Nigeria’s Super Eagles Climbs Up Three Places In Latest FIFA |PoliFocus


The Gernot Rohr-tutored side are now the 64th best team in the world having occupied the 67th position in the previous rankings.


Nigeria occupy the 64th positionThis could be attributed to the 1-0 win over Tanzania in an AFCON qualifying match on September 3 at the at the Godswill Akpabio International stadium in Uyo.

However, the Mikel Obi-captained side remain the 14th best team in Africa, behind teams like Guinea, Congo and South Africa.

The Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire which occupy the 34 position on the standings are the best team in Africa, followed by Nigeria’s opponents at the FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifiers, Algeria in 35th position. Senegal – 39, Tunisia – 42 and Ghana –43 are third, fourth and fifth best teams in Nigeria respectively.

However, Argentina hold on to top place with Belgium below in the second and world champions Germany in third place.
