Opinion: Is Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) On Vacation?

It was with aggravation and bedevilment that I bought some litres of petrol at the rate of N130 per litre here in Ibadan yesterday.

Though it is not new to we Nigerians as to unchecked and unstable fuel hike but my concern is the passive role of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR)  at the moment.

The role of the agency is to checkmate the excesses of the petroleum marketers and also enforce the approved and regulated price for the product.

Before now, we must have heard of it sealing filling stations across the states but for now nothing is heard and its inglorious silence is a thing of concern to an average Nigerian.

Or should I assume that the agency is on leave? If not, it should wake up to reality and ease the pain being inflicted by this selfish and exploitative act of these marketers.

It should explain to us why the regulated price is being floated because presently the approved price for PMS is N86.50k as against the N130 that is being dispensed.
