attahiru, Evegny Kundaev, Aminu Baba Kusa, Salisu Usman Garu, Bashir Yuguda, Attahiru Bafarawa. Mr. Dokpesi was released last night after meeting bail conditions.

The case of Bode George is instructive, at a thanksgiving service held by him after his release from prison in 2011 in Lagos a Lagos priest delivering a sermon entitled, ‘A minister and a witness,’ Venerable Tayo Aduloju had this to say according to Punch newspaper: “If you are involved in any shady deal; if you are found anywhere elections are rigged; and partake in any form of manipulation, it means you have not learnt anything from your experience.

Real power belongs to God. It does not belong to PDP. It does not belong to any president.
“As from today, you are expected to represent Christ. You are an ambassador of Christ. Never again will the name of God be soiled through you.”

Aduloju also charged politicians to shun thuggery, rigging and avarice so as to return the country on the path of decency.

He said, “Shun thuggery. Shun violence. Shun greed. Shun rigging and whatever that can cause trouble.” Mr. George later denounced this priest at a press conference.

Saraki Denies Introducing Any Bill Aimed At Jailing Social Media Users

The Senate has denied introducing any bill aimed at jailing social media users.

It made the explanations in a a statement signed by Bamikole Omishore, SA New Media to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, entitled “Clarification on false claim that Senate passed a bill proposing to jail social media users for two years”.

According to him, “The bill being made reference to, is An Act to Prohibit Frivolous Petitions and Other Related Matters, which absolutely makes no mention of jailing social
media users.

“Senator Na’Allah’s bill seeks to make illegal, the common act of individuals sponsoring frivolous petitions to tarnish/blackmail public servants or political office holders for selfish purposes.

The bill also seeks to make it a requirement for petitioners to depose to an affidavit in court which will must be attached to any petition.

Where such petition is discovered to be frivolous, or mischievous or the fact there in are false, the proposed bill makes it a case of perjury which is an offense under the law.

“The Deputy Senate leader in his submission expressed concern that with such frivolous petitions, the right of an individual to be presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent court, would have eroded such presumption of innocence as these petitions lead to media trials that hampers the rule of law.

“In the developed societies and in particular, the US, if one files a petition with the Federal Bureau of Investigation or any other government agency, aimed at defaming someone, ruining their reputation or family and such petition is discovered to be false, such a person will be held liable and would pay dearly for it.

“One can only imagine that if countries allowed dishonest elements to file petitions against their opponents without having to hold them accountable, this will amount to impunity.”
