Why I Visited With President Buhari Today —Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar |PoliFocus

Former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar (retd.), on Thursday had a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

While fielding questions from State House correspondents, Abubakar said he discussed national and international issues with the president, refusing to state the exact issues that were discussed.

“I came to discuss issues of national interest and international affairs with the President. Both of them are interwoven.

I have discussed with the person I came to see and I don’t think I need to discuss it in the news media,” Abubakar said.

He also reacted to claims that he had been silent on national issues, saying that the National PeaceCommittee for the 2015 General Elections which he chairs was still working behind the scene.

“We (the committee members) are still working, although quietly, to make sure that there is peace in the country.Abubakar also pleaded with Nigerians to support the Buhari administration.

“I hope all Nigerians will give the present administration the necessary support to make sure that we overcome all these crisis that are unnecessary and uncalled for,” he added.
