Ekiti Assembly declares Fayose Nigeria’s opposition leader

Ayo Fayose
For his consistent contribution to national issues, Ekiti State House of Assembly yesterday declared Governor Ayodele Fayose as the leader of the opposition in Nigeria.

At a special plenary of the Assembly yesterday, the state lawmakers based their unanimous decision on Fayose’s objective criticism of federal government’s policies and his advocacy for the masses.

The speaker of the Assembly, Hon Kola Oluwawole, his deputy, Segun Adewumi, the House leader, Hon Tunji Akinyele, Hon Gboyega Aribisogan, Hon Samuel Omotoso and Hon Titilayo Owolabi Akerele, took turns to extol the virtues of the governor, praising him for being an articulate, consistent, dogged and prudent
manager of resources since he assumed office.

Commenting on the decision of the assembly, Governor Fayose said: “They are entitled to their opinion. It goes to show that the whole state is in support of all my actions I have been taking and that I will continue to take.

I am that kind of man that can’t be silenced by
anybody. Whether they call me leader of opposition or not, I will continue to speak the truth as long as it is going to be in the interest of the masses”.

Speaking further, Oluwawole said: “Since assumption of office, Fayose has been honest, frank, courageous in his contributions to national issues and shown that he is an epitome of leadership.

“Fayose is an enigma, a good democrat who always speaks on burning issues of national interest without fear or thinking of whose ox is gored.”
