Coventry City Release Yakubu After Playing 'Just' 3 Matches... See Why |PoliFocus

Coventry City have announced the departure of Nigerian striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, by mutual consent.

The 34-year-old joined the English club in February, in a deal that was to last until the end of the season.

He recently returned to England, following a spell in the Turkish Super Lig side, Kayserispor.

The striker played three matches for Coventry City, but later suffered a hamstring injury against Swindon Town.

Aiyegbeni, who also played 57 games for his country and scored 21 goals, was part of Nigeria’s squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
