APC Blasts Gov. Fayose Over Aisha Buhari’s US Trip |PoliFocus

For his indiscretion in the insistence that President Muhammadu Buhari's wife, Aisha Buhari, can't travel to the United States for fear of arrest over alleged involvement in Halliburton scandal, the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State says the eventual US trip by the First Lady has exposed Governor Ayodele Fayose as a "man lacking integrity to hold a responsible position of the governor of Ekiti State".

Fayose had in relentless assaults on the President in the wake of the EFCC investigations on the governor's involvement in several fraudulent cases, including diversion of arms cash from the office of the National Security Adviser, described Buhari as not clean of crime, accusing him of shielding his wife from investigation into Halliburton scandal in the United State in which he alleged that Aisha Buhari was mentioned.

The Presidency denied the charge, saying the President's wife knew nothing about the scandal, even as investigations by online publications, Premium Times and Saharareporters, indicated that the Aisha Buhari named in the scandal was not Buhari's wife.

Responding, Fayose in company of his media aides told reporters that his allegation was right, challenging the President's wife to visit America to face arrest over the allegation.

But APC spokesman, Taiwo Olatunbosun, said in a statement on Sunday that the visit of the President's wife visit to America last week has exposed the governor as a "shameless liar who has made lies and deceit a principal policy of his maladministration of the state".

He said the President's wife did not only visit America, but also met with the United States government's top leaders, United Nation's officials and several NGOs that promised her  cash and materials in aid of the internally displaced persons in the North East.

Describing the governor's public conduct as a collective shame to Ekiti people, Olatunbosun said it was regrettable that a man of "less honourable conduct is the one in charge of responsible position of the governor of Ekiti State".

He urged the governor to resign his position for lack of discretion to manage a responsible position of authority, arguing that Ekiti people did not deserve a leader who had lost respect  among Nigerians over indecent conduct, including recklessly telling lies and other unbecoming behaviours that were disgraceful to the integrity of the people of Ekiti State.

He said: "Recently, Fayose's men wrote a letter published online in the name of Ekiti State APC spokesman (my humble self) purportedly accusing the President's wife of involvement in the Harlliburton scandal and asking her to submit herself for prosecution in the US.

"This fraud was reported to the police and investigation is ongoing, but this was after the governor had earlier lied that a spiritualist advised me to beg him to return to the PDP so that the sore on my thigh would heal even though I never nursed any injury in any part of my body and I have never spoken to him for more than three years.

"He stage-managed a meeting with Femi Bamisile with some traditional rulers after asking them to invite the politician for a meeting only to emerge from where he was hiding somewhere in the hotel to beg Bamisile to return to the PDP, which the latter rejected, but minutes after, the news was all over that Bamisile had returned to PDP after begging Fayose."

Olatunbosun also recalled how the governor blackmailed the elder statesman and lawyer, Chief Afe Babalola, by pasting his posters as a governorship aspirant in the run up to 2007 election.

He added: "Fayose once blackmailed the State Chief Judge, Mr Justice Ayodeji Daramola, accusing him of collecting N200 million bribe from an APC chieftain to give judgment against him in his eligibility matter.

"Fayose was behind the fake story that former Governor Kayode Fayemi has a university in Ghana, even as he has been consistently lying in the last 22 months that Fayemi left N86b debt, but which the Debt Management Office put at N18.8 b.
"He once denied collecting N2b ecological fund but owned up when he got a hint that APC was about investigating this through the FOI law just the same way he denied collecting any refund on roads.

"He also  denied collecting N8.5b from the Federation Account in June 2015 and about N9 billion in July 2016,  when the figures were on the website of Federal Ministry of Finance  for all to see.

"He still continues to lie against Zenith Bank as the sponsors of his fraudulent election to save his head from the criminal diversion of arms cash to illegally remove a sitting governor and had even gone ahead to lie that Zenith Bank had come to beg him after blackmailing one of the staff bank officials, who is his crony in the bank for shady deals."

Describing Fayose as "unscrupulous and pathological liar who has elevated lying to state policy", Olatunbosun said the governor had become jittery over sundry cases hanging on his neck and so had embarked on a battle of survival, using vile means to destabilise the APC by blackmailing its leaders and turning them against one another.
"We again wish to remind Fayose that he will not escape prosecution soon for his economic crimes and his various infractions on the constitution of Nigeria and no amount of lying and blackmail will save him," Olatunbosun concluded.
