News: APC drags Fayose to court over SIEC's Composition

The All Progressives Congress (APC) State has dragged Governor Ayodele Fayose and the State Independent Electoral Commission to court over the composition of the electoral body.

The party claimed that members of the electoral body constituted by the governor are card-carrying members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and so could not conduct a free and fair election local government elections.

The APC alleged that SIEC Chairman, Justice Kayode Bamisile (rtd) and commission members-Victoria Olufunke Adeyera, Ganiyu Bello, Mojisola Florence Bankole, Rufus Sunday Olaiya and  Olajide Vincent Adeyeye-are PDP members.

The APC in the suit filed by its counsel, Abiodun Fasakin and Tajudeen Akingbolu, said constituting a SIEC made up of suspected PDP members was illegal.

The party said the composition of the electoral body contradicted the constitutional requirement for a non-partisan electoral body that could organise credible elections acceptable to all contesting parties.

It will be recalled the PDP dragged Kayode Fayemi APC led government to court over same issue, which led to the suspension of the scheduled election then.

Is this because of fear of unknown or that their claims are correct?
Let's keep our fingers crossed as the events unfold.
