Court Blocks Controversial DSTV Price Hike |PoliFocus

A Nigerian court has blocked cable network DSTV’s plans to hike the price of their services within Nigeria.

The South African company in July raised the subscription rate for the DSTV Premium package from N14,700 to N15,800, Compact Plus from N9,900 to N10,650, Compact from N6,300 to N6,800, Family from N3,800 to N4,000, and Access from N1,900 to N2,000.

The new pricing started on the first of August and there was a lot of pushback as fans were no pleased at having to pay more with no added quality.

There was also the debacle involving the Community Shield as many Nigerians took to Social media to complain that the Community Shield was not shown and that this makes no sense as paying for the service at a higher price and being unable to squeeze any extra value from the DSTV’s service

However, on Monday, Justice Nnamdi Dimgba granted an injunction against the Cable service stopping them from implementing the price
