NIS Recruitment: Immigration Has Regularised, Resolved Issue Of 2000 Applicants, List To Be Out On October 31 —Comptroller-General |PoliFocus

The Comptroller General (CG) of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mohammed Babandede, has said that the recent recruitment exercise to absorb applicants into the Service, the pending case of the 2000 applicants has been laid to rest, as their employments have been regularised.



While addressing journalists in Abuja yesterday, Babandede, who warned that the NIS would not tolerateany protest from applicants, explained that the names of the successful applicants would be published on the Service’s website on Monday, October 31.

The screening exercise was carried out at the NIS headquarters in Abuja between August 29 and September 6, this year and was open to press coverage. Babandede said a total number of 1,470, out of the expected 2,000 applicants, reported for the screening, while 888 of them met all the criteria and were successful.

Of this number, a breakdown shows that 177 were taken for the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Immigration II, 305 for the rank of Assistant Inspector of Immigration and Immigration Assistants (1, 11, 111) had 406 slots, totaling 888.

He state “Recommendations from the exercise have been submitted to the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Services Board (CDFIPB), which on confirmation, will issue the letters of appointment to the successful candidates, who will remain on probation, in line with public service extant laws, until they are confirmed and gazetted, during which period they will be observed to ensure they are drug-free and of good conduct.“With this development, therefore, the recruitment process has been regularised and the issue finally laid to rest,” he said.

It would be recalled that on Saturday, March 14, 2014, about 6.5 million applicants into the Service reported to various designated centres in the federation for screening.
