Opinion: Ekiti House Of Assembled 'Clowns' |PoliFocus

Earlier in the week, members of Ekiti State House of Assembly took to the street to protest the 'perceived' persecution of their paymaster, Governor Ayodele Fayose.

They ceased the Okesa Area of the state capital with a lot of placards but with same 'handwriting' in support of Fayose.

They berated President Muhammadu Buhari’s selective anti-corruption war and posited that no amount of harassment or intimidation would  make them to betray their boss.

It would be recalled that Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) frozen the personal account of Fayose and his associates in Zenith bank due to the tip off received as to the ongoing #DasukiGate.

According to EFCC, Fayose was reported to be richer than the state, but the governor kept on complaining that the state is broke.

One of the Jawbreaking discoveries was that, one of the sons of the governor has over N200 million in his account!

I decided not to pass any judgement as to the 'silly' pro-fayose protest by the students of the higher institutions across the state, because I saw that as a business deal.

In the face of the failing economy, hardly will you see an undergraduate that will say NO to an harmless deal that will bring N3,000 within 2 hours!

But let me quickly add that all Fayose’s children together with his family members were conspicuously absent at the so-called rally.

But I'm infuriated at the supposed honourable members that took to the street to showcase their mediocrity to the whole world.

Ekiti was known to be a fountain of knowledge but the reverse is the case now as the state now parades mediocres as her leaders.

But the genesis of this cannot but be traced to the citizens' decision to prefer 'rice' to good governance.

I'm apolitical but the truth must be told. The boorish and docile followers of the governor and his stooges have been hypnotised.

What the honourable members should have done is to tell Fayose so prove his innocence in the court, thank God that the governor has instituted a case as to that.

Though I'm not a lawyer but I know that any case in a competent court shouldn't be debated. But I'm not too surprised as majority of the honourables were reported to have issued with their certifications.

It is high time Ekiti is  returned to her pride of place. This comedy must stop!
