MUST READ: 8 Reasons Why You Are Yet To Make It Big

It is the dream of virtually everyone both old and trending to be counting his/her money in 7 digits and above (millions) but the reality is that over 60% of Nigerians live below a United States dollar ($) per day.

The reason for this abject poverty in our land may not be linked to spiritual warfare always but the way of our gyrations cum attitudes to work and spending.

Some of the reasons that keep majority of we Nigerians far below poverty level are;
1. Reckless Spending: The way and manner by which we spend our money on flimsy things is a thing of concern, we use the most expensive things especially wanna be big girls and boys.
You don't need to break banks for people to notice your existence.

It is only in Nigeria you will see a salary earner of N15,000 that will use over N5,000 to clear a Bill at a pub for just a day because he/she just received salary!

Come on!...... If you continue like that, you will only be living from hands to mouth. You should have a break as to buying things that are not of paramount interest to you.

Thanks to the quack knowledge of economics that exposed me to the concept of "Scale of Preference" and "Opportunity Cost".

The bitter truth is that, if your two months salary cannot pay for a year rent, you don't have a job yet and if it(salary) cannot take you for 20 days, you should check your lifestyle.

2. Acquiring loans for celebrations: It is a common practice in Nigeria for people to take loans inorder to finance celebrations.

This idea is satanic, loans are meant to be used for investments, that is why you will be expected to pay back with interest.

This makes me to remember one of my uncles that is based in the United Kingdom, he is a professor, during the burial of his mum he was asked to spray money during the party, he told them plainly that he just lost his mum and that he cannot lose his money as well...... It is funny hun? But for real, there is sense in that statement.

But I don't encourage misery..... Lol. So when next you want to celebrate, try and arrange it to suit your pocket rather than putting yourself in avoidable debt.

Se bi o ti mo, ki n te(he who doesn't pass his boundary, will not be put to shame).

3. No investment: Investment is the bedrock of building wealth. Building of wealth begins when you spend less than your income.

But in a situation where you have no plan of investing, you are on your way to the world of poverty.

The job that you so cherish and expectant of "every month end things", may be lost anytime....  God forbid!!

But that is the raw truth, there is no job security in Nigeria, people are being sacked everyday.

So for you not to die of poverty nor frustration, you need to invest your money and even your time, so that if unexpected happens, you will have something to fall back on.

4. Not ready to experiment something different: You must be innovative for you to make it in life. If you love doing regular or common things, your results will also be regular or common.

The yoruba aphorism that states that, three generations can't be poor can only be true if innovations are introduced and embraced (iran meta ko ki n to si).

If as a civil servant, your daily activities are recurring decimal, for instance, from office to sitting room to see different cable or terrestial stations, eat and the sleep?

Making heavy money in this kind of situation may be extremely difficult or a mirage else you fraud.

You need to think and do something that will take you out of your comfort zone.

5. Laziness: Being lazy to me is far worst that having terminal disease. Lazy bones are not ready to do anything, they prefer to be milking from another persons.

They rely on such people for all their basic and social needs. Even Bible supports hardworking, he who is deligent in his work stand before kings not before average (mean) men.

The Bill Gates, Aliko Dangote, Barack Obama, Muhammadu Buhari, Olusegun Obasanjo, Rochas Okorocha, Tu Face Idibia, just to mention but few worked their ways to stardom.

This is a wake up call for you if you you are a lazy type, it is never too late to start something now.

According to a motivational pastor based in Lagos, Dexter Alamu, he said "looking for job is a job".

This implies that, when you take job search seriously like a job, you will definitely secure one.

So,  stop saying there is no job in Nigeria, the whole world is waiting to pay for what you have in that your brain!

So common!  Explore it and see yourself smiling to the banks.

6. Blaming others for your present situation: If you are in the habit of not taking responsibility for you misdeeds or mistakes, then you are missing it.

Stop blaming your parents either living or dead for your present financial predicament or woes, it is never too late to start up something lucrative.

You may not have the opportunity to go to the best school or even bag first class honour but your brain is first class, make use of it!

May be you are not that lettered, that shouldn't be seen as an impedement, some pills the world billionaires as listed by Forbes are not University graduates.

Your making it in life is not tied to the apron string of anyone, ja ara e(discover yourself).

7. Relying too much on people for help: Expectation hurts, so relying on people may be counter productive. Bible even warns us not to put our trust in man.

Man no be God( man can't be God), they can disappoint anytime. The concormitant effect of putting your trust in man may be catastophic.

For the fact that your brother is stinkinly rich is not a yardstick that you will be rich. Eni ti Olorun ba ran si eniyan, ni o se eni loore (one's helper is always God sent).

Believe in your dreams and pursue it jealously, though I'm not saying you should not seek for help but never use the "awaiting help" to design your future or program, because the person may renege on the promise, what will then be the fate of your lofty plan???

8. Waste of time on irrelevant things; It is a common saying that time is money. It is the most important factor in life, and if lost, it cannot be regained.

Proper use of one's is germane to living a fulfilled or dreamed life.  If you are addicted to something that burns away your time with little or no financial gain, it is high time you changed the attitude.

Watching television, playing games all through the day may not help you, think out of the box and you will see yourself having a financial freedom.

Conclusion:
Imbibe the spirit of never say never, everything is possible when there is a will. Dress nicely because your dressing with determine how you will be addressed.

Believe in your dreams and works towards achieving them and also put your perusal on the paper to analyse your spending, from this you will know if you are financially reckless or not.

Have a mini budget or plan for yourself, this will make you to be accountable to yourself.

Lastly, pray always before you embark on any project, it is only Almighty God that can grant all or any of our heart desires.
Without him, we are nothing.
