2016 Budget: Budget Of Change, Now Budget Of Shame Cum Error

When President Muhammadu Buhari presented 2016 budget at the joint session of the National Assembly on December 22nd, 2015, there was jubilation everywhere as the budget was tagged budget of CHANGE.

Little did we know that the so-called budget was planned and written at the 'beer parlour'. The so-called budget  of CHANGE is nothing but an embarrassment to the nation.

Earlier last week it was in the news that the budget was missing. This announcement was greeted by condemnation and criticisms from all well meaning Nigerians.

Senate President Bukola Saraki announced that Special Adviser to Mr. President on National Assembly Matter, Senator Ita Enang presented different version of the budget that was a total departure from the one that President Buhari presented.

In my previous post, I posited that only a fool that reasons from his anus will believe the cock and bull story. That the Presidency only tried retrieving the documents through the back door but the response it got was shocking to them.

Also last week, the former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo said it without mincing words that President Buhari copied Jonathan’s budget word for word!

All these happenings are making Nigerians to lose the confidence reposted on All Progressives Congress (APC) led federal government by the day.

The President has the constitutional power to withdraw a budget, but going through the back door is unnecessary and utopia.

I read it in the news some hours ago that President Buhari has formally requested for the retrieval of the controversial budget of SHAME.

what a shame indeed!

The following questions are begging for answers:

  • Should I say that Buhari had no time to sit down and go through all what he presented as arranged by various government agencies and parastatals?
  • Is it that Buhari wasn't prepared for governance, even after three failed attempts?
  • Is it that APC is all about lies and manipulations?
  • Is it that Aso Villa now has over-populated occupants, which led to skyrocket increment in the budget allocated to it?

This so-called budget should be overhauled and discarded into the bin. Buhari should take his time to peruse the new budget about to be written to correct the loopholes that this present one has created in the polity.

This will go a long way to regain the confidence of Nigerians in his government. Nigerians gullibility shouldn't be taken for granted!
