[Sports] No foreign coach for Eagles —NFF

Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has debunked rumours that the federation has been receiving applications for some foreign coaches to handle the country’s senior national team.

A board member of the NFF, who is also the Vice Chairman of the Technical and Development Committee, Ahmed Yusuf Fresh, disclosed that with hisposition in the federation, he has not seen any application from any foreigner looking for employment as the Super Eagles Coach.

“We cannot be talking of employing a foreign coach when there is no vacancy for a job. We didn’t receive any application and there is nothing like hiring a foreignmanager for Eagles on the table for now. It is all lies that we are receiving applications for the Eagles job,” he said.

Meanwhile, Team Coordinator of the Super Eagles, Patrick Pascal, has assured the home-based Eagles in camp for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against the Pharaohs of Egypt that they will not be sidelined when their foreign-based counterparts join the team this weekend.

“The home-based we have in the camp are crucial backups if any unforeseen incident happens to the invited foreign-based players. This is the reason the Chief Coach, Samson Siasia is taking their training seriously.

We want to put the players in good condition. To be candid, the Chief Coach has plans for the home-based players,” Pascal said.
