Forex Palava: Heritage Bank Temporary Locks MasterCard For International Transactions

Heritage Bank, one of the leading banks in Nigeria has sent messages to its valued customers updating them of the ban on usage of Naira-denominated ATM cards for international transactions.

The message reads in parts:

Please be informed that all international transactions on your MasterCard Naira and Dollar (Debit, Prepaid) will be temporarily declined, effective date May 26, 2016 due to current volatility in the foreign exchange market. However, your Naira dominated cards can still be used for local transactions on POS terminals, ATM and online Nigerian retailers, it ended.

Is this the kind of change that we all voted for????
