President Buhari Loses Special Assistant Ayoleke Adu To Death |PoliFocus

The presidency was thrown into frenzy this morning as many resumed to hear the bad news of Mr. Ayoleke Adu’s demise. Ayoleke was the Senior Special Assistant to the president on Economic matters. It was gathered that he had been suffering from undisclosed ailment for sometime which made him lose weight in great quantity


According to Bloomberg Mr. Ayoleke O. Adu, M.Sc., ACS, FCS, CFA, served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at MorganCapital Securities (Nigeria) Limited. He is an experienced Investment Banker and astute Investor with about 20 years of Investment Banking and Financial Advisory experience during which he led many landmark transactions in Africa and Nigeria in particular.

Mr. Adu has raised over US$7bn for Nigerian Corporations and Government entities. He was the Vice President, Project and Structured Finance Group at First City Monument Bank where he led initiatives that raised over US$1.8bn for the bank in both debt & equity within an 18 months period, including strategic sales to foreign institutional investors. While at FCMB, Mr. Adu was Project Director for bespoke debt structures.

He has extensive experience in the provision of Financial Advisory Services to the BPE and NCP on the privatization of many enterprises in Nigeria. Mr. Adu was a team leader for the Privatization of Nigerdock Plc; the share sales of Benue Cement Company; the Sales Study on the privatization of the four national petroleum refineries; and the team leader for the domestic financial advisers to the Privatization of the Port Harcourt Refinery. In the emerging power and energy sector, he is currently leading an International Team of Advisers providing Advisory.

Mr. Adu started his career with Arthur Andersen as an Assurance Analyst and Consultant. He then joined the corporate finance department at First City Merchant Bank Limited, where he worked on many corporate finance transactions including merger and acquisition deals.

Mr. Adu was Head of the Investment Banking and Project Finance team at Lead Bank Plc where he led the team that repeatedly won the Reuters and SBA awards as the Best Issuing House in Nigeria in 2000 and 2001. He was Group Head of the Corporate Finance and Multinationals Corporate Banking at Access Bank Plc. in 2006. Mr. Adu provided relationship management to Lafarge Group, the CFAO Group, SDV Group, Maersk, Dredging International, UACN Plc, Air France, Iberia, Briscoe, and others. He sits on the board of Cable Media Nigeria Limited, a multiple media and entertainment platform, which he co-founded with three other highly motivated Nigerian entrepreneurs.

Mr. Adu is a non-executive Director of Fountain Holdings Limited, the Investment Vehicle of Ekiti State of Nigeria. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the BusinessDay’s Financial Transparency Ranking and Awards. Mr. Adu holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He has a Bachelor of Science Honors degree from the University of Ibadan and a Master of Science degree (Distinctions) in Corporate and International Finance from the University of Durham, UK.

Mr. Adu was a member of All Progressives Congress Ekiti State Chapter where he contested for the position of Ekiti South Senatorial District in 2015 but loss to Senator Tony Adeniyi during the party primary.
