Osun PDP Crises Takes A Different Dimension As Party Vacates Omisore's Property Used As Secretariat

‎The crisis rocking the Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took a new dimensionon Monday, when members of PDP were seen evacuating the party’s secretariat at Osogbo, the state capital.

While some members of the PDP said the building usedas the party secretariat situated along Osogbo-Gbongan Road was owned by a former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, others said Omisore was only paying the rent.

It was gathered that the faction who won the election left the secretariat to a new place around Otaefun area along Ikirun Road.According to sources within the party, the evacuation was necessary since loyalists of Omisore failed to emerge in the recently conducted congress of the party.

It would be recalled that controversy trailed PDP’s congress in Osun State. While a part of the party was loyal to the last governorship election candidate of the party, Senator Iyiola Omisore, others are in support of the incumbent state chairman of the party, Ganiyu Olaoluwa.

The spokesperson of Omisore camp, Hon. Bade Falade, claimed that the congress was manipulated in favour of a chairmanship candidate.

“We are not given forms to participate in the exercise and contest. Apart from that, a court had already issued an injunction stopping the exercise,” he added.During the congress, some prominent party members did not participate.

Among those who shunned the congress were Omisore, former Minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan; and member BoT, Chief Ebenezer Babatope among others.

Top party members who attended the congress were a member of the Board of Trustee of the party, Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun; National Secretary of the PDP, Prof. Wale Oladipo and former Chairman of Federal Road Maintenance Agency, Mr. Jide Adeniji.

Former Deputy Governor Olusola Obada; Senator Olu Alabi and others were also present at the congress which produced Adagunodo-led executive.

One of the immediate past executive of the party said that: “We have to move. Omisore has always threatened us with the building when we are not ready to toe his line of argument.

“We realised that he was the one behind the cancellation of the first congress election at the national level and that is because we denied him the opportunity to impose leaders on us.

That (the building)is his only property in that party and we don’t need it again”, he added.‎An aide to Omisore said, “He (Omisore) rented this secretariat and he is the one paying the rent so there is no way those ones (other faction) can come here with what they have done.“

He did not pursue them but they also know that they can no longer come here. They have moved to Otaefun area. They have gone there to form a faction of PDP. But let us wait and see.

We are still going to court tomorrow (Tuesday).”The newly elected secretary of the PDP in Osun State, Mr. Bola Ajao, confirmed that the party had moved to a new secretariat along Ikirun, Road.
