Transfer: Samir Nasir Joins Sevilla On A Season-long Loan |PoliFocus

French midfielder, Samir Nasri has joined La Liga club Sevilla on season-long loan from Premier League side, Manchester City, the Spanish outfit revealed on Wednesday.


The 29-year-old has lifted two Premier League titles, a League Cup and a Community Shield in his time since completing his switch from Arsenal. He is Part of a midfield that comprises of David Silva, Yaya Toure and Gareth Barry throughout the historic 2011/12 campaign, Nasri played a crucial role throughout the campaign, making 45 appearances and scoring six goals.

Renowned for his close control and technical ability in the final third, Nasri’s star shone brightest in the 2012 and 2014 title-winning seasons. Of his 27 goals he scored in City colours, many have been crucial and few were more important than they don’t come much more important than his March 2012 winner against Chelsea.

His spectacular goal against Sunderland in the Capital One Cup final against Sunderland in the 2014 final proved to be the winning strike in a 3-1 win and on the final day of the campaign his 39th-minute strike from the edge of West Ham’s box rebounded in off the inside of the post to give the Blues the lead and settle the nerves of the Etihad crowd with City going on to win 2-0.

Just a few months later, Nasri scored another crucial goal, firing in from 25 yards as City beat Roma 2-0 in the Stadio Olimpico to confirm progression to the Champions League knockout stage.

Following an injury-hit 2015/16, Samir came on as a second half substitute during Sunday’s 2-1 victory over West Ham.  Also, his 176th appearance in all competitions for City–but he will now spend the rest of the season in La Liga.
