PDP Melee: We Were Not Barred By Any Court Order - Senator Makarfi

The Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the order of the Lagos Federal High Court, which allegedly restrained it from carrying out its activities.

Chairman of the seven-man Committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, in a statement on Thursday, said the ruling of Justice I. N Buba has no adverse judicial pronouncement on the proceedings at the last Saturday’s PDP National Convention.

Rather, Makarfi stated that on the only subsisting orderyon the convention was that of Justice A. M Liman of the Port Harcourt Federal High Court.

“The ruling of Justice Buba did not touch the National Convention of the Party."

“We acknowledge that a Motion on Notice to this effect is pending before Buba J.

But until that motion is moved and/or granted or struck-out there is has no adverse judicial pronouncement on the proceedings at the last Saturday’s PDP National Convention,” he said.

The two Federal High Courts gave conflicting orders, which further compounded the PDP leadership tussle‎.

Makarfi and the former National Chairman, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff are laying claim to the chairmanship position. —Today.ng
