Good News!! Federal Government Revives Nigeria Airways, To Resume Operations In December |PoliFocus

FAAN announces Nigeria Airways to resume operations in December 2018, the crippling Nigerian Aviation sector seems to be on a revolutionary journey as FAAN has announced that the principal airline of Nigeria that has been redundant for a while is set to resume operations by December 2018.

The Nigeria Airways Ltd., more commonly known as Nigeria Airways, was the country’s foremost airline company founded in 1958 after the dissolution of West African Airways Corporation.

The company was founded in 1958 after the dissolution of West African Airways Corporation (WAAC). The government of Nigeria owned a majority of the airline (51%) until 1961, when it boosted its participation in the company to 100% and made it the country’s sole carrier.

Subsequently its name from WAAC Nigeria to Nigerian Airways in 1971, however it ceased operations in 2003 and this led to retrenchment of a lot of workers in the company, which its past workers still cry to the government for their entitlement.
