Opinion: Sales Of Nation’s Assets Will Confirm That Buhari Is More Clueless Than 'Crucified' Jonathan |PoliFocus

It is no longer news that Nigeria is presently struggling with her economy. Many have apportioned the blame on the doorstep of the previous government. They opined that its inability to save for the raining day put us in this pitiable situation.

The dollar sharing and botched arms deal cannot but be referenced to. But we cannot shy away from the fact that the present economic state of the erstwhile of the best economy in Africa is worrisome and pathetic.
The fall in the price of crude oil is also one of the factors that led us to this state. But, we should see this recession as an opportunity to think outside the box.

It is high time we diversified our economy. God has blessed us with fertile land and climate that supports virtually all agricultural practices.

We should revive our agricultural and manufacturing sectors, through this, Nigeria can survive the harsh economy.

The call by the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the business mogul Aliko Dangote and the Senate for the sales of Nation’s assets is not only childish but wicked!

President Muhammadu Buhari should jettison the devilish call. Though some of his naive cabinet members are also calling for such.

We still have the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and we still find it hard to get fuel readily available for use, do I need need a professor of economics to tell me that it will be worse if sold off? Hell, no!

Buhari who was elected on the platform of probity and accountability should justify the confidence reposed on him at the poll but turning the fortunes of the country around for better.

If he (Buhari) accented to this ignoble call, his reign will be worse than his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan.

Average Nigerian at the moment rates corruption-personified Jonathan than corruption-free Buhari.

When Jonathan was there, bag of rice was N8,000 but now N19,000. Likewise Naira was N197 but now N423 to a United States Dollar...imagine that!

As I have posited before now, President Buhari should reshuffle his cabinet, many of them are greenhorns in their ministries. They have 'zero' knowledge about what is happening in their ministries.

This will in no small measure slow down or hamper the rate of development. Buhari should separate politics with governance. Enough of favoritism in term of appointments!

Also will I restate my call for the sack of the CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele. To me, he is not working in tandem with the much publicised change but using his office to sabotage the economy.

Nepotism will take us to no where! Best hands should be engaged, irrespective of political affiliations. Nigeria belongs to us all!!!
