PoliFocus Condemns Oshodi Market Demolition

I was flabbergasted to see some utopia tweets from primitive minds commending Lagos State government over the demolition of Owonifari Electronic Market in Oshodi.

For heaven sake, we don't have to be political on everything. Until we are able to distinguish between politics and governance, Nigeria will continue to be rigmaroling on a point.

How on earth should some group of people celebrate the downfall of fellow men just because you want to bear a stupid allegiance to the governor.

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode should be mindful of sycophants. They will tend to see nothing wrong in all your acts just of what they intend to gain.

I was moved when I saw some of these traders on the screen. They were lamenting and counting their loses.

The government on its path should at least give them adequate time them to move. But wait, if the government is really sincere about development, it should have prepared another place for these traders.

Governance is all about alleviating the suffering of the citizenry but if the reverse is the case, then we have everything to worry about.

If the Lagos State government cannot add value to these traders, the status quo should at least be maintained.

One of them even stated categorically that if he decides to take up arms now, that government will classify him as an armed robber.

Though I don't support that, but people should not be pushed to the wall. An idle hand they say is the devil's workshop.

Another said, it was done to them because they are from Igbo extracts (witch-hunt)

The priority of a reasonable government is how to create jobs and provide social cum basic amenities not the other way round.

Job losses increases social vices. And the wanton destruction of their goods will go a long way to affect their psyche against the incumbent governor and may in turn make them not to see any good thing in the government any longer.

If you interview an hardened criminal, he will also have a reason for committing crimes, though the reason(s) may not be tenable.

I'm conclusion, I'm using this medium to call on the state government to have a meeting with this people, so as to douse the tension caused and also towards cushioning the effect of the ignoble act.

New location should be arranged for them and they should also be compensated. Government should endeavour to create alternative to people before dislodging them in any area in the nearest future.

Because development is a continuum and for your to create, you must destroy but it should be cleverly done.
