Dismantle Roadblocks, IGP Ibrahim Idris Tells State Commissioners |PoliFocus

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris, has directed all Commissioners of Police to dismantle roadblocks set up by police officials on highways across Nigeria.
Addressing senior police officers in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, Mr Idris also ordered the police commands to stop deploying mobile policemen as personal security details to individuals.

He instructed the commands to ensure visible policing in order to deter criminals.
The Police Boss urged Nigerians to report erring police officials to appropriate authorities, especially those who demand bribes before granting bail to suspects.

Before the commencement of the monthly conference, he had presented cheques worth 192 million Naira to families of police personnel who lost their lives while in service.

The conference, which continued behind closed doors, is also expected to examine strategies for curbing the increasing cases of kidnapping and murder by herdsmen across Nigeria.
