Army Clash with Shiite Members in Zaria

Violence erupted in Kaduna and some parts of Northern Nigeria a few days ago after the convoy of General Tukur Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff, was attacked by Shiite members in Zaria, Kaduna state.
Buratai was on his way to pay homage on the Emir of Zazzau and attend the Passing Out Parade of 73 Regular Recruits Intake of Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria.

The Shiite sect have claimed that nothing less than 200 members of their sect including their leader’s wife and children have been killed by soldiers.

The sect blamed the Army authorities for the loss of lives saying that it was a deliberate and planned attack.

The army accused the sect of attempting to kill Buratai.

The Islamic Human Rights Commission also  organized a protest in London in support of Shiite leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky outside Nigerian High Commission.
