Rerun Of FCT Elections To Be Held On April 13 - INEC

Rerun Of FCT Elections To Be Held On April 13 - INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has fixed Wednesday, April 13, 2016 for the conduct of FCT rerun elections after the exercise was declared inconclusive in four of the six local council areas, according to reports by Channels TV

The commission on Monday, in a press statement said that the reasons for the cancelled polls were due to issues ranging from violence, over voting and non-use of smart card readers for accreditation of voters.

The rerun election is expected to hold in 39 polling units in 20 registration areas of the Federal Capital Territory.

The electoral umpire says the exercise on the day of rerun would take similar modalities with the initial conduct, with simultaneous voting which is slated to start by 8am and end by 2pm.

The commission has asked political parties and their candidates to ensure peace in order to allow the conclusion of the elections.
