Nigerian Senate Inaugurates Its Standing Committees

Today, the Senate inaugurated Twelve (12) Committees with Senate President Bukola Saraki leading the inauguration process, these Committees included;


1. Education (Basic & Secondary) Committee
Senator Aliyu Wamakko as Chairman
Senator Rose Oko as Vice Chairman

2. Women Affairs Committee
Senator Oluremi as Chairperson
Senator Stella Oduah as Vice Chairperson

3. Privatization Committee
Senator Ben Murray-Bruce as Chairman
Senator Abdullahi Yahaya as Vice Chairman

4. Upstream Petroleum Committee
Senator Omotayo Alaosoadura as Chairman
Senator Bassey Gershom as Vice Chairman

5. Downstream Petroleum Committee
Senator Uche Ekwunife as Chairperson
Senator Jibrin Barau as Vice Chairman

6. Culture & Tourism Committee
Senator Mathew Urhoghide as Chairman
Senator Abubakar A. M. as Vice Chairman

7. Gas Resources Committee
Senator Bassey Albert Akpan as Chairman
Senator Abubakar Ahmadu Moallahyidi as Vice Chairman

8. Employment, Labour & Productivity Committee
Senator Suleiman Nazif as Chairman

9. States & Local Government Committee
Senator Abdullahi Gumel as Chairman
Senator Kashamu Buruji as Vice Chairman

10. Special Duties Affairs Committee
Senator Murtala Nyako as Chairman
Senator Sunny Ogbuoji as Vice Chairman

11. Establishment & Public Service Committee
Senator Emmanuel Paulker as Chairman
Senator Suleiman Nazif as Vice Chairman

12. Sports & Youth Development Committee
Senator Obinna Joseph Ogba as Chairman
Senator Marafa Kabir as Vice Chairman

Chairman Senate Committee on Upstream Petroleum, Senator Alaosoadura gave the opening remarks.

In his speech the Senator said:"Our Predecessors in the 7th Assembly piloted Committee responsibilities, we hope to consolidate on that." 

He then concluded with a pledge of his unalloyed support and loyalty to Senate President Bukola Saraki and the entire Senate.

Senate President Bukola Saraki in his inauguration speech charged Committee Members to take Committee work seriously, asking them to roll up their sleeves and get to
work.

He also asked all Committee Members to observe highest ethical standards that every single Senator represents the entire Senate, adding that any Member found in any ethically doubtful position will be sanctioned.

Chairman Committee on Sports & Youth Development, Distinguished Senator Obinna Joseph Ogba gave the vote of thanks and the inauguration came to a close.
