Nigeria’s apex bank, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has responded to the allegation that was made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the bank sold forex to certain bigwigs in President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
The allegations were made public using PDP’s verified Twitter handle @PdpNigeria. In the tweets the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari and the Special Adviser to President on Publicity and New Media, Garba Shehu were mentioned to have been benefitted from the shady deal.
On his part, Garba Shehu has earlier dissociated himself from the claim and went further to threaten lawsuit.
To this end, CBN has made a clarification that the apex bank doesn't sell forex to individuals. This was contained in a tweet by the CBN.

PDP's stories of sale of FOREX to individuals by #CBN are laughable fabrications.— Central Bank Nigeria (@cenbank) March 27, 2016
It is a general saying that to every rumour, there is always an iota of truth.... Time will surely reveal the truth very soon. But blowing false alarm should be discouraged, so as to not to heat up the polity unnecessary.
Better Nigeria is possible.
