Opinion : Is APC Gradually Fading In The Hearts Of Nigerians?

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Dipo Eluwole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), winner of the Ife Central House of Assembly legislative rerun election conducted last weekend.

The Election which came with the usual logo of Prof Yakubu led INEC 'inconclusive'   but was concluded on Sunday.

It was declared inconclusive due to the violence recorded in some wards.

The resent elections under the present Buhari-led administration are also characterised with violence and bloodletting and ignoble 'inclusiveness'.

But for the propose of this write-up, I will limit it to the direction of the results. It will be recalled that Nigerians voted en mass for President Muhammadu Buhari and other APC candidates at the last general elections last year.

A visible fact is that PDP, which is the opposition is having an edge on the elections since President Buhari came into power.

Starting the analysis from Kogi, Bayelsa, Rivers among others. APC was disgraced in Bayelsa, Rivers but the shocking one is that of last weekend Assembly poll in Osun, where Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola was floored.

Aregbesola who is seen as the pillar of Oranmiyan of politics in South West should have won the said election with easy, using the state political structure but the reverse is the case.

We would recall that result of 2011 general election when Mallam Nuhu Ribadu was the flag bearer of the then Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). Ribadu lost in all states in Nigeria except Osun State.

During his re-electioneering period, he was owing workers but they still voted en mass for him.

Where has Ogbeni Aregbesola lost it?

One cannot but adjust to the fact that our economy is in comatose at the moment. Epileptic power supply and lingering fuel scarcity is the order of the day.

I'm of the opinion that the ruling APC put it's house in order so as not to be booted out in 2019. Every Nigerian wants performance, not blame-game nor excuses.
