Opinion: Roforofo Hallow Chamber Fight, An Overblown Show Of Shame —PoliFocus

The ignoble events that surrounded the upper hallow chamber this week were primitive, uncalled for and overblown.

I have read about the scuffle in many fora and prints but came to a conclusion that the scenario was an aberration and should be condemned by all and sundry.

But I will not quick to be a judge here but will leave that to my esteemed readers.

Earlier this week, news broke up as to the disagreement, names calling and Insults hurling between Senator Dino Melaye and the wife of the National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

Dino was quoted to have made a move during their closed-door session to sanction any senator that goes ahead to testify in the ongoing alleged forgery case that involves the principal members of the upper chamber, Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and his deputy Ike Ekweremadu.

This didn't go down well with Senator Oluremi who called out Dino and unequivocally stated that Dino should stop threatening people in the Senate and that he should not denigrate the Senate discussion to 'kindergarten debate'.

This led to counter reaction from Dino who chided her that she should look at her face, that the Senate is not Bourdillion and that he is not part of the politicians that normally visit her and her husband for political blessing cum supports.

Reports have it that Senator Remi called Dino a 'thug and also dog'. That is very 'unsenatorly' if grammar will permit.

But in a swift reaction, Dino was quoted to have told her that she is stupid and even went close to her to beat her up but was stopped by his distinguished colleagues.

Though Dino had dispel this during his address to the members of the press that he only responded to the insults and names calling but never made any attempt to beat her up.

Another report has it that Dino told Oluremi that he will beat her up and still impregnate her and nothing will happen.

Though PoliFocus gathered that Jagaban, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has reacted to the scuffle, saying Dino should go ahead and beat his wife that his (Dino's) political career has ended.

But Dino has equally reacted by saying, Tinubu is not God that he (Dino) only fear God but respects mortals).

Inasmuch as I would have loved to lampoon Senator Dino for harassing and even trying to go physical with a woman, I will also condemn the behaviour of Oluremi, for the fact that her hubby is a National leader of the ruling APC, that doesn't give her the right to be insulting or assaulting party members.

It is my hope that the two gladiators will adjust to the fact that their conducts were unelderstatemanly and apologise, instead of adding salt to injury.

Also we youths should desist from playing politics with everything, we have many pressing problems to contend with, economy is at comatose, nothing seems working at the moment.

Job loss is on the increase, thereby adding to already saturated unemployed circus.
