The Nigerian Senate is reportedly making plans to censor social media via a bill which has passed the second reading.

The controversial bill was sponsored by Senator Ibn Na’Allah and is expected to authorize a two-year jail term for social media abusers.

Here are 7 things you should know about Na’Allah:

1. He reportedly bought a private jet in 2009. According to a report on Nairaland citing the Sun Newspaper, Na’Allah said that it was cheaper for him to maintain his aircraft, than to maintain some cars in his garage.

2. Na’Allah was reportedly a car dealer before venturing into politics.

3. He was once a member of the House of Representatives representing Zuru/Fakai/Zakaba/ Dawazagu Federal Constituency of Kebbi State.

4. He is currently representing the Kebbi South Senatorial District

5. A legal/constitutional process to recall him was launched in September 2015 and has received 30,000 signatures, according to Nigerian Insight.

6. He is a lawyer and a pilot. He is married with children.

7. He is the Deputy Majority Leader of the Senate.
