MUST READ: 7 ways through which NOLLYWOOD misleads Nigerians

How Nollywood misleads Nigerians

I write this article to bring to our notice the damaging effects of home videos, theatre, musicals and cinemas that we do watch.
Before I proceed, I will like to explain what Nollywood means for my International readers. Nollywood is the name given to the world of our entertainment in Nigeria where films and musicals are produced as Hollywood and Bollywood are to America and India respectively.

The ways are;
1. Mistrust in partnership

If you are a staunch follower of our movies in Nigeria, you will agree with me that over 90% of films where partnership takes place between or among friends usually ends in a sorry state.
I'm bold to state categorically that not everyone is having a bad intention when going into partnership.

Majority of all these International brands are product of this. However, if you have the intention of embarking on this, feel free but you must know your intending partner to well and you should not give emotion a place when taking such decision.
I believe you know what I mean, #wink. Business and emotion should not be combined if you want to have a prospect in business.

2. When you are handsome/beautiful, you are evil
This is another point that is annoying, a cast that is handsome/beautiful in a movie is always cruel and treats people inhumanly and with disdain.
Please don't misquote me, because everyone is wonderfully made, don't get it twisted.

So back to my point, for the fact that you are good looking is not a pointer that you will be wicked. This has affected majority of we youths, a friend once told me that he cannot marry a beautiful and flashy girl because they are always possessed of one evil spirit or another.

3. If you are well-mannered, you will be rich even if you don't work

This point is hilarious but it is true. It is a common saying that life is not always a bird of roses.  Though I'm not against the fact that it is good to have good character but there is more to that.
If one relies on this type of movie and apply it in the real life scenario, hmmmmmmm, you may guess what the end may look like, if at all you are not a prophet. LOL
Even our Holy Bible supports that we must work and it is from it that we will be making our living. You need proof? Check the book of Genesis. It is my believe that something similar will be in the Holy Quran.

4. Life is all about taking revenge

This is another important point, life is not all about taking revenge of every evil things done to us. In our movies, even dead people of many years will be moving around taking revenge but the funny part of it is that, the ghosts will be calculating traffic before crossing the road. #chuckles
In the Holy Bible, it is written that when enemy shows up, God will raise a standard against them. It means that enemy are there to help us to raise our games.

For instance, if you are a good typist, you can type many words in a minute using a typewriter and people see you as a champion. When you now have someone that uses a Computer to type (typesetting) with a lot of graphics, with ease and also with speed in your area.
You will be seeing the person as your enemy, whereas what you should see there is a challenge, so that you can step up from being a local champion and learn new skills.
Remember that we learn always and the moment you stop learning, that is when you die!
5. When husband dies, the wife will be ejected out of the house

This point is one of the reasons why some of our ladies are having issues settling down and also in their matrimonial home.
Some will not like to have mother-in-law, because Nollywood has brainwashed them to the level that all mother-in-law it a treat and also a time bomb.

This is why most of them will prefer to live a pattern of "me and my husband". This is against the believe of we Africans, because when marriage is arranged, it is not only between the bride and the groom but also among the two family members.
So to avoid such crises, make sure that marriage rites are performed on you before you leave your father's house (to ladies)  and to we men, we should endeavour to write our WILLS. writing wills doesn't mean that we are inviting death.

6. When you are truly in love, you must suffer heartbreak

This is for the love birds, for real it is a good thing to be in love and i must state that love is magical.
Every lover should believe that life itself is a risk, so you should have that at the back of your mind. But believe in the principles guiding relationship for a long lasting one but never be a pessimist as to what will be the end of it. #What you profess is what you receive.
Remember that people get married almost every weekend. If you have been checking through your spouse, fiance or fiancee's phone before now, I beg of you, stop it because we all have our secrets and there is this common saying, #if you have not heard, you can't be hurt.

7. To be wealthy, you must do rituals

There are many Godly ways through which one can be wealthy without involving in any ritual. Some of these are; you must be prayerful, hardworking, industrious, diligent, consistent and also by believing in what you think you can do.
Say no to vices because they cut short lives, be good to people around you. If you decide to be pressing on people's head when going up, who knows may be you will need their help when coming down.

In conclusion, it will be a sin to the unborn generation if I don't state the good job that our films and movies industry popularly known as Nollywood is doing in our lives.
It showcases the rots and social ills cum vices within the society.
Thumbs up for them!
