President Buhari’s Death Rumour: Do We Need Him Dead Or Alive? |PoliFocus

It is no longer news that the rumoured death of the president, Muhammadu Buhari is gaining momentum by the second.

Few days ago, it was in the news that Mr. President flew to the United Kingdom to spend his vacation but the people in the know claim that he was rushed out of the country due to failing health.

His movement before the appointed day of the start of the vacation cannot but leave many hearts pounding.

But to be candid, Buhari is not a superhuman, so falling ill or indisposed shouldn't be seen as a big deal.

The bane of our underdevelopment can't but be traced to how we like playing politics with everything.

Many Nigerians celebrated his alleged death while larger percentage is even praying for his death now.

This ugly situation is supposed to be a clarion call to Buhari, his party and all his cabinet members that average Nigerian is tired of their ineptitude.

In a saner clime, citizens should have been praying vigorously for his speedy recuperation but the reverse is the case here in Nigeria.
I remember when the late sage and former president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela was admitted in the hospital, the whole country was dull and gloomy even at a very ripe age.

His death will not do us any good but will give him another ample opportunity to right all his wrongs before he is booted out come 2019, if the status quo is maintained in term of economy and all-round development.

We all should extend our prayers to him for speedy recovery. Like a Yoruba adage, "a drummer normally hears what he is drumming, he doesn't need anyone to tell him if it is danceable or not".

PoliFocus wishes President Muhammadu Buhari a quick recuperation.
