[Sports] Flamingos grab World Cup ticket

Flamingos grab World Cup ticket
Nigeria has become the latest country to qualify for the fifth FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, after the Flamingos pipped hosts South Africa 1-0 at the Makhulong Stadium in Tembisaon Saturday.

Skipper Rasheedat Ajibade, who netted four in the Nigerians’ 6-0 win in the first leg in Abuja, made good again after the half-hour in the return, shooting aggregate scoreline to 7-0.

The Bantwana had no way whatsoever back into the fixture, and must have been grateful for the low scoreline outside Johannesburg as the Flamingos missed a hatful of chances.

Ajibade’s goal was her eighth in four qualifying matches, having netted three in both legs in the 9-0 whiplash of Namibia.

The 5th FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will take place in Jordan between 30thSeptember and 21stOctober this year.

Nigeria has never failed to qualify for the finals since the competition was launched in 2008.
