Five Takeaways From Portugal’s Winning EURO 2016 |PoliFocus

It is no longer news that Portugal on Sunday July 10 beat the host country, France to lift the EURO 2016 cup with a lone goal from the substitute Eder.

The goal which came in the extra time. But what is important are the lessons learnt in the tourney. Below are the five of the lessons learnt as compiled by PoliFocus.

1. Beginning or background is immaterial

The Portuguese started woefully by even qualifying as a best loser in group For but still managed to win the cup.

So what this implies is that your background shouldn't and cannot determine your fall ground.

What you put in to life will definitely determine your altitude. You may be born poor but remaining poor or otherwise is the CHOICE you have to solely make.

Remember to choice wisely by detaching yourself from the apron string of the horrible beginning of you have one.

2. Favourite might not always make it

Like what my dad normal say that babies that are born crowned-prince are not always made king at the end of the day.

So if people look down on you or even write-off, that is the best time to prove your critics wrong but doing the unimaginable!

Nobody gave Portugal a chance before or even at the group stage but the rest is now history.

3. Be clinical at every opportunity at ur disposal

Never slack at any given opportunity life gives you. Remember that the race is not for the swift.

Like a common saying that opportunity comes but once. Put in your best at anything you find yourself doing.

Portugal had just two on-target opportunities but was able to utilised one, which skyrocketed them to winning the tournament, unlike the French that had uncountable opportunities but all to no avail.

4. Believe in ur dream (s)

Hold on to your dream(s), even if everyone around your is saying the opposite.

Believe that your aspiration(s) cum plan(s) is/are workable and never give up at all.

No project has ever been made without hiccups but with dedication and persistence.

Portugal dreamt it and obviously achieved it. Keep rolling the dice, you will surely hit it sooner than later.

5. Stop building your trust or home on people but God

Almost all Portuguese put all their hopes in the former world best player, Cristiano Ronaldo but lo and behold, he was stretched off in first half of the match, 25 minutes into the game!

But winning it without Ronaldo is a lesson that we shouldn't place our hope or trust in men but God.

We should keep on doing our best and with that success is a sure bet.
