Senate Today: Read Senate Proceedings For Thursday 23rd June, 2016 |PoliFocus

Adoption of votes and proceedings of Wednesday 23rd June, ushered in today’s plenary.
Senator Kabiru Gaya moves for the approval of Votes and Proceedings and Senator Nelson Effiong seconded.
Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki presided over plenary.

PETITIONS/POINT OF ORDER

Senator Omo-Agege raised a petition from a member of his constituency Col. Aigbe over wrongful dismissal from Nigerian Army Headquarters. The petition was laid and referred to committee on Ethics Privileges and Public Petitions.
Senator Gilbert Nnaji raised a point of order on Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) over reduction of fines for telecommunication companies, under order 42:1 & 52 of the Senate standing rules.
The Senate resolves to invite the NCC, Central bank of Nigeria and other stakeholders to brief the Senate on why the reduction was made.

PRESENTATION OF REPORTS

The report of the Committee on Federal Capital Territory on FCT budget was presented by Senator Dino Melaye. It was laid.

CONSIDERATION OF REPORTS

The Senate considered and passed for third reading report of the Committee on Niger Delta on the 2016 Budget Proposal of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC ) and  Report of the committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND on the Federal Universityof Petroleum Resources, Effurun.

ADJOURNMENT

The senate leader Senator Ali Ndume moved for other items in the order paper to be moved to another legislative day and minority leader seconds.
Senate President puts the question and the Senate adjourned to Tuesday 12th July, 2016.
